Bizarre version of Richard Rodgers 1934 classic but the Marcels are excellent transformig this gem into du wop rock, i loved then and still love it now
@zenoist2 Google the song. Look up the copyroght information on a Marcels or Elvis Presley album. Or read the Wiki page that tells the bizarre story of the original song's development in the old Hollywod system.
Where else do you hear ''dinky donk dink" in the lyrics and you don't notice till later because your groovin on it! 1960 but it's in there where it is classified as a 50's song in my jukebox. I mean the one in my head.
@keelbolt5617 Holy Cow! I have to agree with you. I grew up in the time of this music also, and it is the best. I'm 60 years old. And yes, the music now doesn't relate to anyone or anything. What is Justin Beiber (sp) about? Thanks for writing...and let's hope this form of music comes back!!!!!!
On the PBS special, "Doo Wop 50", a few years ago, here are all five original members of The Marcels. Warren? Remember when you, RIck and I would be cruising down Van Nuys Blvd., with the car windows rolled down, belting this one out?
wow this is awsome i dont rember watching this but i think i was there bc thats my dad playing piano and my dad best buddy and my uncle fredy singing blue moon.
Fab just fab! I agree with previous comment they don't sing anymore howerer my 22 year old son points out that "doo wap" ain't in the dictionary either. Sadly he has a point but somehow this is right and he will have to "get over it and move on" whateva!!
Freddie! My wife and I were there that night at the Benedum. ~ then you appeared for Blue Moon. I've been a musician for 35 years +, gigging with Curt Betters (Son of Harold) and many, many more! As a matter of fact, my friend Tom Brenic played with the Marcels for several years. Your Bassline, voice and presence are the REAL DEAL. You have surely secured your spot in music history! Thanks so much for your wonderful appearance!
Although it isn't evident from the lineup in this vid, an important feature of the original Marcels was that they were racially mixed---not too common for do-wop groups from that era.

I grew up in the time of this music, and it was the BEST and always will be.
The NOISE that is the NOW is at best STUPID !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's my rating of this noise they call music now days.
It does represent the sign of the times in more ways than one.
Take a good look at this Country and you have it.
