  • It's very cool

  • I installed a optical drive on my MacBook Air. It took a while, but I did it.

  • Hi there, this maybe a stupid question but can you import a cd into itunes with this and make a cd from itunes. thanks

  • Where did you buy it?

  • shame it cant be in the laptop itself

  • can this also work as a hard disk space?

  • No Apple stickers with it???? WHAT IS THIS MADNESS????

  • lol wtf. Super Drive ? Seriously ? Dude you just spent 80 dollars on a CD/DVD drive. You can get those for 15 bucks. Derp, derp.

  • Ok so i have a mac mini and i bought REASON 6 (its a program to make music) can this SuperDrive install my program (REASON 6)?

    Thanks,

  • it is now compatible with i mac?

  • @afostinis No, only Macs that do not have optical drives, like the Mac mini and MacBook Air.

  • @DetroitBORG wtf!?! when i plug mine in it doesn't open up playing anything :( please help I've done everything i can

  • @DetroitBORG ill make a video response if you want me to

  • nothing to do with the super drive but DANG nice watch where can iget one....i subscribed .btw.

  • @xXAPPLEGUYXx Ha, thanks! It's a Kenneth Cole watch, part of their New York series.

  • 8x. hahaha

  • can it work on windows

  • @mczacify No sorry

  • how do you get all of these products!

  • Your accent's awesome!

  • These would be so much better if they were wireless. Thumbs up if anyone else agrees

  • @barneybongo1212 hahaha i guess you failed on your thumbs up!

  • @conjopi101 Then you have a MacBook Pro.

  • @crystaldragonwomen when u keep da disc u get a disc icon on da desktop double click it u will get an eject disk option

  • hi, I see you made this in 2010 - very clear thanks and question - my macbook air is a 2011 and has not eject button that I can see - in fact so far - when I plug it in and place disk in - NOthing happens - including figuring out how to eject the disk - :(

  • @crystaldragonwoman When you connect the optical disc, the drive will appear on your desktop or in Finder, from here you can eject the discs.

  • Hey, I just got a macbook air, and my main concern is being able to import CDs to iTunes. I watched your video on using the remote disc feature, but I'm wondering which would be better - should I purchase a superdrive, or will using a remote disc work just as well for importing CDs to iTunes?

  • @CaraBara1018 From my experience, the performance differences (if any) are not an issue.

  • Nice video thanks

  • my macbook air doesn't have an eject button

  • @loopba Correct, you can double click on the drive to see your eject option.

  • Yea u can burn cds from what I heard

  • @Jhoodemcee Yep, CDs and DVDs.

  • Oh me too me too :)

  • Ooh, I want this.

  • Can you burn CDs on this??? Someone please write back! :)

  • @nikahatt Yes, you can burn CDs and DVDs.

  • Now, does this work with the $600 model of the mac Mini WITHOUT lion Server or is it exclusive to that form only...?

  • can i game pc games whit the superdrive?

  • really its a DVD player

  • @HarrysAmazingTunes It's a Player and Burner.

  • ok the eject button is not available in 2011 model

  • @sary6776 You either right click>eject on what you want to eject or drag it down to the trash.

  • @sary6776 you probably eject from the keyboard

  • Love my MBA and this drive is great so portable and sleek

  • I'm a teenager in need of a laptop like device I CAN afford either of these. Which one do you think would be a better choice? MacBook air or or iPad 2?

  • @Selena13Taylor ipad

  • @Selena13Taylor MAC AIR, they do more things !

  • @Selena13Taylor the macbook air ia substantially more expensive than the ipad however you do also get a lot more power , ram , storage space, a hardware keyboard, bigger screen and a better machine over all

however if you can afford the macbook air i sugest you look into the macbook pro as it is around the same price and is a much more powerful machine in every way unless weight and size is important to you

  • mkaywhat would you prefer the 11 inch 128gb macbook air or macbook pro 13 inch 2.4ghz

  • the eject button is also a different way of pressing Command+e when you want to eject a mounted disk

  • So this can install windows with Bootcamp with a windows DVD right ?

  • it seems very loud

  • ok nice

  • I hope this isnt a stupid question, but is it capable of ripping DVD's onto your computer? and if so is it relatively fast at doing so?

  • my 2011 MacBook Air doesn't have an eject button, i wonder why apple removed it?

  • This may be off-topic, but I heard you say that you had a 11" macbook, would you say 11" is too small, I'm migrating from Windows, but really cant afford anything over £1000. It's really for web browsing and word processing, and I'll be using Logic and Photoshop too.

  • @Hugak001 go with the macbook pro base modle mate its £999 or £939 with student discount and much better than the air and has a bigger screen and HDD but the air is faster at loading apps and turning on/off lol

  • I bought the same SuperDrive when I bought my MBA 13.3" (late 2010). It's super fast, quiet and cold running. Works perfect every time...

    Sly

  • Can it run bootcamp ?

  • will it work if its not a mac just a mini laptop

  • @MrXenonEditing Push and hold the Eject button on the keyboard.

  • Oh, that is loud

  • its so expensive....FUCK YOU ALUMINUM

  • Very nice video! Better than the ones I tried watching! I should of watched this video first...haha. Btw, may I ask, did you edit this video using your MacBook Air?

  • @nikahatt Thanks, I edited this on an iMac...but you certainly can do it on a MacBook Air.

  • they should make a blue ray one with a thunderbolt cable coming out of it

  • Dude, you should do this for a living... You're so well spoken, detailed, and professional... Consider your current job a stepping stone and the last kick in the ass from your current boss your severance pay :-) Best of Luck pencil pusher!

  • I am new to mac, but learned alot of your video - one thing though: Is there no slot for CDs and DVDs in the air? Or what is the point of this SuperDrive? please answer :)

  • nice watch!:)

  • Will it work on a MAcbook and a MAcbook Pro? Thank you.

  • This is compatible only with the Macbook Air? Isn't it just a USB external drive that you can use with any Mac or PC?

  • is the caprica series ur fav movie or what

  • @ilovecomputers98 I never finished watching it, so I guess not ;).

  • @DetroitBORG haha. will this superdrive work with mac mini?

  • Now I want the new MacBook Air!!!!!!!

  • Im wondering this super drive is only for music and movies and whatnot so If i was to download a game. I would just use the disk slot?

  • can the macbook air superdrive burn CDs or DVDs??

  • @jimmmyyy096 yep

  • @jimmmyyy096 Yes!

  • @jimmmyyy096 both

  • hiii do u hav giveaway's sir.????

  • Do u need MacBook Air SuperDrive for the Mac Book Air? ro can u use it without it?

  • @shadsuki no you dont need it

  • Okay, that really helped me alot. I thought for a second that you couldn't watch videos on this or something, So does this mean that you can burn CD's and transport albums to the laptop

  • @waterbender6 indeed

  • does this work with the new mac mini?

  • I am going to put an sad in my iMac in place of my superdrive and need an external drive so thanks and great video.

  • apple products are so sexy and lovely so I want to have all of them!

the new macbook air, Iphone 4 , Ipad II, Ipod nano and etc.

  • can it take games

  • Back to the future !!!

  • New MBA's out today! hahahahaha if you bought one recently..

  • Oh damn, I was looking into getting this to replace the unreliable drive in my MBP.

Looks like i have to get an external drive from another vendor.

  • @viajmo he said it only works on MacBook Air.

  • Verry good.... Thanks for the video.. :D

  • it looks like a mac mini but thinner

  • Fuck you for buying a mac they suck compared to a similar pc.

  • so is that how you load i work and stuff

  • Cool, back to the future

  • nothing says american more then made in china

  • I'm curious if you'd know if this could work with other Macs besides the Macbook Air.

  • @viajmo He says "It is not compatible with any other Mac" right in this video. :P

  • ANY USB drive by a different manufacturer would have been cheaper.

  • hey i have a question i am stuck between to choice the new Imac or the macbook air help me please

  • @minhalrizvi1999 iMac !!! much better in every way!! except portability lol

  • @minhalrizvi1999 I would wait on the MacBook Air right now, an update is imminent, probably next month. They are very different machines, but my iMac is my favorite so if I had to pick, it would be that one.

  • @DetroitBORG I guess you're wrong:)

  • don't you think this should be the size of the mac mini?

  • what if they pressed the wrong button instead of the eject button they may press the power butto hahahaha :D

  • OMG NO APPLE STICKERS!

  • How come the Macbook Air doesn't have an F13 like all other Macs?

  • @LordsOfMinecraft No modern Macs have an F13 key. The key in the place of the F13 key is usually an eject button, but instead a power button on the MacBook Air.

  • your vids are awesome

  • @RaRitsujun Thanks :)

  • @RaRitsujun i AGREE

  • back to the future at the end wooo!

  • Yes But I live in Greece ! Here we do not have an Apple store

  • @mrpelu21 why ? Give me a reason

  • I am thinking of buying an imac but i dont know what programmes to put: iWork or microsoft office?

  • @theoharis27 I have the same dilemna so I have both. I like Excel much better than numbers so I would recommend Office. However, if you just need a word processor, then you can choose either. Hopefully the Mac App store will eventually allow you to buy these apps individually.

  • @theoharis27 i pirated both!

  • how do you take the disk out?

  • @theoharis27 i think you press the edject button on the computer.

  • i always use my teeth to open up the plastic. Its more satisfying!

  • omg caprica is shit

  • This would be useful for people with MacBook Pros & iMacs with dual HDDs / SSDs. Shame it isn't compatible.

  • You should give me a iPad please..

  • 2:00 that's what she said

  • Comment removed

  • do games work on that

  • @lan437 Yes!

  • what program do you edit your movies in?

  • @MikeyZeov iMovie '11

  • will this work with an imac?

  • @KWTproductions Nope, it will only work with the MBA or Mac mini Server.

  • Could you connect this to your iMac and have two SuperDrives. Also if need to burn something could you put the original CD/DVD in it and just drag and drop over to the blank Disk to burn it

  • @101ipodguy Nope, this will only work with the MBA or Mac mini Server.

  • You could buy a iPod shuffle for that amount

  • will the macbook air work with any external disc drive thanks

  • @TheSLSAMG There are many Mac compatible alternatives, but not all drives work.

  • perlay cool

  • so it only works with mac air would not work with macbook pro please reply

  • @josecruz612 Correct, or a Mac mini Server.

  • Hi can u burn DVDs with it on the MacBook air for example if I want to burn a movie to the dvd edited with iMovie.

  • @powronnie Yes!

  • Nice hands baby

  • Hi! What's the box dimensions and weight?

  • @1981henken Product Dimensions: 8.7 x 8.3 x 2.8 inches ; 11.4 ounces

  • Thanks, and i love Star Trek ')

  • You cannot afford macbook? Check out offer at macbook7 . com Take your chance NOW

    I like it

  • What type of table are you using in this video? I am looking for a new desk, one similar to the apple store tables. This looks like the same type of texture.

  • @cjgonzales1900 It's actually a pine chest, it's not really a table.

  • @cjgonzales1900

The table in apple store is solid maple and the table in apple store in convert garden ( if u live in uk ) is solid english oak. u can look for oak effect or maple effect table for a cheaper option...

  • adressitoo9 i would get either because thery're both the same price but, i recommend the air.

  • Still undecided about the Air or the MacBook..

  • @Andressitoo9 Write down what you need and weigh how much you value the MBA form over the MacBooks features. It's never an easy choice, but I say if you want the MBA then get the MBA.

  • @myles5053 probably, because it is just a drive.

  • may be a dumb question but will this work on pc?

  • @myles5053 No, only certain Macs can use it.

  • great video... really professional!!!

  • Whats a Mac Mini? lol Im a new Man fan

  • @Drumguy008 Believe it or not, this is one of my most frequent questions and it goes to show you that Apple needs to do a better job promoting the mini. Essentially, it's a desktop computer that you plug your Monitor, Keyboard, and Mouse into...just like an old PC tower most peoplen are familiar with.

  • Hey DetroitBORG, I have to say, thanks for the review. Also, I am intrigued by the watch you are wearing. Do you know the manufacturer/model by any chance? Thanks!

  • @exite Thanks! It's a Kenneth Cole watch from his New York Series, model KC3773.

  • @DetroitBORG Thanks for a swift reply! much appreciated!

  • Nice vid Mike. This is the way to go if you have a MBA but I find it odd that it only works with the MBA not that you would need it with a Macbook unless its drive failed.

  • @jst4tim Not sure why they are resricting the Macs than can use it, the limitation is completely artificial.

  • Funny seeing the drive is so much thicker than the macbook. I saw a video where the macbook air didn't look much thicker than the iphone 4, wonder if you would do an all around thickenss video, like showing how the first gen ipod is way thicker than the macbook air, that would be a fun video.

  • can u play burned dvd's on it?

  • @Rex944 Yes, you can play and make them on this drive.

  • i always hit the LIKE button even before i start watching your videos. why you ask? because i know that your videos are super awesome as always.

  • biy a macbook pro instead nearly the same price and you get a much better computer!

  • @19f97 how is it better? no flash based hard drive, weighs twice as much, it depends on what you think is better, some of us think portability is better, we have all the heavy hardware on out home pc's. if it is your only pc, then yes, you should get a regular macbook or macbook pro.

  • @19f97 For some the MacBook Pro is better, for others the MBA is better, they serve different markets depending on their needs. For me, ultra portability and standard SSD is the most important feature.

  • @19f97 This may be true for many, but not all consumers.
