  • she's natural, tha's the important

  • I love Anna, and respect her work ethic. She was singing concerts while pregnant, and is always at the top of her game. She performed that song with soul and feeling. I really admire her.

  • I have a hard time liking Netrebko. She's not my kind of artist—she brings out the snot in me. I don't see an artist, I see a pinup, at best an actress. However, she brings enjoyment to a lot of people, and perhaps I should just concede that she helps popularize, hence keep alive, an art form that is dear to me. For that, I am grateful.

  • Ok,would people be that crazy about her if she looked like Susan Boyle?

  • I know it's rude, but I have an overpowering urge to say "ewwww!". She singing it like a Russian folk song. Flagstad, Norman, Ludwig - that's the kind of Strauss I love.

  • I think it is quite good and in the spirit of Strauss. And it isn't screaming. Her German needs work though. Will concede to that.

  • not here to bash her but this is really poor vocally....pretty sloppy. there is more to opera than just possessing a pretty oice with high notes. the ending high notes were nice but that was all. still waiting to see what people hear in this singer besides appearance. i'm sorry this is really mediocre.

  • @bcom11 People like her because she can sing. You may not think she is so great, but many people do. She is not my favorite soprano, but I have to say that her instrument is impressive.

  • her tone doesnt have much color to it... its very bland sounding... to my opinionated ears but people love her!;-)

  • Lotte Lehmann that was a singer. Elisabeth Schumann. Imgard Seefried. Christa Ludwig. And don't forget Susanne Danco. But this is not my cup of tea. And if Flemings German sucks than you should listen to her Schubert Cd. Fleming is better in German than this.

  • She needs to learn from Norman. This is pure screaming.

  • Wonderfully done!

  • se nota que le falta... esos gritotes... !!!!!!!ahahahaha creo que es mejor Jessye Norman

  • Amo esta voz

  • Gorgeous woman but, she can't sing in a microphone: puff puff puff...

  • It's really not Fleming.

  • @barokforever What on earth is that supposed to mean? She's not Joe DiMaggio either.....wtf? Do you mean to compare her to Renee Fleming like her rendering of the work is something to rave about? Renee Fleming sucks performing this, I'd take this artist over her anytime. Flemings German sucks and vocally she's trying to impersonate Deborah Voight.

  • Mouth-breather!

  • Absolutely gorgeous!

  • It always soothes me to hear her angelic voice.

  • Amazing performance.

  • Anna is an amazing singer, however she should stay with the Italian or French repertoire and leave the German repertoire to other singers.

  • She should leave Italian and French repertoire too if she stays sloppy.

  • Anna is 7 months preganant here so have some decency and leave her alone, bastards

  • Oh dear, this is so wrongly sung.

  • Wrongly sung, it doesn't move me too.

  • The problem with Netrebko's fans is that they AREN'T blind. They should use their eyes less and their ears more. She's a good singer, but if she looked like me she wouldn't be in the big houses. For a really good rendition of this lied, try Krista Ludwig - my idol - or Kiri te Kanawa.

  • I agree, she's nice to look at but not to listen. That's only my opinion.

  • WOW! These bastards cannot stop bashing Netrebko even when she is singing while 7 months pregnant! Only morons and miserable excuse for human beings can do that! By the way she sings amazingly well here, and losers like you will never succeed in your dirty attacks. I feel sorry for you.

  • trying just a little too hard much??

  • No... no no no... no!

  • I have to say this is one thing that Netrebko does excel in! I love her version of this song, her darker voice really works with this vocal line...

  • By the way, you don't understand a word!!! Her german is so bad!

  • it's not true, she's half austrian, she speaks perfect german, there's an interview on you tube with her speaking german fluent.

  • she became an half austrian citizen two years ago. this doesn't mean that she speaks german fluently! i want to see this video, where she speaks german! she is the most untalented singer that i ever heard! her technique is awful, and by the way, her italian pronunciation is also terrible!

    Ha capito!

  • zafireh, I understand that your hearing is impaired and you cannot appreciate Netrebko's voice of astounding purity and you are blind to her talent. You are either retarded or you cannot deal with envy. She is an amazing soprano and a gorgeous woman! Anna was nominated the best soprano in the world - (March 27th of 2009 story in the Times (UK) titled The 20 Best Classical Divas). So please keep your mediocre criticism to yourself.

  • The fact that Katherine Jenkins and Nicole Cabell - neither of whom can sing better than my cat - are on the list should tell you something. Several very good singers were skipped.

I heard Ms. Netrebko on a Saturday matinee of Lucia and she was an embarrasment. She is certainly attractive and has personality but I find her voice sorely lacking.

FYI, one who makes an insightful criticism is not retarded, a bastard, moron, loser, or poor excuse for a human being, just an informed listener.

  • everything what you've written, "loved by million of people, sings in the best opera houses..." says nothing about her quality. Everything what matters is publicity, money. The opera houses understood that many many stupid people want to see netrbko, so they invite netrebko. It's not about quality.

  • ChaudeB , that is what envious losers always say about Anna's success. Nobody byes it - so shut up, Anna is a great soprano and she deserves her fame. You are a hand full of you tube envious morons but your days are numbered. Anna is getting better and better Ha, Ha, Ha.

  • Why are you so aggressive? are you Erwin??? She isn´t getting better and better, and luckily we ( people who have a brain ) are more than a handful. and the number is increasing.....

  • ChaudeB , yes the numbers are increasing, she just gave a concert in Germany where 14,500 people gave her a standing ovation!

  • du mich auch......

  • Poor audience.

  • @LibbySingsMezzo what do you mean nicole cabell cant sing...she's amazing LOL...i am lmao when you said they cant sing better than your cat though lol

  • @LibbySingsMezzo

Your cat must be a fantastic singer!;))

  • She doesn't speak fluent German. She doesn't have time to study the language or mostly, she's lazy to study it. I saw a video, I think it was a recent clip of Lucia rehearsal. I'm not really sure. She prepared a short phrase in German for the interview. She said she prepared it before she spoke in German.

  • The title of the video is "Anna Netrebko in Wien. "Lucia di Lammermoor""

  • *the video where she spoke a little german*

  • She's certainly nice to look at but terrible to listen to.

  • I totally agree with altodivo!

I've heard an interview with her when she was pregnant, and she said that being pregnant makes breathing much more easier. So you see that she HAS a bad technique.

And if you watch videos from her at the beginning and tou compare them with now, you'll see that she didn't improve! At the beginning, her voice was clear, and if you watch carefully, you can see that she sings how she learned it at the conservatoire. she's working in the videos.

  • Then more and more she became famous and more and more she lost her technique. she became sloppy. I'm sorry, but that's the truth that the (blind) fans have to deal with.

  • Brava!!!

  • This probably would've sound a lot better without a microphone in a concert hall or something... There are some phrasing/breath issues in this... but I think if given the chance she could sing this REALLY fantastically

  • Yes, I think so too.

  • Gawd, I just..I can't anymore. She's just dissapointing.

  • This exposes all of her vocal lethargy: lazy intonation, even lazier diction, and a complete disregard for vowels.

  • A song beginning with "Wenn du es wüßtest, Was träumen heißt von brennenden Küssen..." requires the exuberance of a Netrebko. This is a declaration of love, written by Strauss (words by Heinrich Hart, dedicated to wife Cäcilie) the day before his marriage to diva Pauline de Ahna. Her interpretation is valid and well sung. Naturally, she is no Leontyne Price in this particular song. An incandescent top is a must.

  • Loud breathing. Maybe thats the mike? Gorgeous voice for this, sounds like she hasn't coached it properly with someone who is a really accomlished lied singer. Someone should tell her it isn't Traviara.

  • I think mini Schrott is making breathing a bit difficult for her, lol

  • I think her lousy technique might be what's making breathing difficult for her...

  • here ago again discussing Netrebko's extremely flawed technique... seriously! she's been singing since 1996 and improving every year. do you really believe that if the technique was so lousy she's have vocally survived this long?

  • She has an unimaginable publicity machine behind her, largely responsible for her current fame and success. Prior to her big success and those Traviatas in Salzburg she was singing VERY well. But since then she has become lazy in terms of technique. Her singing prior to 2003 was exceptional. She is lucky to have an extraordinarily beautiful voice. She's just using it rather shakily...

  • I cannot agree with that. Ever since her first recording she's been improving dramatically in terms of stability and unity in the voice. Her upper register has become much more connected with the breathing than those whistled high notes on her first 2 recordings. The coloratura continues sloppy, but it was never brilliant to start with. The rest of the voice has just grown beautifully and also her artistry has improved a lot. The breathing isn't worse than it ever was, that is, not brilliant...

  • and also, every soprano I know says how difficult it is to perform while pregnant because you never know when the baby is going to move and how much more difficult it is to breathe due to your body being heavy.

Honestly, I think most people just try to find flaws where there's bery little to argue about her talent. So let's just be thankfull to have someone alive today with the opulent sound she has.

  • Was she pregnant here?

  • yes. very pregnant.

  • @loredinusa , It here on the 6 month of the pregnancy)

  • although I am not found of her, you make a very good point...

  • I agree with altodivo, and disagree with barleggero.
