  • This seems to be a very good solution, something that i've been looking for, but I couldn't found a .bashrc file. I created one myself and pasted that line but it didn't work when i restarted.

  • Wow! You're brilliantly awesome! Thanks a lot!

  • @MrCMBstE thanks for using this tutorial mate

  • I use Ubuntu 11.10 and I installed LXDE. I have problems with this. When I do everything you say in video nothing happens.

And one more question: how do you know which shortcut is for which language, how do you know that `ru` is for Russian? I want to make Serbian latin layout.

  • @nikolar91 it must work, but if not - u can just make a script with this command to make it run when lxde starts. if u don't know how to make a script, google has a lot of advices. as for second question. ru for russian it is like something u know all your life but u cant determine who told u that)) i dont know the difference between serbian latin and the original "sr".. sorry

  • @nikolar91 d

  • Hi,

I made this, but after restart nothing work. Now I search for any help 1 years long.

    Xubuntu 11.10, xfce 4.8

  • @MrStanleZ i think in xfce it is pretty straight forward now! u need to install the xfce4-xkb-plugin package with synaptic or apt-get. then right click the panel and click add items, there u will have the layout switching tool. cheers

  • @yooyoomine

Hi, its worked in Lubuntu 11.10 / Xubuntu 11.10 only if at startup I run terminal. If not, I have on panel only US layout. I think, its a way to something start a terminal at startup. But I dont know how to start and close it at startup sequence in Lubuntu / Xubuntu 11.10, in the file .bash.rc or in any other *. conf.

    Thank You, I searching next.

  • @MrStanleZ did u try too look in menus? in "settings" there is "startup applications" that is a part of xfce desktop environment. just paste the command there. it is there for sure cause i have seen it

  • HI yooyoomine,

Today keyboards layouts are finally revealed, using 2 linux manuals.

    Thanks,

    Have a nice day.

    :-)

    Stanley

  • @yooyoomine

Now its finally work as is in my video, indel LXDE, Lubuntu 11.10, Xubuntu 11.10.

  • I've got it, but it is not quite useful, because I use two alternative layouts :) :)

the variant can be called with the funtcion "-variant", but the pitty is that U can use just one variant and not two when setting the parameters to be able 2 swith among them.

syntax: setxkbmap -layout cz -variant dvorak-ucw

...and I made it the "manual way", have assigned shortcuts 4 both layouts and switch them manually, :) thnx anyway

  • hi, thnx.

what about the alternative layouts? I would like to set not just the default layout for some language, but a different layouf for the same language (cz_dvorak, and russian_phonetic_dvorak).

    thnx in advance

I am debian-wheezy-openbox user, but after updating gnome to some gnome shell (although I use just the gnome settings, not the shell), it changed the layouts and I can not set the alternatives. grrrrr. just in xfce, but I am not used 2 it. any ideas?

  • @ssuuddoo i think u can just type cz_dvorak

  • @yooyoomine. :) thnx 4 the advice, but it is an alternative layout so to set it the proper way, I have te set the alternative. By trying the cz_dvorak it says: Error loading new keyboard description

. :) I'm quite getting used to manual shortcuts of changing the keyboard. thnx bro +

  • Thank you very much, but how can I change alt+shift to shift+capslock? I tried shift_capslock_toggle but it doesn't work.

  • @herrtian

    try changing it to Caps_Lock

    should work

  • @yooyoomine thanks for the quick reply but it still doesn't work.

  • @herrtian whhen i'll be home i"ll check
