I think the missing skulls are metaphoric. The boy removes the hair of the dolls so that they're no longer gender-spacific. The boy made them in the likeness of his relationship, and thus, while they are shown flying through the air, we watch the father tear apart both his son's representation of his love, as well as, the real relationship. I think the doll scene is actually happening some months after the soccer game. In the opening, then, the dolls are a reminder to him of what he once had.

My life is about interpretation of scene, I was raised on opera music and I have actually no degree but I spent 2 years after High School skipping around from colleges to music institutues. I picked a little of everything up along the way, which is a fantastic way to be educated in the arts, yet not let the education interrupt the dream.
