Hi hi! Have you thought about the X7 Guitar Mind Implant (just google it)? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my father learned to play quickly with it.
here's something beautiful... the open E ft at the end of the video.... the Open B ft in the vid and then F# open ( i think) then the open A ft in the video! :D and then the strumming patten used in the video :D
Dear Dave! I'm learning to play the guitar for a hole 8 days now, and practice about 2 hours every day, and of course watch all kind of lessons her on Utube, and all I wanted to say, is that I think that U R the BEST teacher ever! Thank U, I can play a few songs now, and enjoying it very much! :)
this was a good lesson, but i dont get why the first chord is a B add 11, because the eleventh would be a C sharp, but idt theres a C sharp in the chord?
What I don't understand is if the type of the chord depends on the key that you're in or if it's just that same chord because of the position.. I'm thinking it's a little bit of both, right?
down down down up up down up down up down down down up up down up down up down down down up up down up down up down down down up up down up down up lol
I love those chords, as much as I'm working on getting my grade 2 music theory I just screw around and am usually gravitated to chords with that sort of sound; which is awesome because as well as they sound, you can move around them very well and throw around the strumming pattern along with the shape to make different harmonies ring out :D give it a shot; all you can do is try -- thanks for sharing these lovely chords
wow. the barred and 'open' B chord have a completely different feel. each has its place, but one is not a substitute for the other. the bad news is that even tho barre chords can suck to play (just like an open F can) in order to play guitar you have to learn them. ie there is no short cut.
Actually, this chords inspired me very much and i made a song based on this chords. I think its worth watching its in my channel. Not my best interpretatión. But please if you have the time take a look and comment. Greetings from venezuela.
if you've got fat pinkies (like me) and struggle with bar chords because of your fingers (like me) you can try and use your thumb rather than your index finger. works well for me
I love these cords! So fun and so many opportunity's. You just get an amazing ring off an acoustic for these cords. I would love to try these on a 12 string acoustic... if only I had one =P
OMG!!! I never would have though of trying this. Thank you so much for this lesson. This opens up a new world of sounds. I can't wait to try this out tomorrow night at Joy Night!!
hey david, i am 15, a girl, so my fingers are kind of short and some notes i can't reach, is a real big problem for me... is there anything i can do to cure this?
Hey Dave, What kind of strings do you use on your Taylor? They sound great. How long before you change your strings ? Thanks for all the lessons. Rock on
I like medium gauge strings - I prefer the thicker strings on my electrics and acoustics as personally I like the thicker tone that the thicker strings produce. I change strings often as I dont want to break one live on stage.
Awesome lesson David! I remember when I was first starting out, I would play my "bar" chords like that, but I just wouldn't let the high strings ring out. I'd basically just do a power chord with the added minor 3rd note played with my middle finger. I was just being lazy, but now you made me notice that it sounds cool if you add the open high strings!
To hdahcnnoD: Try stringing your guitar Jimi Hendrix style (with the strings revesed) on a right-handed guitar, making it play like a leftie!
I've been playing guitar for a little while now, and i want to know whether to buy a new acoustic or electric.
Now, I really like the v100 as an electric, but i also really like acoustics. I'm stuck! I don't know what to buy, but here's the two i have my eye on:
Ibanez AEG10NE (Electric Acoustic) (179 pounds)
Vintage V100
Does anybody have any recommendations on another acoustic? My price range is only 200 pounds...
Well, I try to flip back and forth... Like, my first guitar was an acoustic, then I got an electric, and then a new acoustic... And so on and so forth. So, if you really have a hard time deciding, you can try doing that, or just whatever gives you the best bargain.
Geez, David, you're like the perfect guitarist. You can make this amazing riffs and improvs outta nowhere, barre chords perfectly, and know all of the musical theory on this...which leads me to an almost interviewing question (if you don't mind, lol)
What are your shortcomings as a guitarist? How do you tackle them?
haha, today, I just started and finished learning the intro of Nothing Else Matters and half of the solo (Only playing for 1 and a half months, it isnt bad, eh?) and I was playing around with its chords.
So I got this amazing progression right from it and its so powerful and I feel SO good playing it. Now I get why people say they practice for hours...because they can't stop playing some things!
If you want a good song to practice these pseudo barre cords, try "For You I Will" by Teddy Geiger. It uses the Badd11, Aadd9, and F#7add4 that David shows, as well as a simple open E and a couple other psuedo bars, and that's it!
In addition to playing these chords as David does, you can hammer your index finger down to the barred version of the chord and back up again to add a bit of funkiness to your rhythm.
