In the U.S. in 2012 the 21st century, there are 1,682 to 1800+ abuse shelters for women, 5,000+ abuse shelters for animals, and "0" abuse shelters for men. (N.D.V. Hotline, N.C.A.D.V., and A.S.P.C.A.).
Despite the fact that domestic violence occurs at nearly the same percentages against men, as it does women, there is no funding, no facilities and no contribution at any level to help men deal with this growing epidemic, There is a single Domestic Violence shelter in Lancaster, CA that serves men also. It is staffed entirely by volunteers and run off donations, but their waiting list is nearly a year. This single shelter that also accepts some men has been extensively harassed for doing so.
Glad to see this; I am tired of domestic violence being portrayed in the UK as something that only ever involves violence from men to women. There is violence in gay and lesbian relationships and from women to men as well
ive had a violent partner although was never scared of her ,the punches was like thin air ,was mostly scared of myself as im gental in nature but im still a hot blooded beast that pumps up like 50x more adrenaline but its the mental abuse thats the worse although i knew the things she was saying was just a emotional routine from her previous partner who was abusive to her so was easyer for me to understand it ,plus i knew where the door was if it got to much ,no need to listen to that crap
Pretty impressive. Nice that men in Northamptonshire can be safe from abuse, shame about everywhere else though. Seems this scheme has introduced more places for male victims in this one small county than in the rest of the nation put together!
The BBC is so sketchy on the issue though. One day it will put out a factual piece like this, but 9 times out od 10, it will perpetuate the stereotypes, of DV as an exclusively or mainly male on female crime, despte the stats showing women initiate tha majority of DV.
I may have my position and I am very much UN-PC, but I don't have to resort to name calling...even though I know where most said terminologies come from.
This is fantastic, it's a ray of hope for change. Not only that these wonderful women are doing this, but also that it's being researched and reported.

Glad also a crime survey asked the same questions about violence to both genders. That makes a change.

We need to demand more of this indeed across the board, but here's the problem:
Did you all notice that it took a MALE SAME-SEX PARTNER for this to happen or at least to be reported?
So don't get your HOPES up too high, because something doesn't sound right.
At least now, we know how much homosexuals beat up one another!
Let us just continue to WORK more for this.

Ah, good eye for detail. I missed that. I should be more keen to noticing pc phrasing like "male same-sex partner."

Name calling?
menareangrynow 2 years ago
Hey, what did you mean by name calling?
menareangrynow 2 years ago
I refer to any sort of name calling that is directed toward "male same-sex partners".
That's what I was talking about.

@FinalJusticeMovement
Where did you hear anything mentioned about a "same sex partner"? I just heard a mention of an "ex-partner"
