Let me add cats are VERY territorial, especially males. Females will take less time, males will roughly need a few weeks to a month. If your original cat after a month is stil having hard times PLEASE wait out your cats life before getting another "new" cat otherwise you will only bring stress into you cats life.

I just recently got a kitten in my house with aleady two cats age 5 and 6. Let the animal world play out by itself!! Obviously human contact with the animal world has proven to be at a major FAULT!! Let the elders (cats) teach the new kitten the right way to live respectly! With this knowledge within two days my two cats live very well with the new kitten. REMEBER PPL our days are much longer then theirs and for a kitten they forget quickly from humans and LEARN FAST from other cats!!

Do your cats get on now? It's just we got a new kitty and our cat HATES her. The older cat (she's only 2) is scared of the kitten and only comes in to eat then she's gone. Although she plays with other cats from the estate and allowed them into our home! She doesn't even sit on our knee's any more and growls at us. I think I'll have to find a new home for the kitten if she doesn't come round as she was here first. If anyone has any ideas they'll be MOST welcome. Thanks.

Generally speaking people that buy pets tend to spend at least some amount of time with them each day so it's not pathetic at all.
