  • awesome to hear Sweetwater reopened

  • It's especially cool when you consider that they're all probably stoned out of their gourds.

  • Jerr! It's in the Soul and from the great beyond. Fingers do the talking

  • Mill Valley's Good ol' days!

  • AWSOME !!

  • I think Jerry just wanted to jam a little with JB and Elvis.

  • Happy Birthday Commander!!!!!!!

  • SEE WHY DRUGS GET A BAD NAME!

    ROFL!

  • Except I believe this to be at the Sweetwater in Mill Valley Ca.m not Fairfield theater in CT. Haggar even says Mill Valley

  • Wow!

    Thank you!

  • Partied with CC in San Juan Pr Hilton 2005,what a good time.

  • Love how animated everyone gets while Jerry just chills in the background and kills.

  • Hitting a riff overtrue while in the meantime

    yes, Jerry G!

  • Hitting a riff overtrue while in the meantime

  • there ya go we be then when

  • What a group of musicians. I am seening this video for the first time. I really appreciate this being put out there on You Tube.

  • What a group of musicians. I am seening this video for the first time. I will post something tomorrow.

  • Does anyone know what happened to the video of "I'm Going Down" from this same event?

  • The roof must have exploded off the joint...incredible.

  • That's a cool trick - Jerry Garcia "Feb 22, 2008" when he expired and passed Aug 9 1995 !!!

    How'd you do that?!

  • coool i wish i was there good fun

  • James Burton on telecaster!

  • Elvis is Everywhere

  • Sammy Hagar is a tool

  • This is Mill Valley's Sweetwater!! DAMN!!

  • Considering that Jerry Garcia died in the 90s, I tend to doubt this is from February 2008.

  • Commander Cody is the greatest, love to hear that Hot Rod Linclon...

  • lets see 1989 i spun my crankshaft wrong snap my crankshaft to my big rig sold my 50 pan to get some new power then got my power stolen lost my whole gig and now i find out that i missed this jam gee thanks for posting this vidio

  • One reason I love this video is that, for all the stuff people say about Garcia's custom guitars and electronics, here he is playing a borrowed Fender Jaguar through a solid state Peavey amp and he sounds EXACTLY like Jerry Garcia! It's in the fingers; anybody says it isn't, play them this video.

  • jazzmaster, actually... but your pint still well taken....

  • Ack! You're right, sorry.

  • @LongJohnny53 Great point, not to mention this applies to all he played in the 60's and early 70's...... people who put down Garcia's playing are not paying attention or listening.

  • @LongJohnny53 There ya go -couldn't agree more!

  • Jimmy Burton AND Jerry Garcia?!?!?!

Where was I when this was going on. Oh that's right I was only 3 years old. Good stuff though.

  • I have this show on tape, its dated April 29, 1989...

  • what year is this??? obviously its not 2008

  • Yeah, no doubt. I wonder what year this was? 1993? 1994?

  • looks like a buncha got -dam hippies got-damit

  • Xa iT'S WICKED GROOVY!

  • Place looks familiar, the old Sweetwater Saloon. Great video.

  • The Commander is the coolest....

  • Strang Jam session for sure.

  • I need to find the Quiet Riot version of this song, we can listen to it on the new ''Extended Versions'' CD, at the beginning, but only the end. You can also here it in some of the early QR shows with Randy Rhoads.

  • To be able to see heavyweight rock stars like Sammy, Jerry and Elivs C rock together is awsome!

  • this just proves garcia's tone is all in his fingers not his gear.

  • Sammy, it said that on the bathroom wall because you do not belong on stage with Garcia

  • man...this is by far the Strangest jam session I've ever seen, completely dissimilar artists. J. Garcia on Costello's Jazzmaster is cool to see also.

  • what an ensemble! i bet that was 1 fun show!

lol. don 't have much exposure to sammy, but sounds like the graffiti in the bathroom was meant for him. lol.

  • James Burton is great but the song rocked out because of Jerry. Watch him after its over, he still wants to play.... too funny

  • Yeah, Jerry seems to be playing the Jazzmaster (probably Declan's) over everything else.

  • This is from April 19889 and definitely at the (original) Sweetwater Saloon in Mill Valley, CA. The song is Lieber & Stoller's "Riot in Cell Block #9." I'm pretty sure this is the lineup... Commander Cody (vocals) Sammy Hagar (vocals) Annie Sampson (vocals) Jerry Garcia (guitar) Elvis Costello (guitar) James Burton (guitar) Mitch Woods (keys) Pete Sears (bass) Scott Matthews (drums)
  • Um, that should be 1989!

  • You got that line up correct. And the Sweetwater was such a FANTASTIC place! Always hot musicians sitting in! Thanks takashi37

  • @takashi37 yeah, this is definitely at the sweetwater in mill valley. I went to dozens of shows there back in the day.

  • @takashi37 yes you're right, this place unfortunately closed I believe a few years ago after many glory years. This is surely just one of many legendary eclectic jams that took place in tht spot. James Burton and Jerry Garcia and Elvis Costello on the same jam.... brain explosion stuff.

  • by gollie,that is sweetwater

  • cool jerry garcia back from the dead, no pun intended

  • What a surprise. Jerry setals the show brother

  • where and when is this from?

  • how is jerry there after he is dead? interesting

  • where that other video now? going down was on here, hmmm.

  • where that other video now? going down was on here, hmmm.

  • Great video.

Some pretty cool people having a pretty cool time.

Thanks for putting this out here.

  • WhyTF does this say:

Commander Cody and Professor Louie & The Crowmatix

    Friday, February 22, 2008 7:30pm

    Fairfield Theatre Company's StageOne

Are they using this great vid from the Sweetwater to pimp one of their shows??

    Lammmmmmme

  • A close up of the Commander's sweaty buttocks- just what we need in the middle of a Garcia guitar solo!! But seriously though- this is brilliant. Thank you very much indeed. Thank you.

  • grate stuff!!

  • Met Commander Cody in San Juan P.R. in 03 at the Caribe Hilton,Partied together ,and hung out for two days. What a trip

  • this is incredible! thnx!
