  • @jheins000 I can imagine that you are very exited to welcome your first RR at your home!

It will be a great challenge to channel the combined hunting drive of your GSP and the RR new comer! Nevertheless, it will be a joy to own such fantastic breeds. I'm looking forward to your videos!!!!

  • It's an extremely special breed, solely for special people who understand them...

Far better than any other breed...

  • Hi SwornSwordll, just let me ask you something, would you choose a RR or a Rott for a guard dog?

  • Hi,

That is the best looking Rhodesian Ridgeback that I have ever seen. Just about all of the ones that you see have a lot of white on them. Although the Breed Standard allows a moderate amount of white on the dog, I personally like to have as little as possible. In my view, a lot of white, especially on the chest, can make a Ridgeback look like a mongrel dog. That's just my personal taste, ofcourse, but that is my preference. Ridgebacks are my second-favorite breed, behind Rottweilers.

  • This is an absolute awesome video!

  • I loved to watch your videowork !

Ridgebacks are a gift to us !

    5* !

  • Amazing dog you have there. I just lost my best friend , Rommell , yesterday. He lived to be 15 yrs. old., best dog a man couldve ever had! Rhodesian Ridgeback are DOGS!!! Everything else is just a substitute!!

  • Although 15 years is a "proud age" I feel sorry for the loss of your best friend! :-(((

And yes, Ridgebacks are something different!

  • Thank You ..... I will get another one someday, just now is not the right time. All the best to you & yours....

  • Hey you have got to check out this youtube page: foundonly -- there is a posted video they have claiming that Ridgebacks get their ridge as a result of Spinabifida, and the breed basically suffers from this quite often etc.. -IS THIS NOT Fing STUPID ?! Its just misinfo & naturally the source of the video is the BBC, so go figure. Most people know the ridge is from the wild cross of the Hottentott dog & possibly Hyena ,ignorance irritates the shit outta me...how bout you?

  • I fully agree with you!

I simply ignore stupidity like that, because what else can you do?

  • @hazor777 I saw this video too and it actually frightened me until I checked out some proper research conerning the ridges ...........how did that shit even get aired lmfao they claimed that rhodesians without a ridge are thus promised to be free of dermus sinus ...lies lol

  • @hazor777 Well everybody thinks that their favorite breed is the most special. Ridgebacks do have a unique dignity to them, I'll admit, but one can say the same about Dobermans, Chow Chows, German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Irish Terriers and dozens of other breeds. They're all good.

  • @JackKangaroo1 : I NEVER SAID I WASN'T BIASED. haha! There is great article onn the net about why a Ridgeback should never be trained as a guard dog -it is naturally inbred in them-the short of it: Ridgeback had to be prodded to attack on command & considered it a "game"-trainer twisted her ear a little to get a reaction & she ripped the protect cover off the arm guard. Ridgebacks are extremely smart dogs, other breeds are as well, but some need CONT>>>

  • @JackKangaroo1 :CONT>> some breeds need to learn the 'command/task' conditioning before it is ingrained.

  • @hazor777 I've had a German Shepherd, a Chow and a Doberman Pinscher. I didn't train any of them for guard work but they were all extremely protective. The German Shepherd, an un-neutered male, was downright nasty to anyone he didn't know. My Doberman, a spayed female, was quite friendly but still protective. I've been told that Ridgebacks are great guard dogs but do it on their own terms, much like a Kuvasz or a Chow. They have an independent streak that working breeds don't share.

  • @JackKangaroo1 : "INDEPENDENT" - that sums them up perfectly. Concerning the guard dog status, IMO it is a relief to know that RR's will only attack if they are sure there is a threat -in a world of loser ass lawyers looking for their next chance to make a dog owner's life miserable, this is a bonus (just look at the unpredictability & reputation of pitbulls) -though their owners(insert ghetto loser here) are mostly to blame.+RR's are great with kids & other animals

  • @hazor777 AMEN!

  • Stunning dog.
