Wow. Haven't heard this since I saw him play it in concert at a small venue in 1984. At the time it really blew our minds because it was totally unique at the time. Still is amazing, but I now appreciate the composition as well. Shame that we lost him.
It kinda depends actually. Andy admits in his interviews that he started off on electric guitar, playing along to bands such as Metallica, until he came across Michael Hedges, which was his introduction to fingerstyle guitarists.
Unless someone else like Preston Reed was his intro to the music, then I'd agree.
Yes, it was indeed a Preston Reed concert, not tape. Andy said so at a live show I attended (and filmed - the whole thing is on my channel if anyone cares)
Andy McKees's "The Friend I Never met" was written in homage to Michael Hedges. Hedges was a big influence on McKee's music. Without Hedges, McKee wouldn't be the groundbreaking guitarist he is today. Can't help but love them both.
First comment, Great sound thanks for posting. got to put the first five star rating you should have lots of these to come!! Check Judy and I out from Vancouver Island Canada thanks again.
