I think it more accurate, from what I know of him, to call him a pretty emotionally disturbed guy who happened to be in the right place at the right time (or the wrong place, for people around him...) and really had no moderating influences whatsoever in his life. I'll bet there are loads of troubled people who, given absolute power with zero responsibility, could've ended up as twisted as him. In fact I think I know a few already. They're jolly nice!
