  • It's a very touchy subject for local councils and members of parliment to speak up about the subject matter. Plaid Cymru have raised the issue on many occasions, but are then accused of being anti English or discriminating against non Welsh speakers.

  • Brilliant stuff newquayfti ! google petitiononline 70000 and please sign the petition. FACT: For 40 years, Cornwall has been one of the fastest growing places in the UK; FACT: In spite of high levels of development, Cornwalls housing problems have got worse; FACT: The Government cannot build its way out of Cornwalls housing crisis; FACT: West Cornwall is already the most densely populated rural area in the so called Governments "South West zone". Don't Swamp Cornwall !!

  • What about young Cornish people (like myself) who have been forced to leave Cornwall because of the astronomical price of housing and thus in turn seeing Cornwall develop into one giant retirement home with all the problems that brings....

  • The very same situation you mention has been happening in West Wales for as long as I can remember. An example would be New Quay in Ceredigion where 80% of property are second homes.

  • So are people for or against new homes being built? I am afraid this all smacks of "nimby-ism" to me... I may be wrong and I certainly don't want to see Cornwall ruined but the fact is that people need houses they can afford.
