  • Hate tourists, gtfo.

  • @1john1992 I'm happy to have the tourists. I think we have many/better restaurants than many places because there is the demand for good food because of them. Just my opinion.

  • I live in Victoria X) love it so many tourists too . lol

  • I ave heard this place is also called abkhazi garden is it true

  • @losdruid There is a tourist attraction here by that name but no, the city itself is not known by that name.

  • @angiecat33 I was wondering because the person after who the garden was called was originally Georgian and I know their decendants. Abkhaz was Last name of Georgian lorderly here in Caucasus

  • @losdruid here is the bit of info when I did a google search, that I found on the history of it: The Abkhazi Garden is an exquisite heritage home and garden located in Victoria, British Columbia, a city known for its wonderful gardens. Prince and Princess Abkhazi began creating their garden in 1946.

  • @angiecat33 I know :) their modern last name now is Abkhazishvili.... and they got there after Bolshevik goverment overthrew Georgian Goverment in Caucasus and all of its goverment members were decleared as Soviet Public Enemies

  • @angiecat33 cool, I was asking because Person after who the garden was named is originally from Georgia and I know his decendants. Abkhaz was lastname of Lorderly in Georgia and my friend has last name Abkhazishvili (son of Abkhaz) who is decendant of that man. how man this is really cool now

  • Just beautiful!

  • Ah, thank you!! :-D

  • Thank you for the beautiful video, Victoria is my birth place!

  • Jeesh there sure are a lot of hostile commentators on this video. Thanks for sharing. I made a similar one that I'll respond with :)

    Cheers.

  • Yes I noticed the negative comments too. Odd but I guess everyone sees something different. Cheers to you! :-D

  • Nice video, beautiful pictures, but Normalman is definately right about the problems. Its not negative, just honest observation. Have a nice day: )

  • Perhaps Normalman and yourself have a different experience in Victoria than mine. I have lived in provinces with higher taxes, colder weather, and more negative attitudes. I am more than happy to live here. Although, the price of homes is way out of affordable range, which I really think is just so wrong. Every place does have probs for sure, agreed there. Thanks for your comments :-D

  • I have lived in Victoria and found that if you belong to one of the following, than you will do just fine in Victoria.

1)If your a witch, or in some type of occult like the O.T.O.

2)If your a free Mason, and or born under the bloodline of a free Mason.

3)Being gay helps,( bending over for that underpaid tourist job won't be so hard.)

    4)If your rich.

5)If your part of the chinese mafia, like Alan Lowe is.

6)If your a swinger, parties will be easy to find.

All said is meant in good humor: )

  • Well I definitely agree with #4!! The other ones I have no comment on I guess, I don't belong to any of those ones. Connections of any kind NEVER hurt though. All I wish is that I could afford a house... which these days is near impossible. Way way way expensive. Stop the insanity!

  • I agree on housing, here in Montreal, its starting to increase aswell. Thankfully quebec and parts of eastern Canada still have good pricing for land. Not to mention prefab homes are great if you can find a good builder. It is cheaper than buying a used property, check it out.

Your right it doesn't hurt to have connections, but I prefer to enjoy Victoria as a stranger rather than a local, I know alot about Victoria's secret garden.Still I agree its a nice city, and I still have friends there.

  • I'm originally from the east coast so I know, quite a difference in housing prices and land for sure. If only the great Victoria weather could work its way across to the other end of the country huh?! Montreal is very nice too! But I don't speak the francais so .. ah well. :-D

  • Believe it or not, there are many people who do not speak french here in Montreal, it helps for employment to know both languages, of course. It is very bilingual , yet when you step out of Montreal, it becomes pridefully "quebecer".

Has a very old European feel to the countryside settings, and there are Monks that still make cheese and wine to buy near small mountainous areas(great for picnics.) Your right about the weather, Spring, summer and early autumn are great, yet winter is a drag.

  • I have always heard from other people how beautiful Montreal is, though I have only ever been passing through on the way to another destination so I will take your word for it. I love that European vibe for sure!!

  • love victoria i live in goldstream victoria is like no where love it i saw this video first time and i spend my whole day in fishermans today it is cool being there have fun every one

  • Hello World ! I am addicted to sell...

  • Is that something you can smoke? ;-) heh just kiddin

  • Victoria's a nice place, and some of the areas are nice and clean.

But a good chunk of the people here are just awful

The only real reason I like it here is because It's near the ocean (with a mild climate) and has somewhat clean air.

  • A good chunk of people here are REALLY nice too. Walk away from the awful and look for the nice-ees.

  • It's hard XD

  • Why do people that live in Victoria lie so much? They claim everything is great, and yet they are barely surviving. The city is so broke that they can't even afford a sewage treatment plant.. Even the whales are choaking on the human waste being dumpted into the Juan De Fuca straight. I guess the lies is why the city is called "The City of denial". Victoria is a nice city to visit, but there is a lot of darkness when looking beyond the flowers.

  • Victoria is a good place if you want to retire here, but for younger people such as myself (18 years old) there isn't much going on around here. I'd like to come back to retire here though if things don't change too dramatically.

  • Yeah, I guess it might depend on the kind of activity you are into too. If you want to travel around, the ferry can be a pain in the bum. The cost of living here is quite high too - which is way insane if you're 18 and just starting out, it would be very hard, I agree with that.

  • Looks like heaven

  • Nice video. Never been to Victoria, but it looks beautiful.

  • What a BeaUtiful place! I love the water and anything to do with it! Thanks for sharing this lovely trip!

  • Yes, such a beautiful place here, I agree!!

  • Nice pictures, good song, too. I went to Victoria for a vacation back in November and turned my 700+ pictures/video clips into a movie. Thanks for putting this up, I remember alot of what was outside the ferry ride.

  • i so want to live there, it's beautiful and i choke up remembering how lovely it was. white sand beaches and epic mountains...(not much geography where i live) hope i can find a vid of views from the cliff in the park, it was awesome. ty for posting.

  • This so makes me look forward to the warmer weather!!

  • i live in vic the city of god best weed from all around

  • I lived in victoria when I was a baby.

Im 13 now and moved to the Comox Valley Down Island.. or is it up haha

  • Comox is nice too!

  • Angiecat33:

    You are up awfully late.

  • Haha! Mrgyn I am a night hawk!!

  • I've been living here since 2005...and I'm so desperate to move back home to Ontario. But due to the economic situation I don't know if I'm able to afford the move let alone the cr@ppy job that I have here. :(

  • PS.Forgot to mention all your fab. photos!! OMGawsh they were great!

  • Hey... thanks for the nice comments. I get negative ones often but not sure why. OHHH you should visit here, I really think you would love it. Best months to come is April-June I think, when the cherry blossoms are all over town!! they are the BEST. These images are of downtown mostly and there's so much more to see. I love it!!

  • Beautiful, and thank you so much for sharing, it is my dream to visit here!!! It WILL happen for me, I KNOW!!! It's our next destination, whether I die or not, we'll be here, and you brought it closer to me than I'd ever think possible. Just beautiful! Thank you! so much.

  • Wow I can't believe the number of rude, negative comments on your video. I contemplated living on one of those houseboats in West Bay a few years ago but it didn't pan out. Thanks for sharing.

  • I have experienced mostly positive during the four years we've lived here, thankfully. I guess some others have a different experience. Every city has some negatives of course. I really think it's great here for the most part, though some things are more expensive, like housing (WAY off the chart, beyond reasonable, in my opinion). Tks for the comments!

  • boring city

  • No!

    Its AH MAZING.

  • You're most likely a boring person

  • You're probably a boring person douchebag

  • I live here!

  • Victoira is a beautifull place to visit and live. This video really only shows the tourist side of Vic any ways, Its a very niceley done video though. And to whoever wrote that shit about the "homeless drug problem" I say, get over yourself, the middle class are just as horendous in victoria.

  • beutiful lace to grow weed bout it

  • Any young person who stays on Vancouver Island after graduating from school is sacraficing his or her life to maybe staying close to their family. Alberta or Ontario has so much more to offer young people, espeically Alberta.

  • Absolutely! This place you come here, work here and then die!! Service here is terrible also.

  • Hello travelled7 - Thank you for a truthful comment. Most people on the island deny all the negative conditions there, so I'm surprised to read your message, "Finally someone tells the truth". Thank you.

  • Wanted to leave the first year I was here, but stayed on for another 2 years - that's it...had enough of the twilight zone, need some normality moving east in January....who cares about the cold, after all this is Canada!

  • need some normality what the fuck are you talking about asshole

  • what's your problem bitch

  • You still think that now bitch

  • you're probably a loser who failed in life

  • Hey Must - I couldn't be much of a loser if I spent two years of my retirement in Victoria. It is an expensive place to live, right?

  • Here! here!

  • Although I have a few good memories of living in Victoria, the large number of bottle collecting street people, and the car theft, is really something I don't miss. It is a nice city by sight, but the lack of prosperity there is depressing. The politicans there cater to the Conrad Black type of citizens, but they don't care for the middle class people. I'm not sorry I left.

  • There are definitely some issues that are being ignored around here, for sure. Outside of the homeless and drug user issue, I am quite happy with my experiences here. I have lived in other cities in Canada which, in comparison, make Victoria look like a flourishing paradise, my friend!

  • Hello Angiecqt -We can all find ways to exist in our environments, but some people want to more than simply exist. To a tourist Victoria is a wonderful place. When you actually live there, you get to see beyond the flowers, and start to realize that Victoria has some very serious problems which other Canadian cities do not have. Having "meaningful" employment is vitally important to every family, and Victoria has very little of that. Young people should consider escaping from the island.

  • My here! here! was for you, sorry placed it in the wrong area. Having meaningful employment here means you see favoritism in the workplace, however, that exists everywhere. But here, once people get in they think they don't have to work!

  • But have you lived in 5 other provinces as I have? The weather is not everything. It's the quality of life this place offers.

  • The homeless and the drug problem are not just an issue, it overshadows among other things wrong here. Of course it's very beautiful, but people and how one is treated at work make a place wonderful... that ain't here!!

  • Looks all nice and pretty on the video but Victoria is like living in the shark tank.

No available rental housing and its more money than most can afford but they do without to pay the rent in a roach hotel. The Business community are a bunch of cry babies and commercial real estate for rent or lease are horribly over priced and sit empty for literally YEARS and don't budge on the price.

homeless everywhere you get asked for change 100 times a day and thats only to start.

  • Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

  • Everyone I guess entitled to an opinion. I LOVE IT HERE, it's so beautiful. It is costly in some aspects (food cost and housing) but I still love it. The vibe here is just great.

  • Victoria looks like a really charming place! I was just researching it and found this. Thanks for the quality video!

  • I agree, what part of Victoria are you in? How long ahve you lived here? How old are you?

  • Not at all, to add to givemeafinename, you get a shack for 1/2 mil!

  • Hello Givemeafinname - Take the time to view other locations in Canada, as you obviously do not like Victoria. Although times are tough across Canada, there are places which offer much more prosperity, depending on what you do for a living I guess. In Ontario a simply job like driving a truck pays over $40,000 a year, and the cost of homes is nowhere near Victoria prices. If you are young, I suggest you get out of Victoria, or some day you will wake up old and broke.

  • Nice!

    What is this song called?

  • Here! here! I'm not young, but this place is from the twilight zone and I'm moving back to the East where people are trusting and friendly and professional in their manner!

  • Hey.. I wish you good luck back east. I'm from there originally. Brrr. Cold.

  • I'm forced to agree with angiecat33. I live in Victoria and have for 3/4's of my life, Everything here is based around tourism and there are no REAL jobs that leave you feeling fullfilled and happy. It's all based on income with skyrocketing rent feels, the cost of living....people living here can't even afford it now let alone the tourists coming here....... Alot of places here talk about going green and no waste but I still see lots of things like raw sewage and power consuption here.

  • you dont o how much i miss victoria i keep on running the song i wanna go home by micheal bublea in my head but i have to get over i moved 4 years ago ....... my family's got over from moving from saskatawan..i think :(

  • Sask isn't too far away, maybe someday soon you can visit or move back again later on.

  • Hi Angiecat, I do not blame anyone for working for cash while living in Victoria, as the wages offered by employers there are so very low, or less than a forty hour work week. Good luck to anyone who works for cash in Victoria. Also, good luck with living with dumping 100% of all human waste directly into the Juan De Fuca straight. Those poor whales, no wonder they are diminishing in numbers. God help the people of BC, and their log littered beaches.

Honestly, good luck to you angiecat33.

  • I lived in Victoria for two years 2005-2006, and could not believe how many people were forced to work for cash. There was no meaningful employment anywhere, and most employers paid the minumum wage, with less than a forty hour work week. The cold water log littered beach there was also a joke. The fact the city dumps 100% of all raw sewage into the ocean was pathedic. I was happy to get back to Ontario "and prosperity".

  • You know it's funny how different your experience is from mine. I guess it depends on what kind of things you were doing in your life vs someone else, right?

Your comment "how many people were forced to work for cash"... I'm curious - were you wanting to work for something else, like a bartering system? Most people these days want to work for cash. Most of us (not all of us of course) need to pay for things with cash, therefore, cash really helps dude!!!!!!!

  • Super movie and terrific song, who is the singer?

    Cheers

  • Thanks for the kind words!

The song that I used here is called "100 Years" by a band named "Five for Fighting".

  • The Boat houses beside them has one of the best Fish and Chips restaurant ever.

There's this seal that usually comes by to get some easy meal from the locals.

  • Barbs Place Fish and Chips. It's so nice in the summer.

  • newly wed and nearly dead

  • Yep!

  • Well done!

Not bad for a first, eh?

  • thanks :-) Tried to comment on a video of yours last night and it would not let me. I will try again later and see if it works.

  • Hey, great video. I love Victoria and that was a very nice tribute!

  • Hey thanks it was my first video so next time I will find it easier. I plan to make another one soon I think, with some new scenery.

  • thistles - Congrats to you and your new wife, that's sweet :-) No, haven't been to the famous Barbs F&C yet but I will check it out when the weather gets warmer. Also try Haultain Fish & Chips, they are yummy too. Can't eat very often tho you know, greasy :-)

  • I live here but only after taking a 2 week holiday here and falling in love and comming back to marry my now wife! Did you go to Barb's Fish N Chips, its changed hands but still has great F&C's!

  • Hey I´m from germany,I´ve never been to canada but when I see this video I thing to myself this is the best place to live!!

  • Thanks, that's a wonderful comment. I wanted to show my family how pretty and good for the mind (calming) this place is!

  • This place is good to retire only, for work it's another story. Too much favoritism.... this place exists on slave labour from easterners!

  • You are right my German frind! I've travelled alot. the world is beatyful and the are many wonderful places. But Vitcotia, and Bc is the best place on earth. Come visit soon!

  • I live in Victoria and it is wonderful to see visitors enjoying the great walkways, Inner Harbour and in general the fabulous coastal ambiance. Come Again Soon!

  • I've been living in Victoria for 2 yrs now. I made this little vid mostly for our family to see since they live on the east coast, but thought it would be nice to share with others who haven't seen the area.

  • Yes but living there gets boring after 7 years. I kinda miss it though

  • Yeah no kidding this is my 7 year here as well and i can't stand another day of crappy weather, drug/homeless problems and arrogant attitudes, thank god I'm moving

  • Are you here in Vic? Normally we don't get a lot of rain except for winter months. If you don't like the negative you should try another area of town. outside of downtown is different, the negative I rarely see. I have heard so much about negativity and downtown! Try westshore or sooke, you'll like it better.

  • Yeah, the place seems incredibly stuck in the quaint provincial past. Not exactly the real world.

  • Agree with you 100%

  • It may be cold, but if you check the daily temperatures there isn't very much different from here, and the winters are getting warmer and colder here. The people are so much warmer on the east coast.

  • You're probably a boring person, don't need dipshits like you in Victoria

  • I used to live there, now I live in Courtenay BC

Its just like 2 hours away =P

I go there for shopping now haha

  • courtney sucks go victoria

  • What the fuck?

I said I lived there before

I was born there and lived there till I was 5.

God your a fucking retard :S

  • u said u used to live in victoria but then u moved to courtney and courtney sucks donkeydong

  • Yes, nice place to visit but not to live.

  • Hey.. we get the point you're trying to make. You keep coming here and saying the same stuff. I get it! You don't like it here. Perhaps you should move??

  • any reason dipshit

  • Yeah you probably can't get a good job to afford it here anyways bitch

  • lol im from here too

  • OMG! I have to go back to Victoria!! :( I miss it soooooo much!! and I saw my old house on there... lol the board walk is so fun... so many things you can do there... like piss ppl off... and pop out of nowhere and scare ppl.... hhhha....

  • Sorry I made you homesick :-) I love it here!

  • this made me homesick!

  • Best place on earth :)

  • Most boring place on Earth inhabited by retired old folks. Good air though, I miss the air quality. Unfathomably boring. They killed Crystal Gardens. Built BC Experience which will be broken down for a Casino. It may be boring but it was cozy too, fuck casinos. I liked and miss the boring cozy city.
