  • what is version

  • what is emulator

  • WTF Samus was a girl?

  • I miss the days where video games didn't hold your hand at every fucking turn.. This game dropped you in an alien world and left you. Why can't games by like this again?

  • I would be much obliged if you would do a boss collection from the Prime Trilogy and Other M.

  • @samandmrcheese I would like to do boss videos for them, but I currently have no way to play or record them. Also, other projects are taking up too much of my time (which I might soon be putting a video up for, but it's not Metroid related).

They will probably come some day, but not any time soon.

  • Man when my sister played this game for the first time, she loved it. I remember I used to watch her play and when she beat it she was like, "This Samus guy is the most badass ever!" Then we saw Samus was a girl....and we rejoiced. XD

  • love this game playin it on my Wii :D

  • @belbo501 the planet explode

  • I swear, they've upgraded the graphics so much through all the Metroid games

  • ridley = 8 bit spyro

  • The more MB throbs, the closer she is to death.

  • slow down with the missiles... It takes 5 to kill a metroid.

  • why is it in the metroid series their number one goal is to take ur health down before the final boss

metroid cannons and those sphear things plus the metroids

and in prime never ending fission metroids

  • Ridley and kraid... Grew a bit in super metroid

  • @OHMYGAWDsomething Ridley was killed in this.Same as Kraid. But they cloned them for Super Metroid.Funny thing is,Ridley came back with a completely organic body.Kraid came back with a huge size change.

  • no cheats? when you faced ridley whe you fellin the lava your health never went down?

  • Guys, it says but it may be invaded by the other metroid. Is that a reference to Metroid: Other M?

  • anybody else notice samus' breast reduction these days?

  • it be funny if at 8:32 u just fell

  • So if this game took place after Metroid Prime.. why does samus not have all those nifty gadgets. I think Nintendo needs to stop fucking with the flow of time.

  • Musicin this game reminds me of Attack on Red October NES game music

  • Kraid is so little in here compared to melee

  • only one boss missed... thats allright though due to technicallities.

  • lol in the description it saysfor the nes system even though system is in nes

  • @metalsonic641 I guess I've just earned the Certificate of Redundancy Certificate.

  • @Algren334 hmm..... perhaps

  • @metalsonic641 What?

  • @MrTronbit in the description it says NES system even though NES stands for nintendo entertainment system

  • @metalsonic641 Oh, I only owned an FDS.

  • Kraid is a lizard that throws boomerangs,Ridley is a gargoyle that throws miniature hurricanes,Metroids are floating jellyfish that mistake you for juice, and Mother Brain is a big brain in a glass tank just sitting there doing nothing

  • Who ever the dude with monkey in his name is.... Is well.... A dumbass beyond belief yes lonely troll samus is a girl if you didn't know that obviously the video games under your bridge need to be updated. Anyways I've tried so hard to actually sit down and play this to the point I was frustrated by the fact no matter where I went there was always a dead end that's why I happened upon this video

  • I'm ashamed to say I've never gotten to Tourian on the original Metroid. And seeing the metroids on Zero Mission, I'm afraid of the ones on here...

  • WHAT?! Samus is a girl?!?

  • WHAT??! Samus is a girl? WTF?!

  • I just noticed this, but is it me or does the lava twitch/flash when you hit Mother Brain?

  • @sonikku35 Twitch/flash to lava,sonikku35. |:(

  • 7:46 Final Boss Defeated.

  • 7:49 Self-destruct sequence

  • Man, Kraid grew up a bit didn't he!?!

  • @roryos yes. yes he dod. and he can no longer cheat and use his "stomach spikes" as armor

  • does mother brain actully do anything?

  • personnaly i like to kill all the metroids in tourian. it is your mission. also you made ridley look so much harder then he really is.

  • the screen turns white and you die. thats what happens in most games.

  • 4:23

Samus: "GET DA FUCK OFF ME"

  • boomerangs and blly button spikes

  • i've grown up playing metroid, and seeing this... it's just... i can't find a word for this

  • They made this game so much easier in Metroid Zero Mission

  • @mustachio31 zero mission was badass

  • @mustachio31 Well, I tihn kthe metroids were actually a little easier in this game, since they stayed frozen for so long, but the rinkas are so much more annoying in the original that barely matters. Also, getting 2 metroids latched onto you was the scariest thing ever! and don't even get me started on MB.

  • @mustachio31

    you are right

i finished Metroid Zero mission in 2 days

i finished the clasic metroid in...........forget it, i dont have finished yet ¬¬

  • Comment removed

  • i didnt grow up playing this game, but i played it from the bonus u get with metroid prime (2-3 years ago)XD.. nice work!

  • @belbo501 i think u answered your own question.... read your question and ull find the answer...

  • @belbo501 yeah kinda a rip off considering theres no check points in the game

  • @belbo501 i have its tru you just blow up along with all your hard work

  • @spritesnmore

No. When you die, you respawn at the level's entrance with 30 health. You keep all of the powerups, missiles and and energy tanks you had. You just need to refill your health.

  • I... beat kraid without the pink suit, and i energy tank... but SLOW MOTOIN! :D

  • @belbo501 I'm assuming you just die. They give you so much time, however, that I've never found out EXACTLY what happens to you.

  • @Algren334 The screen turns white, and then you die.

  • @Algren334 You hear an explosion and the screen fades to white then black. Then the password shows up.

  • @Algren334 ...I screwed up once. Seemed pretty cheap.

  • @Algren334 You know, you only need 33 missiles to kill Mother Brain and shatter the case.1 for the case and 32 for MB herself.

  • @emancipated68 Meh, what can I say? I'm a loot whore.

  • hmmmmm....ending screen

    Great!!

    You fulfilled your mission.

It will revive peace in space.

But, it may be invaded by the other Metroid.

Pray for a true peace in space.

Other Metroid......could it be these lines that Other M is based off of? And if it is, what is this other Metroid?

  • @Cydonia921

In the fictional Chozo language, "Metroid" means "Ultimate Warrior".

Maybe this refers to the Metroids on SR388, as adventured in "Metroid II - Return of Samus", or (however unlikely) the X Parasites battled during "Metroid Fusion".

On a side-note, even the games that are not about metroids are flawlessly given the title, because Samus is an Ultimate Warrior herself.

  • @anarch225 NERD

  • Dude says no cheats or hacks like he did well....that was painful to watch

  • I swear there was no real way to beat these bosses. You just had to have enough missles and life and you was good to go.

  • Despite being a Metroid aficionado since Fusion's release back in '02, I've never been able to kill Mother Brain in NES Metroid.

I'm using this video as a strategy guide of sorts, and I also found it quite entertaining.

    Thanks for uploading! :)

  • wow, Ridley looks NOTHING like he usually does. Ridley as we know him was pretty much introduced in Super Metroid.

  • @molemanninethousand Technical limitations. Making Ridley look weird and Kraid look like a midget since 1981.

  • @GIR177 Yes, but this was their FIRST appearance. And the NES WAS most definitely capable of producing Kraid and Ridley similar to how they appear in Super Metroid.

  • @molemanninethousand

I can agree with this. Metroid 2 looks more akin to Super Metroid and I've seen bosses take up the entire screen or more on some NES games, mostly shooters. I've played one where this guy is as big as the screen itself and he jumps around and walks. I think Kraid could be as big as Crocomire at least. Samus being smaller then in SM means it could fit alittle better too.

  • @molemanninethousand

So I guess we could combine from the shooters for the body of Kraid, then use sprites as big as the room for a leg and lesser for an arm. Definatly Kraid could match the SNES version then, or at least the lightly smaller GBA version (since due to the screen, Kraid, Samus and other are smaller for space reasons).

  • thanks

  • wow compare these bosses to super metroid very big improvement from super metroid

  • lol

  • it is physically impossible to beat kraid in Metroid nes with no damage. unless you use NARPAS SWORD

  • The parts that are the hardest and most anoying that I think is after you kill kraid you have to shoot and climb up the blocks and it's hard because the blocks hurt you and since it hurts you they knock you off and then you have to do it again. The other anoying and hard thing is the level torian because of the metroids ,missle doors, and those circle things that go through walls and hurt you.

  • Samus is a girl?!?!? jkjk lol xDD

  • omg ridly so small!

  • These Metroid games...they are like freaking mazes...

  • Yeah, they do tend to be maze-like...this one, and probably Metroid 2, are the worst of them though. The environments all just look the same--it helps to have grown up with these games, as I can typically find my way around with little problem. Give me a game like the classic Legend of Zelda, however, and I would have no idea where to go...

  • Without a FAQ, I am virtually stuck in these Zelda and Metroid games. It is weird though: I have gone pretty far in Super Metroid WITHOUT a FAQ. I guess it was seemlessly set out well so you wouldn't really get lost too quickly...and the fact you had a REASONABLE map, unlike the first game.

  • @Algren334 yea, no map system to rely on, except in dungeons

  • @Algren334 there's a patch for this game that implements a map.

  • @Algren334 that was easy for me zelda was a hard/easy game

  • Kraid and Ridley seem so tiny in the original Metroid compared to Super Metroid and past...

  • It would have slowed down the game otherwise if they were bigger.

  • Aw you didn't put the best ending up there.

  • I always found the Kraid fight really easy if you just roll up into a ball and bomb the shit out of his feet. It helps if you have a lot of health, but I usually don't take too much damage doing this. Sometimes I freeze the stuff he throws at you just to make it easier, but its not really necessary

  • i fought kraid outside of the room, and then(in the next room) in his/hers{please clarify}!!!

  • I always thought it was funny how SSB Melee's intro showed Ridley the size of his original Metroid incarnation, but with a Super Metroid scene. I huess I'm just nitpicking it XD

  • for some reason i would always go to norfair before even going to kraids layer

  • This game took me a hell of a long time

  • yup not an easy game, didn't finish it until 1998.

  • wow the first time you see zero suit samus and for first timers yes samus is a girl duhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol nipples

  • I hate torain its hard

  • I agree with you on that.

  • Metroid is a classic! I'll never forget playing this game for the first time. The gameplay and music are just EXCELLENT!:)

  • inst she blondie?

  • are you color blind

  • Her hair color does look quite a bit darker than in all the other Metroid games, but that's probably because the artists weren't too concerned about what she looked like...yet. But yes, she's supposed to be blonde.

  • awesome game, i wich there were more of those 2D metroid games.. Im not really into those metroid Prime games :(

  • ohhh yeah.

    The classics showed no mercy.

  • great game, all the original games on like SNES and NES are usually harder than the games today. this game was a pain in the ass in the beginning lol

  • so true :p the old games where a ----- like ghosts n goblins XD i could never beat it still i never gave up i still own my old nes its just that i hate people who say it suxs

  • wow kraid got pretty small

  • actually he got pretty big

  • lol did i see nipples?

  • I found it easiest to use bombs against Kraid.

  • HOW DID YOU DO TO GET IN THE LAVA WHEN YOU WERE BATTLEING RIDLEY!!!!

Even I sux in this game, and ive never fallen into the lava....

  • just jump in and warm up... just not too warm

  • in this one Kraid is much smaller but his attacks are harder to dodge

  • I love the older Metroids, although I haven't played any =[

  • if you have a gameboy get metroid 2 you get to fight alpha beta zeta and the queen

  • me too

  • u blow at metroid!

  • You blow at life. SpeedVideoz

  • kraid looks like bowser

  • Lol, Kraid's gotten bigger after this ownage didn't he? :D

  • Yeah so has Ridley

  • wow kraid is a miget

  • If you look at his artwork for the game, he looks like some kind of hairy mole, instead of a dinosaur. The artists based the artwork off of what the characters look like in the game. The characters and their artwork look almost nothing alike.

  • Is Ridley´s name an homage to Ridley Scott who directed Alien, because I read that the design of metroid is based on Alien.

  • yes

  • I suck at metroid

  • how many bosses did game have only those 3

    or more?

nice game anyway .... since it´s the origin of my personal fav. supermetroid ....

  • it had one more, fake kraid, but he was so easy it only took three missiles

  • i used narpas sword cheat or watever on this game and i played for like 2hrs before finding kraid and i jus gave up on ridley =(

  • i used dat cheat too and i beat da game in 32 mins!

  • not particlarly hard if uve beaten the game before..but i havent =(

  • What I loved most about the classic NES games is that they were actually a CHALLENGE!! Like Tourian. I still have yet to pass that level I used to play this game ALL the time when I was little. I recently came back to it again and can't pass Tourian for the life of me lol XD

Games nowadays have actually become easier to beat, for me anyway.

  • 2 things i love this game and samus has some big jugs in that ending picture

i always liked to kill the metroids in Tourian for fun

  • Metroid Fusion is my fave Metroid of all time

  • Kraid was that small? Oh crap!!! He must have had a stash of steroids or something to grow up to be so big lol

  • Donno. I heard that Metroid had limimted space for enemies or stuff like that...besides, in fact, he looks different.

  • I was figured that this tiny Kraid must have been like one of the tiny Kraids from Super Metroid.

I remember when I first played Super Metroid and saw tiny Kraid I thought it was the actual boss just like the first one. Then I ended up running into the two screen tall one.

  • 2:15 don't fall samus!

  • fuck dude kraid was little and then BAM he blew the fuck up.

  • 8:59 80

  • Even though its only 8-bit, the boss-music is the scariest vgmusic-track ever.

  • A comment of your description. this is hardly a "ground breaking game" yes, it did start the plot, but, super metriod, or better yet, metriod fusion, really were the "ground" breakers,

  • Whats so ground breaking about them?

They are good games but not that ground breaking.

This was the closest thing you could get too a horror game at the time with its creepy music and atmosphere.

  • Sorry for the late reply.

I do think this game was groundbreaking for its time. It had a lot of areas to explore, many secrets to find, and many power-ups to gain, which wasn't an all-too common feature with games back then. We've been around that kind of game style for a while, so now we expect it. But back then, most games just consisted of you going in one single direction to reach a finish line, and repeat that process. This game, as well as a few others (i.e. Zelda), helped change that

  • where do you get the screw atack...where in the world...near Kraid or near Ridley or what...?

  • There's a location in Norfair where you can find it. Unfortunately, due to the maze-like layout of Classic Metroid, it would be difficult for me to explain where to find it. It's in a section of Norfair where the walls are green and bubbly, but that's all I can really tell you. You'll have to look around for it, but that should help to narrow down your search.

  • wow, kraid is small...

having played both games, I can safely say that the mother brain is harder in zero mission.

  • no. he/she (it?) was harder on super metriod when it had that second par thing.

  • super metroid was not mentioned here.

  • i always sucked at fighting bosses on this game lol

  • Kraid eats too many donuts in super metroid.

  • Metroid: Virtual Console on Wii

Metroid: Metroid Prime - Metroid Fusion link

Metroid: Metroid zero mission after end

    Metroid: Origonal NES version (best)

    which one would you pick?

  • i liked metriod fusion alot.

  • I think Fusion is the best Metroid in 2D and perharps the best of all time

  • u used the origional metroid on metroid zero mission. on the NES she has a better ending special.

  • used the bonus for zero mission for original metroid right? Game was a little gliched at ridley

  • For some reason I could never get into the original Metroid. Even back when I had an NES I didn't like it much. I loved II and Super Metroid though, plus I adore Zero Mission.

Mind you, seeing 8bit Kraid and Ridley again made me lol.

  • Unlike Zero Mission, you dont have to kill all the metroid's in the rooms, which is better.

  • real kraid in zero mission is 500 ft tall

    then again im paranoid

  • Kraid looked kinda... odd xD, I'm use to Kraidy being like, 50 metres tall.

  • wow.. that was 8bit kraid.. wow..

double wow, that was 8bit ridley.. double wow

  • this is the best code in the game:

    NARPAS SWORD0

    000000 000000

I wont tell you what it does so you'll have to try it yourself but it is the best code in the game.

also if you want to play as zero suit samus try this code:

    000000 000020

    000000 000020

    try them both!

  • There's also:

    Justin Bailey

    ------ ------

That gives you zero suit Samus with all the energy tanks(you still start at 30 energy, though), and 255 missiles. Oh yeah, plus the wave beam.

  • Thx Im gonna try that!

  • NARPAS SWORD0

    000000 000000

    Gives Infinite health+missles+all powerups=unstoppable Samus

    I like 000000 000020 000000 000020

more the Justin Bailey becase Samus starts regularly, like you made a new file. It still lets me have a challenge.

  • i used that narpas sword thing once. i didn't know how to use those missiles with RockNES emulator...

  • Could you find the controls? All I know it that You press - using the Wiimote on VC or Z using GC controller. The only emulator I have is the VBA.

Darn I can't find the ZM ROM for VBA!

  • the graphics lokk kinda odd. is it an emulution on a computer ?? i´ve played this game btw , great game

  • They're bad...the reason why I was always jumping into them was because I was hoping I'd do my special screw attack move to just cut right through them, but I didn't always do it right, so they ended up hurting me.

  • nice job =) hehe.

I got a question. i never played this game XD..

So I wonder, are these rings u always hit/collected.. are they good or bad x.x?

  • those ring thing are health..small ones restore 5 and the big ones restore 10.

  • thanks, but i think it hits him :O

i mean the ones that just fly around.. like obstacles?.. in his way?? =o .. ty for reply ^^

  • My brother posted that comment so he probably thought you were talking about the little purple health things and yes the rings are bad.

  • The ones in the Tourian part? Those are Rinkas, and they're obstacles.
