you need a denman brush ... this will keep the tension in your hair .. you will find it difficult to blow dry ur afro hair straight even with this brush .. but this is the brush i use oon clients with afro hair x

When you blow dried your hair, did you bring the barrel inwards? Try using a flat brush and pull brush downwards in a straight motion.

Maybe your hair is a little longer at the bottom. Or maybe you need to use a bigger round brush. Maybe you can flat iron the tips.
