It is a mirror in the middle with an opening at the bottom of the crate at the far side .

One could sit in a chair behind the box and take one's shoes off first, placing them carefully to the side. The audience focus will be on why are the shoes removed?

Then while seated, plunge both feet, together and side by side into the box, perhaps feigning difficulty making them stay down in the box. This will solve the disappearing far leg problem

Then use the chair as an aid in standing up as if the box has some kind of opposite magnetic repelling force causing one to wobble around

Stepping in with the far leg and allowing it to be seen is a major blooper!

But not seeing the head and shoulders makes for a tougher sell. I'd bet with practice, and the right costume, like a loose fitting jacket, one could master a hunch that makes one appear upright, and then actually straighten up from the hunch to make the head and shoulders "rise" with the feet and box.

Otherwise, a very cool illusion concept that would be even more amazing if performed live!

sorry but when you placed yr first foot in you placed it into the side hidden by the mirror where the hole in bottom of box is.This is clearly seen (not seen as the case may be) because altho you have put yr foot in the box you cant see yr shin etc cos its masked by the mirror. Need to work on yr performance and jump in like you jump out to disguise the fact a mirror is present. Sorry! Ive not seen this done with the 2nd part tho with the box lifting too, nice concept.
