Nice save. We all go thru these landings. It just sucks that it happens when passengers are onboard. And the perfect ones tend to happen when ur alone.
Another recovery method is to just pull back a little and hold it there. You might baloon up a little, but the speed bleeds off quickly and you'll settle back down with the correct speed.
@cadetsmith1 Thing is it takes piss poor technique to have a botched landing like this one. I would have taken the controls from this guy, went around, and made him try again (with my hands on the controls the second time).
Look, you only need to traning with T\G (Touch and Go) landing, and after some landing I sure you will succeed. You came little high and i suppose too fast, you not have to make stall in the landing, just try touch down in 60-40 knots.
Too fast and flared too late. Flare a little earlier and slower as you bring out the power. Earlier and slower flare will give you more control and more feel.
Ah! I knew it was MN! I live there and Crystal Airport is just a few minutes away from my house! I am not old enough to get a Single Engine aircraft pilot's licence yet but just a few more years, and I'm there!
hahahaha that was still a good landing you can still use the plane one more time and nobody got injured so in my book that landing is the same as any other good job! btw i would love to see that landing from the outside!
@unapro3 Quote, "...a great landing is when your wheels chirp onto the runway and you hardly feel a bump. The landing in this video was utter crap!"
Although I normally make soft landings, even at night they are not technically perfect. A perfect landing is when the aircraft stalls and the aircraft falls 2 or 3 inches onto the runway. Although a slight bump may be felt, the aircraft will no longer fly, especially after the flaps are retracted.
haha after one of these learning experiences my instructor jokingly told me to call the tower and ask if we could go back around and pick up the rest of the airplane.....it happens, all the time(dont give this to cnn cuz the faa will be all on this and they will make a huge deal about it jk lol good job)
we all have bounced a few times. Does anyone know how to purposely bounce several times(like six) I saw it in a movie once and it looked like it really could take some skill to do it
If you want to purposely bounce, Lon your nouse gear. Don't hit the ground hard just make sure you are landing nose gear first, it will ensure you couple of bounes.
I guess inside jokes are called such for a reason! I am a pilot, and have been one since 1982.......was flying solo before I had my automobile license. I plan on posting some takeoff and landing video's when I get a chance. They are interesting because it is a grass strip about 1800 feet long with wires on one end and a ditch on the other!
It's called "crow hoppin". Too much speed on short final, got the nose wheel in on the touchdown and bounced right back into the air. Nice recovery. You got on some power quickly, otherwise you might have had a much harder touchdown. Well done.
Approach was too steep and too early on the flare. Not too bad though, except for the fact that you tried to save the bad landing. You have the option to go around and if this happens again I strongly recommend it.
2 landing fees :-) happens to 80% of us at some stage, the other 20% lie!!! check out my videos of flying in ireland, please rate and leave your comments, cheers
@pilotman012 ahh, that old cliche', a great landing is when your wheels chirp onto the runway and you hardly feel a bump. The landing in this video was utter crap!
Took a cute girl flying the other day and had two of my shittiest landings ever! Murphy's law I guess. I blame it on the different sight picture in the straight-tail vs. the 172 SP. Ha ha. Or wind shear. Speed got low so shoved the nose down and added power and then ballooned and floated. Then got a two-fer on the landing. But I maintained the centerline and she didn't even think it was bad!
I say in your support we the fellow pilots of the world should start landing badly whenever a cute girl is in the airplane. That wil make them all think it should be like this hehe ;-)
upsss! that was ugly!! hahaha honesty and hummor . hey don't feel bad i have done many "ugly ones" myself. Where you able to fly the plane after that??? then it was a good ......
Its the stall warning. When you get below a certain airspeed (as you normally do on landing) it will activate. Different aircraft have different warnings. This one does sound a little off :)
Any safe landing is a good landing. 10% crutch power would have helped or quicker power upon first balloon to stable the flare. I've done those many times. In the past. lol
I say good job! I hear how you added just a touch of power to keep from a hard 2nd or 3rd touchdown. BTW: those are the strangest runway stripes I have ever seen!
Hey Roadie50, it is not that bad in fact flying when it is cold makes the airplane act like a rocket. The really cold air squeezes all the moisture out so 10SM or better every day is a regular occurrence.

that's textbook landing when there's someone holding a camera onboard.
