  • you can shift on the red... just dont keep it in red..

  • Speedo with mph looks really unusual.

On official russian ST`s we don`t have a low washer fluid warning

  • Looking for something a lot quicker than my £500 Saab 9-3... is the Focus ST it? Undecided whether the Golf Edition 30 with stage 1 would be the better bet, over 300bhp with ease. The ST doesn't look much quicker than my old manky Saab.

  • I used to own one of these, and before that a golf gti, both great cars, but now i own a civic type r, for lond jorneys and a sporty ride will be and st, for classy looks with performance will be the gti, but race track pedigree and stability, civicR......... ST good car thou!!

  • Not bad pulling there! I have just done an exact vid on my focus Rs mk2 but running next to 440bhp! Have a look :)

  • Good job mate

  • wasting valuable revs changing well before the limiter. Thats where all the power is

  • @clough103 lol

  • @dave1890 has it got 6 gears??great changing anyway mate;D

  • @alien2510 Yes six gears

  • @clough103 Nope. All the rev limiter does is protect the engine from spinning itself apart. Most cars are out of their powerband anywhere from 600 - 1200 RPMs below the rev limiter.

Powerband is from the peak torque RPM to the peak horsepower RPM, not to the rev limiter. That's Fast and Furious Hollywood crap.

  • @MY50GT when a car is designed with even the slightest inclination towards performance like this st, its better to shift at redline. yes the power begins to drop off alittle before redline, but if you shift too early (before redline while at peak horsepower) the rpm's will drop well below peak power and torque after the shift, and you're stuck with no power untill you get going again. in an economy car, the power will drop off far before the redline because of gas conscious valve timing.

  • @clough103 Your a moron, check the peak power revs, going to far is a waste...

  • @clough103 Your a moron, check the peak power revs, going to far is a waste...

  • fill your washer fluid... nice car btw.

  • IN 5TH GEAR BEFORE 110MPH WACK

  • NOT FAST MY BB4 PRELUDE FASTER

  • Good video

  • Its quite fast!!! for 222bhp

  • Comment removed

  • ahahahahahhahahaha

  • is this stock car? too fast for a stock

  • Yea, you can tell its stock because it got to 100 just over 15 seconds after it started which is about right, road conditions must have been very good though.

  • no shit i mean crysler crossfire goes 210mpfucking hour

  • Yeah! Right! LOL!

  • lmfao let me know what time you got to be back at the mental home

  • No it doesn't. It goes 150mph. On a good day. Down hill. Back wind.

  • my elantra does 130mph but little slower

  • ur hella slow i went 210 on my chrysler crossfire

  • Yeah, 210KMH is hella quick! Did you get an almost-speeding ticket for doing that?

  • lol moron !!! it's on miles what you're watching retard..

  • OMG so fast...I really like this car...a lot...

  • The other mods were a turbo, intercooler, uprated gearbox, suspension and brakes.

  • do you have a pimped up ride?? id love to pimp your mother and sister.

  • this car don`t is a st is a 1.8

  • my 94 fiesta s.i 1.6 16 valve zetec with superchip plus other mods is 6.5 to 60 n 140 mph.

  • Firstly your 1.6 zetec doesn't have to torque requirement to reach 140mph, and your IB5 gearbox doesn't have a long enough final drive ratio. I use a Corsa B with a 2.0l C20xe conversion and an F20 5 speed gearbox as a track car, I can only manage 145mph and ~6 seconds to 60, and it has 190bhp and it's semi stripped. Stop talking crap, your Si only had 90bhp as standard, and a bluefin, induction and exhaust will see you with 100bhp if you're lucky. It'll probably do about 125mph max! Idiot!

  • Too true, i have a stupid friend with a 1.7 puma engine in his 02 plate zetec s, he has full exhaust mods, racing inlet manifold and all that, stripped out the erar seats and still looses to a fiesta st!!! Close accleration but even the 1.7 engine lacks torque at top end and can only manage 130mph (on the clocks) keeping it pinned for at least 2minutes. A fiesta zetec s wiv blufin/breathing mods maxs at 125 because we tried it before the engine conversion! 140 is crap like you said lol

  • The 1.7vct lump is a decent mod for the fiesta, but as you say, still only good for 130mph. Fiesta ST is a great little car, only 1 IG higher than a puma, and that Duratec lump can be tinkered with a little. It's just a great mini hatch, handling, grip, brakes, stiff, decent enough power. I do prefer the Corsa VXR... but it can't beat the ST's price and cost to run! Glad someone else on here has sense! Good Man! The New ST should bring the price down too.. right now the Type-R is still cheaper.

  • In fairness the focus st is a lot better looking than the type r and you get more for your money. Im still unsure what car to go for next tho, ive got a 190bhp clio 172 and either want a focus st, mazda mps or an integra DC5 as they are all around the 12k mark. People always say the fiesta st is rubbish for a 2L but as a complete package they are superb IMO, decent brakes better handling than my clio, decent looks and a smooth power band plus cheap! they dont realise this though lol

  • My brother has a focus ST, they are lovely to drive, my only complaint is the power delivery of the K03 turbo, which comes in early, but it's all over after 5900rpm. It does give it awesome midrange grunt though. ST's are 9k though, Type-rs start at 5k, The DC5 is lovely, a real rareity, The Mazda 3MPS has the same problem as the ST - small turbo, and the it's torque is limited by the ECU in 1st and 2nd, of them all the ST is the winner, dreamscience helps though- 270bhp and more useable torque.

  • The main attraction of the st is the sound and potential of that volvo engine, like you said a remap is 260-270bhp easily and it is a very practical car overall with excellent handling! Its the car i most likely will end up with, id love a DC5 integra tho, just too rare and expensive for what they are. The mazda is plummeting like a stone in value so see how they end up, for now ive just got my little clio which isnt a bad car, just a little bit behind compared with newer hot hatches i think.

  • Lucky you've got 12k to spend my, I envy you for that. Come february I'm hoping to blow £5k.. on what, I'm not sure yet, Type-r, E36 M3 3.0, Dc2 Teg, I just dunno. The clio sport series are lovely little cars. I've heard about the Aux belt problem, where by if the aux belt goes, the cam belt goes too and it's bye bye valves. But that little problem aside lovely hot hatch, how did you get yours to 190bhp? ITG, exhuast, ecu? Was it cheap, because I notice they are now - tempting? Good to drive?

  • Ive just done cam belt and drive belt 1k miles ago so im free of that problem lol Mine has a Milltek exhaust, KTR sport cat KTR n spec remap (limiter goes up to 7800 with this) and a simmota carbon air box. They are very good to drive, easier to drive on the limit than my 106 i had although back end can still step out if your not carefull, low down power is pretty poor due to VVT but you do get good economy id driven sensible. Mine cost £5450 on a 52 plate with 47k miles and that was a year ago

  • Yeah, being able to drive it on the limit is a key factor, my C20xe Corsa has amazing acceleration, but it's so tricky to drive on the limit that it doesn't give you the confidence you needs to push on sometimes. Sounds like quite a car, be a nice little race we could have... you'd hammer me in the corners though, even with my coilovers. I'm not sure what to go for yet, time will tell.

  • To be honest id of thought you would hammer me in the corners, the cup version of the 172 has a lot better handling, had a 106 rallye (gti engine) stuck on my rear bumper last night and round the bends he was all over me but when he tried to overtake he could only get level then started lagging , saddens me because i wrote off my 106 gti and i remember how much fun those little things were :*(

  • I've never driven a 106 gti or paxo VTS, always wanted to, the seem like such fun. Well my car does grip round the bends, janspeed coilovers and Toyo Proxies, but the steering lacks feel, not very confidence inspring, but I have had a vts round bends so... who knows, however there is the chance he was a crap driver. The thing about the 106 is... it's just too small, I'm 6'2", driven a 1.1, could hardly drive the thing, wasn't built for someone my size.

  • Probably not the drivers fault, on standard suspension the 106 is too light on the back and steps out and if your not razor sharp on reflexes you will end up loosing it, looking back the pedals are the main trouble, if you have bigger than a size 9 foot you will struggle just to drive the thing, ive had my friend (6ft 5) drive the clio and he thinks its just big enough(small enough depending how you look at it lol)to live with. I have crap tyres on the back of the clio which explains oversteer?

  • Didn't know that about the 106, well I knew you could get lift off quite easily, but hmm, interesting. I used to have Pilot sports on the back of my track slag... awful things, never got the back out once since I've got the proxies on. When do you think you'll upgrade and get rid of the Clio then?

  • Its just too light on the back and is pretty dangerous if your gunning on the back roads. Was hoping to upgrade in the next 2years at most, spent a fair bit on the clio in terms of brakes and the mods ive done so want to keep it for a while, plus it gives me chance to get a decent next car. Do you drive your corsa when not on the track?

  • Oh, not for a while then - I tell you whatelse is a bargain, if not a bit of an old mans car - Mondeo ST220, my dad has one, just bluefin, awesome 3.0 V6, so cheap now. Sadly I have no company car, so the corsa is my only car, if I need to go out, I use it - hard to drive on the road, no PAS, ABS or anything like that, pretty raw, annoying at times, but still shows a set of heels to most cars if I'm in a racey mood. Beats my Bros Focus ST from a dig in the first 4 gears, but not above 110mph.

  • A fairly quick corsa then lol, I can hold an st at bay till around 90 then they just keep on going as i continue to loose torque at the top end of 3rd gear then into 4th at 95, i had a nova have a go with a 2L red top and that was fast! at least to about 100 then started lagging, his excuse was his cams aernt working very well and the engine keeps overheating :/

  • Yeah the engine bay of the corsa and nova is a problem being so small, I have a constant fan setup. So mine stays at 88', Only ever hit 95' in traffic. Well the standard Redtop engine comes in just over 150bhp, mines had a bit of work, cams, head ported + skimmed, manifold, wrap, groupN chip, induction, exhaust, larger trottle body. Under 2k rpm it's lumpy as hell, big dead spot at 1800 too. May get rid of her next year, frightning fun though. Jealous of your revs tho, my limiter is 7100.

  • -wasn't enough room so continued here - Cams not working - what a load of crap. I hate excuses, if it's a fair cop just admit it, no shame in losing a race... it's only cars for god sake. Dear dear. 95 in 3rd does sound fun, my 3rd tops out at 90, love the torque though, pulling from 40 - 90, awesome. I can imagine you've had a fair top end out of yours with the vvt and top end power, I've had 145 indicated, not sure how out my speedo is, not much though.

  • I dont like it when people make excuses, eg my dads st fiesta beat that lad with a 1.7 fiesta and other mods saying he can beat modified sts! my dad started edging away (just mind) when he was on his own and i was in my dads car! his excuse was your st must be over 150bhp :/ Ive never had mine flat out but had it at about 137-138 still pulling slowly, dont know bout 145 tho lol, the revs are good fun, can get 125 in 4th although theres little torque past 7500 so change earlier, still sounds ace!

  • I know what you mean, what a plonker, is your dad thinking about modding the ST? The St160 mod on Pumaspeed is really good value? 125!! That's quite impresive, my 4th is good for about 118, 5th though will hit over 160 on the rollers, very long, gives great economy on a run. Although I should imagine yours does too. Added you as a friend by the way - got to be the most sensible person I've seen on here!

  • Lol most sensible, i doubt that :) He doesnt like modifying things, he always says should just buy something faster in the first place lol, My 5th gear could go over 160 although there is never going to be enough torque because it struggles a bit to hit the limiter in 4th now, I can get over 50 mpg on a real good run at 40-50mph, at 80 it drops to 40-42mpg and over 90 (vvt kicks in) it drops to about 35. Someone claimed they could hit 157mph in a 150bhp diesel cupra yesterday, made me laugh :D

  • Oh yeah for sure, the lack of torque kills us both at about 140ish. 157mph... yeah off a cliff maybe. That's fair enough about your dad, i can understand non- modders completely, some cars I would never mod. I had a chap claim 122mph out of his 1.2 8v Corsa...50bhp... indeed.

  • lol my 1st car was a 1.5d 106 with 58bhp, on the flat i could only get 95 but on the motorway i managed to get 110 lol, it was slightly downhill but i did have 3 people in the car! You never get your money back either on modded cars, i just like to be a bit better than other similar cars on the road, certainly suprises a few people, most recent being a 2.5 v6 vectra gsi with 190+ bhp, had a fair gap on him by 100 although when i was creeping towards 140 he did manage to stick to my bumper lol

  • its a shame it accelerates so slow... i want one so badly because of the looks but performance wise ill go with the mazdaspeed 3...

  • Gotta love that Volvo engine!

  • im a ford mechanic aswell and that wud be right they are a rocketship

i love gettin them out on the road lol

  • im a ford mechanic and that vid is not speeded up. them st's go like shit off a stick.

its not speeded up or edited used my digtal camera to get the vid and i dont think its quicker than a lambo lmao

  • god how dumb are u!!! in this video you can see the car does 0-60 in about 7 seconds!!! thats a very slow lambo you moran!!!!

    great video man lovely car

  • my stock eclipse rs gets to 60 in 7 seconds automatic......1996

  • class car, that would eat and shite my renalt 5 turbo

  • not if you put an st's motor in it :)

  • Got a bluefin, decat and downpipe on my st and it sounds the tits, tho i think yours looks to be a bit quicker even as standard lol... must have been going downhill with the wind behind u lol.

  • Renault 5 my ass they are sh1te in a huge way!!!

  • a good vid, very similar to my renault 5 turbo running low boost

  • holy fuck!! takes my normal 1.6 focus 18.5 weeks to get to 110 mph!!

  • lol same here, thinking of getting it turbo'd so it won't be too far off that pace
