Wow! This is an awesome recording. Thanks for it! And for that guy who says this isn't ABBA... Only one swedish gal has that voice... and it's Agnetha.
It's totally ABBA--I was there in '79. True, the tape is a little fast, but they did sing it a little faster/higher pitched in concert, that I remember distinctly. Thank you!
I was 10 years old when I saw this in '79...Thank God for YouTube and you out there for posting this! Great quality-those girls really sounded like that! Light a candle for an ABBA reunion!
Fantastic! Would love to get hold of a bootleg of the 1979 concerts. I was there at Wembley, aged 11, and it's such a shame they didn't put out a straight recording of a gig. Rather than the edited to death ABBA Live thing.
WOW..doesn't matter if this is a 30 year old bootleg recording, us fans can still appreciate this song. I have never heard it live before and Agnetha's wide range is clearly evident here. Belting that high is not an easy task. It is true that this version sounds about a semi-tone higher than the original and much faster but it's probably the quality of the bootleg (since when did bootlegs come in HD/Stereo?) and not the quality of the performers. Ags rocked it and thanks for posting this.
You're probably right...I didn't go back to check my video. I think the notes that Aggie holds for a longer time is the ones she holds from Gimme Gimme Gimme...bit like I say, I'll have to recheck.
Guitars were tuned with a strobe tuner so they would be in tune with the piano that stayed tuned to pitch as well. They weren't messing with pitches and tunings and playing in higher keys in concert. The original performance has been sped up at some point and this raises the pitch of any recording. This recording is out of tune with any instrument tuned to pitch. This doesn't take anything away from the band. It's just a fact, it's not how they rolled, they were more professional than that.
the recording is not sped up, that's how they rolled, they were musical geniuses, and many of their live versions are faster a tad, and then some of them are a tad slower. They definitely would of been the live act to see for sure...ALIVE, and being spontaneous and all that good stuff that goes along with a live show. Yeah, I wouldn't mind getting a hold of one of those Milwaukee Live CDs (hint)...cheers!
Someone sped up the recording of this version. If you listen to the studio version, you'll notice that it is at least 1/2 step lower in key. Most performers will if anything, lower the key for live work, highly doubtful they sped it up and played it in a higher key live. Doctored recording.
This is not a doctored recording, its 100% live and raw. The tape speed is slightly fast. You only need compare it to other live recordings from the same tour to see this version (and infact the entire concert) is slightly faster than it should be.
Never the less the quality is quite good considering when it was recorded.
GualdAnubis, thanks for posting this track. It's the first time I get to listen to a live version of this song. I wonder why they sang it live much faster than in the studio version.
ABIT FAST SOUND MUNCHKINS

With just a few exceptions where the lips don't match the singing, I could have sworn this was the actual live performance. Pretty good job there.

no their live versions were not the same as the album versions

I think it's only slightly faster because it was originally recorded on a tape recorder (79).
Still, pretty keen to hear.
