  • Man I need to improv that singing

  • I really hope you are wrong too. I sent emails to every H&K dealer in my area asking if they are discontinued or not, also an email to H&K as well. I hope i can get my hands on one soon!

  • where did you find out the amp is discontinued? the H&K website still has it listed on their "bass amplification" page and says nothing about it being discontinued. i really hope it isn't or i hope i will be able to find one when i have the cash. i have a H&K dealer near my house, hopefully they can order me one

  • Music stores around Atlanta, and my own personal research. They just no longer make them, to my understanding. There is a handful of them out in the world floating around. I know only of the one on Ebay, and another one in Atlanta, @ Atlanta Bass Gallery which are up for sale. I could, and hope, that I am wrong about them being discontinued, but I am just passing on what I think/know to be.

Could you ask the H&K dealer if they are discontinued? Because I really want to be wrong on this.

  • Sweet! This is definitely going to be the next amp i buy. Did you buy yours brand new for $1207 or was it used? I checked out that one on ebay, but i would rather buy it in person.

I really cannot find that much information about this amp online except on H&K's website and various reviews written about it. That is why I am curious to know if that is the price you paid for it brand new.

  • I honestly do not know, and never knew, whether or not it was used or new. It was in like-new condition. No physical wear or damage, and still had the front panel film on it.

I completely understand wanting to buy it in person. I know that the asking price on the market for this amp new is $1500. Used is roughly $1000.

I will say this. I first came across this amp four and a half years ago. I took my time, one for money, two for years of comparison.

  • The model has been discontinued by Hughes & Kettner. Used it should be less than $1300; new $1500 I attribute most of the price to the fact that is it discontinued and high-end.

I compared it to, Ampeg, GK (no comparison, or fair competition there), Mesa, Acoustic, Genz-Benz, Markbass, PJB, Fender, Behringer, Marshall, Trace-Elliot, SWR, and lastly, Eden. And it had the most versatile EQ in a amp head. Second to the H&K, would be Markbass TA503 or TA501.

  • Hey, cool song dude. I am intrigued to hear it once you have the band recording.

i actually came across your page from a "talk bass" forum about the QT 600. I am a huge fan of Hughes and Kettner. My buddy has a guitar combo from them and it sounds amazing.

I am a bass player myself and I am looking to change rigs. I read countless good reviews about the head, but I am curious to know your personal experience. Also, if you do not mind, can you tell me how much you paid for it? Thank you!

  • Personal experience = this is the best amp I have ever played.

The four band EQ and the four addition tone buttons really allow you to dial in any tone you want. Weight is remarkable compared to the Ampeg SVT's.

If you check out my other videos, I use this amp for bass, guitar, and vocals. It is just hands down an amazing amp.

I paid $1207 for it from a local store. There is one on Ebay going for $1350.
