  • yeAH PETE!!! LIKE THIS IF YOU LIKE PETE!!

  • Comment removed

  • NO this is taken from a 16 inches transcription with the announcement and the genuine ONE I am Afraid

  • Then the announcer really didn't know what he was talking about. The B19 wasn't a dive bomber.

  • @coy0te9 great music... but I came because of the X B-19 bomber... and yes, not a dive bomber. Only one was made as it was experimental and became obsolete..A shame it was scrapped..

  • I got a record of this number, and there it's called "Answer to the Boogie".

    Cheers!

  • this song reminds me of "boogie woogie jump", but its defenetly not the "Dive Bomber"

  • There shouldnt be much debate. Pete, uh, rePeted himself, in that he reclycled various bass lines and riffs into different titles. But THIS tune on THIS Utube post is NOT Dive Bomber! The 1944 recordings by Brunswick are the definitive Pete, at his best. Somewhat as an aside, it is possible some of the tunes on the Brunswick recordings, such as Dive Bomber, were recorded with a bass player subtley mixed, and glued to the bass line.

  • Not to argue, but on the original recording of Dive Bomber, Pete drops a bunch of beautiful dissonant "bombs" near the end, which add vivid images to the piece's title. This recording is not live, but radio, and the title announced was miscued by the DJ or whoever.

  • none the less..it still swings dont you agree?? have a nice weekend :)

  • I have original Brunswick 10" recording. This is not Dive Bomber ... Right, this is Answer

  • Didn't really hear Pete sounding like a B19, lol, but loved his piano playing, and that's what matters! :-)

  • yep :)

  • Listen to Dive Bomber, not this song, the real one, and go to @ 1 minute 53 seconds, you will hear the bombs.

  • Nice song, but these comment are confusing me. Lets get this straight. Is this Dive Bomber or Answer to the Boogie?

  • I dont know lol..you can clearly hear he saying that this is Dive Bomber, but maybe again Pete J. had more versions of the song??

  • That sounds possible... But the songs seem too different for him to have made them the same song, they don't even sound that much the same. But who knows?

  • In several recordings that I have, this is the piece called "Answer To The Boogie" (K. Holden too) recorded in NY, February 17, 1944. Strange.

  • me too, how odd...

  • seems this is the real "Dive Bomber" by Pete Johnson. The "Dive Bomber" which is normally posted on youtube seems to be actually "Answer to the Boogie" by K. Holden. See also boogieman69's comment to "Dive Bomber" posted by Kassaa.

  • Yes this is the original "Dive Bomber". I like this one a lot , trying to learn it..

  • I like too! Years ago I began to transcribe it on sheet music. Now I want to go on.
