  • The best part of this was the ending...

  • The tempo is waaayyyy to fast. The men are sharp. The descant soprano was a tad sharp too. And what is up with JeriKOO??? Ugh.... This is just not a good rendition I'm sorry to say :(

  • There was NOOO dynamic contrast and was way too fast....Horrible i'm sorry

  • Terribly fast

  • Wow terribly fast...Good vocals tho

  • Great voices though. :)

  • I feel like this song DOES need to have drive, but the tempo is too fast when the choir can't sing all of the stylistic markings that Hogan placed.

  • wayyyy toooo fasttttt kinda terrible

  • tooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fast.

  • First of all what was the point of playing the notes if they gonna come in entirely out of the key ?

  • Entirely too fast!!

  • the fuck is this rendition. horrible

  • I've been looking around the web for *IMO* good interpretations of The Battle of Jericho by Moses Hogan and this was by far one of the worst.

The singers had no time to even sing and get the words out, and then it hits a brick wall at the climax.

I'm highly disappointed that the masses, via the internet, are truly missing out on the beauty of Moses Hogan's material.

You should attempt to understand the purpose and source material of this song before singing. It would help!

  • OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I was in TSU Concert Choir, this was one of my favs and never did we sing it like this. Doc??????

  • I agree with the "too fast" comments

  • this is the worst performance of this piece I have ever heard.

  • this is one of the worst performances of this song I have ever heard. My choir sang it just last month so I know this piece pretty well. This however, did no justice to the song.

  • why do a majority of the choirs that sing this say jereeecho? i dont get it

  • Great Job...I did this song in High School at a much faster tempo and it was orignaly written to be at a up tempo

  • Yeah, though they have already said it, the Tempo is jacked up to a crazy ass jack rabbit speed. But let's talk about that tenor section that was flat for half the song....what? we're not gonna talk about the elephant in the room? oh. okay, nevermind. lol.

  • I have not the slightest idea the director felt the need to do "Uncle Luke Remix" going so fast. But I will give them props for being that clear and precise at that speed!!!

  • hmmmmmm waaayy to fast. but still pretty good.

  • i think they did a great job on this song. I loved the speed and the clarity of the whole thing. I watched it twice to see why someone would think Doc Net was trying to slow the choir down but he was not. That is the way he directs. For as long as i can remmeber that song has always been sung quickly. To me it adds a sense of urgency to the whole thing, almost to say " come see this!! the walls are tumbling down!!!" GREAT JOB TSU!!!!

  • WAY TO FAST BUT GREAT SOP. SOLO

  • This was their own rendition of the song....as noted in the description of this..

They did a great job with making it their own and it takes talent to be able to go so fast in it.

  • go tennessee love ya guyz (tho u could slow down its supposed to be slow and soft)

  • It's purposely fast because they made their own rendition of it.

  • It was kinda fast but it sound was amazing

I would give u guys a standing ovation

  • the tempo was EXTREAMY too fast..but yall were good..i go to WESTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY our choirs should get together...

  • Tempo is WAY too fast! However, the clarity of the diction very good.

  • Regardless of the rushed tempo this was extremely impressive and that soprano solo was beyond fabulous.

  • did someone hit the fast forward button?!

  • ahh r u guys angry?

  • seems like everyone has something to say negative about this song...I really enjoyed...it was sung a tid bit faster, but yet it was awesome...

  • This is a mess... The Tempo is way too fast and the Vowel place of the Women is a mess too.... and they The Ladies are Flat!! I think moses would turn over in his grave

  • Sing TSU... I remember those days with Dr. Nettles lol. Yes it was extremely FAST but yall held it down

  • kinda speedy but sounded awesome at the same time...wat a gift!

  • OH LORD way too fast

  • i dont like it. it makes me dizzy. omg. slow down. that didnt even give me TIME to get goosebumps.

  • A little too frantic, and the vowels are a bit wonky (the 'o' in 'Jericho' being more like an 'oo' than a pure 'o')

  • Too fast but i have to admit they had great diction

  • was it just me or were they singing in two diff keys between the men and women..oh and SLOW DOWN!!!

  • way too fast

  • the song is supposed to be quick and powerful, but it was rushed

  • wooooooooooow every thing is one big jumbled word, its horrible. Why would you ruin such a great song by rushing through it like that. The sapranos were on point tho, very nice.

  • tooooo fast!!! but great soprano!!!!

  • the conductor is clearly trying to slow them down but THE Choir decided they wanted to speed it up.

  • That was rushed.

  • The tenor's can't keep up with it in the end, frankly.

  • Way to FAST!!!

  • i like how the speed gives it a frantic quality

  • too fast...men are sharp as possible you might as well say they changed the key.

  • TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fast!

  • @GoUkraina The estimated time is 2:40 and they did theirs in under 2

  • Guys, slow down and keep in tune. Where's the feeling?!

  • Wow the creshendo just wasn't there... too fast. Now Daemon Irrepit Callidus is a sppppeeeeeeddd song, that one was fun.

  • that was wayy too fast!!

  • the descant is way way toooo loud!!!!

  • Good Stuff TSU!!!!

  • Was this trolled by some angry Lipscomb student or something?

  • This is super fast, but there are a lot of things that I liked about it too. Like Eagles mentioned, the diction was clear, and we all know that clear diction is important (reminds me of a hillarious video i saw earlier today about clear diction and O fortuna). I have a pet peeve, and that is people moving/ scratching during performance. Girl in the front row... no no no!

  • i have to agree with hut765 but what made is semi-work was how clear and clean the diction was moses hogan himself says the song should last 2:40 which is a fast enough temp as it is!

  • It went so fast that there was no musicality to it at all. sops were sharp and the mens parts weren't ballanced.
