He is adorable. I just adopted my first norwegian forest cat as my boyfriend has wanted one for years. He is only about 11 weeks old right now and looks extremely similar to Loki.

I have never seen so many kittens! I was trying to choose for ages, in the end I brought a little tabby and white boy home. I nearly took a little white girl with one blue and one orange eye. She was adorable but so naughty :o) Just how I like them!

Odin has settled in with our six cats and he has had six dogs to contend with this weekend and he has taken it all in his stride. Love him.

@Seizre he was meant to be a stud cat, selected to go to america but the breeder backed out of the sale at the last minute so yes I think he would have done well in show, but I neuter all my cats so it was not an option for him and sadly he is no longer with us x

can someone give me a bit of clarification? One of my cats was born with six toes. We named him "Hex" as in hexagon. My question is what breed is that? I have seen it before in other cats, and I remember hearing it was called a wellington, but he has a little American shorthair mixed in. Any ideas?

I dont think its unique to any one breed, 6 toe'd cats are called polydactyl and some have 6 each on front and back, others just 6 each on front (referred to a 6,6,6,6 or a 6,6,5,5 !)

It may be Hemmingway that you are thinking of as a name though as Hemmingways first cat (thought to be a maine coon !) had 6 toes ...

a polydactyl cat is seen a a 'deformity' by breed standadrs though so you will never see one in a show :-)

Loki is (was ??!!) the Norse God of Mischief. according to mythology.... an ancient name I guess that applies to many mischievous kitties be they norwegian or not :-)

The one real difference i find about them is that the MC is real horizontal, while the Wegie climbs trees like a monkey. Forty feet up, no problem. Gets down to about 15 feet and then goes headfirst. When i first got the Wegie he would take toys into the bath tub late @ night and make a racket. One night i left about two inches of water in the tub to deter him. Yeah right. Got up to see what was happening, they were both up to their bellies. What do you do? A house is not a home without a cat

I have a 2 year old jet black NFC from a shelter. Got him @ 10 weeks. No idea what he was, being summer. Then winter hit. Wow, what a change. Now weighs in @ 19 lbs. with a massive grey bib and mane. Very loyal, fearless, and intelligent. Also have a 2 1/2 year orange cream tabby Maine Coon mix. who's even bigger. They are inseparable, hang out, sleep, and hunt together. Very similar personalities. The MC is a total purr box, and snores like a passed out drunk. I just love my pals.

Yep :-) I am privileged to be 'owned' by all my cats , wouldnt have it any other way. Unfortunately Loki is no longer with me after an RTA, I miss him but am thankful that he graced me with his love for a short time and Ill bet he is giving them butterflies one hell of a chase on rainbow bridge

They are BIG lap cats LOL ! Depends though... I have 6 NFCs and 3 love to lounge on your lap, the others prefer to lounge on my bed instead. NFC are very affectionate and loving, adventurous, sociable (they love other cats so great for multi cat households) and they do like to get out and about and are very good hunters

8 kilo is a pretty good weight for any cat, but one of my larger males is a solid 8 kilo of muscle, while one of my others (my peter pan NFC cat who stopped growing at 9 months !) is only about 4 kilo...... which is more average for a UK cat

Just so you know it's spelled "Norsk skogkatt(er)" in Norwegian. We don't have the letter ä in our alphabet and its two words instead of one.

A lot of people confuse the two breeds, but they are most definately very different - especially in profile as the Maine Coon has a 'break' in his nose line while the Norwegian has a straight slope from the forehead down. Wegies also tend to be slightly smaller (but chunkier) with less bulbous feet !!!! Both lovely breeds though especially if you like big hairy cats !!

The red tabby is Monty.... aka Aren Elimar of Trappistini, who was (is) my first Wegie...

We have unfortunately lost Loki (my dear logi-bear) to an RTA since this vid was taken... but we have Monty, Milo, Deano, Aoifa and Elsa as our Wegie family now as well as Digby (british blue) and Mr Binks, Jessie, Abbie and Nala (rescue moggies)

Wouldnt be without any of them :-)
