This song describes exactly why I don't feel comfortable in church. Everyone there is always so obviously fake, it's scary. Stressful not being allowed to fall apart in God's buildings and express true emotions when in worship and prayer due to social pressures from everyone else who is obsessed with everyone thinking they are perfect and expecting everyone else to play the game too. I hate it.

Because we are afraid to express our true emotions (due to fear of what others will think) we have become fake. If you didn't care about being "perfect" or "normal", you would just drop down in worship to God.

Many people in the church are in your position ........ afraid......... each person is afraid in a different way.......and then it causes them to be fake. Their fear is holding them back from showing their true emotions.

6 month ago my life was falling apart all around me but everyone in church expected me to wear a face that wasn't real. It finally got to the point that I could no longer do it, so when people would ask me how I was doing I would try to tell them. i think that you need to look to Jesus to fill your loneliness, and then His love shining through you will draw others near. as for not being able to sing, not everyone is gifted with a talent to sing. i know i sure wasn't. but that's why there are voice lessons available. if you like to sing, you should look into some. but honestly, if you want to sing to God, He thinks your voice is beautiful, so sing out to Him and forget the critics. in the end, He is the One that matters.
