Sorry for my bad english.

I can't understand this, i have i-3, 4gb ram, and geforce g310m (equivalent to geforce 9600) and i can not play this game decently, i have updated drivers, the game is updated, i can not play put the graphics to medium / low, 10fps.

How possible so you can move this gaming having a geforce 8600??

@GreyTester3000 Right now my friend I don't remember the requirements for GTA, however that CPU is a dual-core processor (4 threads but a dual core pc) so I think that might be the issue.

@danfelbm GTA went weird after one update i cant remember exactly what it was, could have been 1.0.4.0 and then a lot of people struggled with, because seriously your rig should be able to handle it no problem. So try re-installing the game with that update.

yeah this game demands triple and quad core processors and it demands those to be clocked at or overclocked to 3.2 ghz to run smoothly. If you have something like a Q6600 at 2.4 stock, it is not enough so you have to reach at least 3 ghz

Yeah of course you'll reach that form of fps but, with graphical options set to high, you'll need alot of cpu speed to pump 30 and higher without going any lower than 30.

I am running on Low textures (not a lot different to Medium Textures) with water on high and everything else on medium. I have draw set to 1 and shadows set to 1 and I have a nice looking game at 30fps or more with little pop-in or fade-in. I have a 256mb 8600GT 2gb DDR2 ram and a 2.8ghz dual core. I am running at 1024x768. So if you have a system as good or better than mine, youwill be able to play it.

mi pc no lo agarra con todos los graficos, debo tener 800x600, lo mas bajo, le bajo todo, la calidad. los detalles, las sombras, lo mas bajo y asi si lo agarra, pero cuando llueve o anochese se hace un poquito lenta, pero aun asi le subo todos los detalles al 100 porciento y no se me hace lenta pero cuando llueve se me hace lenta pero lo disfruto mucho, lastima que no tengo una pc asi de potente como la tuya, gran video 5 stars

i have 8600 gt too with 512 mb and i can play gta 4 with no problemes but just almost 5 or 10 minutes then it blows up what i'm tryin to say is that suddenly it runs just with i don't wanna exaggerate...6-7 fps i mean e.g.: i walk on the streets then it freezes up then after i don't know maybe after 4 seconds it appears the next frame then another 4 sec ....and i can't play this game like this if anyone has discovered a fix on this issue please leave a comment tnks

The 8600GT is indeed a great card. It handles most things, including GTA4. However, having 2 of them (*), I can tell you, the processor makes a huge difference for GTA 4. Comparing the same graphics card on a T7100 and Intel Q6600 makes a massive difference.

(*) I realise even though the laptop version of this card is slightly underclocked, but a comparison of the ratio of framerates for each card for other games gives an indication of GTA's dependance on the CPU.

Yes, its a cool graphic card, you can run games like CoD 4 and 5 at 40 FPS, Crysis at 35+ FPS, Assassins Creed at 30 FPS, Gears of Wars and Unreal Tournament 3 at 45+FPS, Fifa 2009 and PES 2009 at 40 FPS, with everithing maxed out at 1024x768.

But you can buy a 8800gt, this is a better graphic card, with 8800gt you can run all the games I mentioned a lot more FPS also the GTA 4 will run without any problems, its your election..

Si te da muchos más FPS, el solo poner en High Textures te quita unos 6 a 8 FPS + o -.

Si, antes del patch solo me daba 18/22, el parche ayuda mucho, además de que te permite poder usar mandos (gamepads) directimput, y ya no solo los de xbox 360.
