• Oh, also watch out for the box at the bottom of the page when you are checking out. They have automatically already checked it for you to get charged $10 a month to receive 2 pairs of sunglasses a month. That's a little sneaky...

  • Not sure if it ethically sound or not, but basically you get what you pay for: you aren't buying a $120 watch (there is just no way those watches would "retail" for that amount) instead you buying a $15 watch. As long as you understand that it's just a clever marketing ploy then you shouldn't be duped.

  • its real and i just got 6 pairs and a watch there are great

  • How do you get them to stop sending sunglasses?

  • He goes to UCI I'm guessing. I went to UCI. + There's a bunch of stores there.

  • bull shit on the website it says (not available in California)

  • And only had to pay less then 100 for the shipping,

  • It was worth it. I spent all 500

  • i though it was worth doing it the glasses i got are really nice and it was totally worth the 9% shipping fee

  • yea there pretty cheap sunglasses but you have to put in like 15 to 20 bucks on "shipping"

  • i got a card from Transworld Snowboarding mag, i looked at the glasses, the website looks legit, but for the service fee i woulg just buy Knockarounds for $14

  • I sold mine Giftcard on Ebay for a dollar.

  • about a 20 dollar service fee. the fee's on the original price not the sale price.

  • Mine is 225747752 and it expires Sept 30th 2011 also

  • If you want to use a $500 gift card I have one I won't use. The number is 225654556 and it expires Sept 30, 2011. If it doesn't work then someone probably used it.

  • I hope you ended up getting your medal!

  • THE 9% SERVICE FEE IS A HOAX.

The service fee is based on the so called "original price" of $230- not the sale price of $138.

DO THE MATH: 9% of $230 = $20.70, which is actually 15% of $138.00. Once again, the service fee is no 9%, the service fee is 15%.

  • FRAUD ALERT!

DON'T BE FOOLED by their $0.1 "sale" items. You still have to pay a 9% service fee based on the original retail price (Which is usually around $200) So in addition to deceiving you with a free gift card, they deceive you twice and insult your intelligence by marking something up really high and pretending to have a sale.

THIS IS FRAUD because we all know these glasses are not $200- but rather, $1.

  • Anyone want to buy my $500 RedStar gift card for $5?

The march is marked up 700% and you pay a 9% service fee based on that bullshit price. We all know these aren't $100 sunglasses- THEY'RE DOLLAR STORE SPECIALS!

    DECEPTIVE MARKETING

  • Overall if you have the card and you "UNCHECK" the box on the info page at the very bottom so they dont keep charging you its a good deal.

  • Hey incredifaggot I would wear them while you sucked my dick mother fucker

  • I got a pair and they're not bad at all for the price

  • @BigRichard705 i bet you wear them when you suck on dicks

  • @IncredibleNerd FUCK YOU!

  • Got one of these too... Pretty much, they pretend that they have valuable products so that they can give you these "on sale" shades. If it's really a $500 prepaid card, then that card would be able to cover the shipping cost too. haha. But no, instead, you're shipping cost is actually the price of the sunglasses. Creative, manipulative advertising.

  • Where are they made?

  • i have a couple pairs of these sunglasses and i have to tell ya, they are not as good as the real price (like $200) but they r pretty nice. i have a gift card and will be ordering them soon

  • @forforman how long did it take you to get them?

  • i know a lot of stuff about redstar and i am glad to tell you every thing is free with that card but you still have to pay for the shipping it can range from 9-12 dollar shipping for one item and we have about 12 pairs of glasses from there and it is legit and i have ran a 5k and got one and i am going to get stuff in around a month

  • @ethanmagee100 Since when does it cost $9 to $12 ($9.90 minimum) to ship out ONE pair of sunglasses? It doesn't!!! And a minimum $19.80 for two... and so on and so on? COME ON! It's a scam to get you to purchase their product. Do a little research and you find out that Red Star also owns the shipping company (Refinity)!!! If you got 12 pair, that means you have paid a minimum of $118.80. Purchase a bunch of marked down, one cent glasses and see what your price tag will be. I bet you're a shill!

  • They cant be worse than the $12 piece of crap sunglasses at target. Id just go for it because they are nice looking and will probably be worth what you pay for (about $15?)

  • @Llawilson Then why don't they just sell them for $15 instead of scamming people into believing they have $500 worth of purchasing power to buy what Red Star makes people think are actually high-end sunglasses? Red Star is a dishonest operation. They are targeting and attempting to rope in gullible people. That much is obvious. That alone should be enough for anyone to NOT want to give them money. It amazes me that so many people are willing to shrug that off and get the glasses anyway.

  • I just got the card in maxim, looked it up knew it was bullshit within 5 minutes lol

  • The 9% (minimum $9.90) service fee is based on the ORIGINAL retail price not the marked down price, and the marked down price is what is applied to your gift card. Think of it this way: With the $500 gift card, you could purchase 50,000 sunglasses that are marked down to .01, but your service fee would be based on the original retail price, whatever that is. Minimum, you would pay $495,000 for 50,000 1 cent sunglasses. Red Star is a scam!!!

  • i would first like to see what kind of homework you made to come to the conclusion that this is some kind of communist plight.

  • First of all, Red Star is significant to the Chinese military where, by the way, most of the money goes from all "made in China products" that are sold. Secondly, Russia, who is an ally of China is behind the marketing of this junk. So here is my take on this whole, scam ? The Russians are buying these from the Chinese for peanuts ( same as the U.S. does ) to sell for a huge profit ( or for free) and with the added twist of the 9% (read blank check) gotcha at the end.

  • @dogbig02 you're an idiot

  • @dgk3188 In order for you to disagree with me and resort to name calling it is important to first do some homework. If you choose to do that, I will accept your apology .........

  • Hey you guys they have been checked out by the BBB. Look it up.

  • Throw it away and go to your local gas station. They'll have the same cheap glasses.

  • I just got mine after a race this morning. The 9 percent service fee will put you at spending 45 dollars max. If you buy more than 4 pairs or spend 450 from the card you get to add a watch for free. May be worth it, I am still trying to decide...

  • call 1-800-FREE-GIFT and tell them that you dont want them to send you any more "free" shades. Next time read before you buy shit online

  • if you read the bottom of the page at checkout where there was a check mark in a box next to the word YES, you authorized them to do it. evidently no one knows how to read. so ill help you dumb dumbs out and here is what it says.

  • i got the same gift card in my bicycling magazine. Checked it out online, read some blogs, what happens is after you pay the 9% fee with your credit card they keep your credit card info and it enrolls you in a "sunglasses" of the month type club. The periodically send you new sunglasses and charge your card for shipping without authorization. Also i tried calling the phone # on the back of the card ant it stayed busy every time.

  • @Sandboxhero062 FUCK, are you serious?

  • scammm

  • they stuff isn't worth hundred of dollars in th first place prolly cost em 10 cents to makes

  • $10 for sunglasses - May or may not be worth it. I've seen sunglasses on the street that I'd pay $10 and others that I wouldn't. From what I've read, the quality is decent if you want a cheap pair of shades.

My guess is that the "money-back" guarantee does not cover the 9% fee nor will it cover you shipping them back. If you like the way they look and are willing to risk $10 on it, you might want a pair. My two cents.

  • its only $9.90 shipping fee and they are pretty good glasses. way better than ones you get at a gas station or wal-mart or some place like that. trust me its worth it.

  • The deal is legit, its a marketing attempt to get over in the U.S. You will be prompt to enter a card number that will charge ~$10-20 depending on the pair which will cover S&H. The quality of the glasses isn't to par of what the retail price is on them but they are very good $15 sunglasses for sure! Basically they are better then your gas station sunglasses but inferior to Oakley/Raybands

  • Also, although I don't have this experience with the company yet, if you send the glasses back within 30 days of the invoice (which for me kinda rips me off by 3 weeks) they will credit you your money back. No idea if its store credit or money, but thats the deal.

They aren't worth the supposed retail price, but they are worth the shipping price.

  • They are pretty good, but no the best. I also received another $500 gift card. XD

It seems pretty clear that they are making a profit on the shipping, but frankly, I got 6 pretty good pairs of glasses and 1 watch (got it because it was free, not because I like it, but meh) for about $13 each. I spent about $90 for shipping and handling, and I like the majority of the designs I got.

  • @OverlordMMM How did you spend 90 shipping? 9 percent of 500 is 45 bucks, did you go over 500 or something or was that from both combined cards? How is the watch btw?

  • @NovoaRC You have to read the shipping more carefully. Its based on the original retail price of the glasses, not the amount that you spend. The only way to only spend $45 on shipping is if the whole original price for however many glasses was $500, and that is before the "discount". So if you take into account the "discount" then you probably would spend about $200 of the card for about 2-3 pairs of glasses. Well, unless you got undiscounted ones.

  • As for the actual check-out, there is another promotional offer for them to send you 2 pairs of sunglasses for free each month (except for $20 shipping and handling) for you to make comments about the design. The box is checked automatically, so if you're not interested, uncheck it.

For the delivery, I just got them today, and had ordered them last week, so I'm satisfied by the time frame.

  • Now, because of this, I became extremely wary of the ones that you can pre-order. I was afraid of pre-ordering because they would only add a penny to your order. Now, thats not a big deal, but I had no idea if they would charge me after for the full price, but I'd rather not risk it.

  • The way it works is this: You pay 9% of the retail price for shipping and handling. If you "spend" over $450 you can add one of the watches to your cart for "free" (really $0.01, which makes me think they are starting the coding themselves for the invoice system, but anyway, its negligable)

  • This is long, so I'm multi-posting the info:

Okay, here are a couple things. The place is legit...ish.

I received a $500 gift card from Playboy, just the way you did for that marathon(ironically, the magazine was a part of the promo FYE was doing for their rewards card program, so I got a free gift card from a free magazine. lol).

  • just got it too.

sure i'm buying a pair for my girlfriend, $9 for the shipping, they look decent enough to be worth that. so why the heck not. certainly beats being ripped off by over priced oakleys or ray bans

  • i dont know whether to use my alsoxD Dont know if its a big of a charge. Have you used yours yet if so tell me!

  • use it fool!
