  • I just got done learning ALL about Illuminati and i decided to never listen to the popular artists that are into illuminati and i'm going to just listen to christian stuff. Now as I'm watching this video and look at the sign he throws up 1:28 Why would he randomly throw up a peace sign? I think it means something more then that... you'd have to learn about illuminati to understand... I AM SHOCKED.

  • Some people are so extreme that if you aren't praising god you're "wrong." Aren't there other ways to honor God besides christian songs like this? I feel like encouraging good, or raising awareness to bad things that happen without directly praising God can be just as good as directly praising him.   • I don't usually like Christian music, I heard this song and I was jammin' to it then I Googled it and found out it was Christian hip-hop and I was like "WTF". I wasn't really paying attention to the words until I listened to it for a second time. Not a fan of Christian music but I still like the song.

  • @smvr Although this music is uplifting and it does encourage us to want to do "better" i put that in quotes because even our most righteous works are covered in sin but people can listen to whatever music as long as they dont go out and do whatever it is the artist is saying.

  • @cliffe98 I get what you and smvr are saying, but being a future rapper myself, I've learned a lot from listening to rappers like Big Pun and Eminem, among others. Now aside from select songs, most of Eminem's material isn't pointing me towards God, and same with the others'. But see, I just listen to them cause of their lyrical abilities, not cause I agree with, or condone what they rap about (again aside from select songs). But I also listen to Lecrae and Trip Lee to bring me back on track.

But what I'm saying is, I can learn a lot from non-Christian rappers, and use that knowledge to make my Christian raps better. I don't think we should only limit ourselves to only Christian music, or we'll miss out on a lot. At the same time however, we should have a healthy mix of the 2; listening to non-Christian music for listening pleasure, and Christian music for inspiration and to keep us on the path for God.

  • @SpikedJerex rap better then ask God to give you the words, show you the beats, listen for His flow. He can teach you more than any other rapper can. If you are influenced by worldly rappers and their style then your rhymes and your raps will be as well. It becomes tainted with them. Again darkness and light dont mix.     He isn't saying that he's taking the stuff the artists rap about, he's taking technique. And i guarantee you Lecrae uses the same techniques as the top secular rappers. Don't forget that the man that is considered the greatest rapper ever, Tupac, probably influenced Lecrae at some point in his life.

    You cannot use what you learn from those in the world in your Christian life. It is the same as offering GOD unclean sacrifices and worship/praise.

    We gain nothing from listening to the music of those in the world. Rappers like Eminem, Jay Z, Kanye West dissaprove Christianity and have said that they have sold their souls to the devil. What can you possibly gain from them?

  • @DamianHeinz I learned rhyming techniques, such as internal rhyming and multisyllable rhyming, among others. These techniques have improved my raps greatly; which in turn, allows me to praise God even more greatly. If by listening to non-Christian raps it allows me to praise God better, I don't think that's wrong.

    And yes, I realize God can give me all that and much more, but perhaps He did give me that knowledge, by allowing me to listen to those other rappers.

And I'm pretty sure that you can use things you learn in a secular way to praise God. . . people learned how to make speakers through secular means, learned how to make hearing aids through secular means. Without those many people would not be able to hear sermons. People made contacts through secular means.

Music is an artistic expression, just as painting is an artistic expression. So are you saying any painting that isn't about God is wrong and is only a reminder or a bad state of being?
