Remake this game with the same battle system, ATB, Materia and Limit breaks. Just 3D it up to HD with voice acting... We loyal fans will always remember the original. But I would love to play a life-like version of this game... Just imagine the world map of Final Fantasy 7 on the PS3. Imagine in the marsh coming in contact eith the Midgar Serpent flying over your head like a dragon from Skyrim. Aeriths death in the City of the Ancients. Final showdown with Sephiroth. Hell yeah id buy a PS3.

They shouldn't remake it. The stylised visuals and the text dialogue are a huge part of its charm. What puts FF VII in a different league is its moody atmosphere, like a silent movie. All these games were designed around the technology of the time, and are best suited to it. There's stuff in this game that wouldn't work with more realistic graphics and speech. It's full of dark, surreal humour which that would ruin. They should analyse why FF7 is the best, then use that to make something new.
If they remake it they should just update the graphics and maybe add some new stuff. However with saying that if they do remake FFVII I hope they keep the game the same, a true remake keeps things how they originally were but improves it.
Seriously there are enough FF fans out there who want to see this remake. Why don't we just unite and buy that franchise, hell the whole Square Enix and make them make the game for us?

seriously though i really dont buy that the graphics would be too difficult to make, i mean look at how huge oblivion, skyrim and fallout 3 are. i realise they rely on repetitive graphics a lot of the time but i mean its not as if final fantasy 7's graphics didnt repeat themselves, the world map looks mostly the same all over, and most of the small villages they could get away with using generic houses and objects much like in oblivion. if all else fails make it on more than one disk again.

I sincerely hope in my heart that they're remaking this now secretly in their magical lab of animation and have been hiding this from us ever since Crisis Core.
Then they will announce it's completion and immediate release at the end of 2011 so we have around a year before 2012 which might be our untimely death, if it ever happens.

Final Fantasy VII Was actually the first game I had ever owned. Back when my family was really poor I wasn't expecting anything for Christmas. They took their most famous game on PlayStation and showed what the graphics look like now compared to them. Remake with Zack and Cloud? Either way they will piss some group off and with them releasing the game on the PSN, don't expect a remake in the near future.

FF13's battle system is better that FF7's (My opinion. I repeat...MY OPINION). I played both of them and all I did in FF7 was pressing the same button until the battle finished!! I didn't have to think not like FF13 where you must know when to chang paradgim shift quickly!! I know it lacked lots of stuff, but FF13-2 will have more than I wanted.
@PrinceOF9Imagination I tend to agree with xRazorfistx about how the battle depends on luck, however I know alot of people that like that system, I think the next game should have it like Dissidia where you can choose the battle system, I imangine some day a Final Fantasy game with multiple battle systems for players to pick from.

If you liked KH's system then Square should have somthing for you. I liked the old school FF battle systems therefore there should be something for me too.
I completely agree with @miniminx1234 they should remake the game and include some new content in it..Otherwise it would be just a better looking final fantasy VII(what is already a great thing)..But they shouldn't do anything that could destroy the original sense of the game, improving the graphics, musics and so and adding some new summons, secrets bosses and side quests would be great AND enough...

I personally think story trumps all other factors in most games, gameplay, controls and graphics only help to make it more immersive. If a game lacks story, then I likely won't play it. That being said, it wouldn't kill for final fantasy to be remade if it would help benefit the story.
@SeasonsOfBlue True, for RPGs and adventure games a story is a must, but in other games if the game is fun enough, the story is secondary(Halo, CoD, Mario, et cetera). But, I think you are referring to plot, since every game has a story of some sort.

Incredible CGI and 3D graphics yes. Then we go back and try to play FF7 in 64bit graphics... the main story of the Final Fantasy VII compilation. This trailer albeit a few years old still makes the hair stand on the back of my neck. I'm not sure how I feel about the remake, the lack of spoken dialogue in the original kind of made it for me, similar to how the MC doesn't speak much in Halo to allow the player to use their imagination, the voice of Cait Sith etc. kinda ruined Advent Children for me. But it is possibly the greatest game ever made and a kick into the 21st century wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing in my opinion.

Then they will announce it's completion and immediate release at the end of 2011 so we have around a year before 2012 which might be our untimely death, if it ever happens.

Final Fantasy VII Was actually the first game I had ever owned. Back when my family was really poor I wasn't expecting anything for Christmas. It was a fun game to play.
Sure you can add a few things in to make it flow better with the prequels and sequels alike, but for the love of god y, looking back at the original now, you have to consider it is not at perfection when it could be.
As long as cloud still looks capable and you keep him confident and not very selfish or whiny, then quite frankly, you can have all of my money.
Hell, maybe you can make Aeris/Aerith's death sad for me.

FF13's battle system is better that FF7's (My opinion. I repeat...MY OPINION). I played both of them and all I did in FF7 was pressing the same button until the battle finished!! I didn't have to think not like FF13 where you must know when to chang paradgim shift quickly!! I know it lacked lots of stuff, but FF13-2 will have more than I wanted.

I completely agree with @miniminx1234 they should remake the game and include some new content in it..Otherwise it would be just a better looking final fantasy VII(what is already a great thing)..But they shouldn't do anything that could destroy the original sense of the game, improving the graphics, musics and so and adding some new summons, secrets bosses and side quests would be great AND enough...

They should add extra summons and make the map bigger with more things to do and secrets to discover but at the same time keeping the originality and structure storyline of the game with it including ALL the scenes..... i really do hope they make a remake because i believe 7 was the best out of all the fantasys.... and it would see BIG TIME... it would be the best project Square could do in the memory and appreciation for such a loving a memorable game... music was epic 2... do a remake!!

I personally think story trumps all other factors in most games, gameplay, controls and graphics only help to make it more immersive. If a game lacks story, then I likely won't play it. That being said, it wouldn't kill for final fantasy to be remade if it would help benefit the story.

This trailer albeit a few years old still makes the hair stand on the back of my neck. I'm not sure how I feel about the remake, the lack of spoken dialogue in the original kind of made it for me, similar to how the MC doesn't speak much in Halo to allow the player to use their imagination, the voice of Cait Sith etc. kinda ruined Advent Children for me. But it is possibly the greatest game ever made and a kick into the 21st century wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing in my opinion.
