I also think it kind of sucks that on the day The Tigers chose to honor Mark's memory,a true Tiger Legend, the day was devoted to the memory of someone else,not even a Tiger.

Well, I wish we had some actual video/film footage of The Bird. He was great fun and when you're from Detroit, you know what a gift he was to the City. Thanks Mark, happy journey to you along your spiritual way!

Well, I wish we had some actual movie/film footage of The Bird. He was such fun. And I wish he had had a lot more years in the Bigs. Well, I like what FiberMania said: "he got to live his dream". God bless you, Mark, and your family. You made the 70's a lot of fun.

too bad, when I read this on MSN two seagulls floated down the screen and pooped on his leg! I was like you gotta be kidding me! I refreshed but it didn't happen again. I thought the birds flying was actually pretty cool, but the poop part was a bit of a curve ball.

This is very sad. By all accounts, Mark Fydrich was a simple and good hearted country boy who got to live his dream. After his brief career in baseball, he was content with his blue collar lifestyle, never seeking to capatalize on his fame. God rest his soul and God bless his family.
