  • I remember this when I was 3. Such relaxing theme music.

    Fucking new shows.

  • I hadnt heard this in 15 years! I had no idea that George Carlin was the voice.

  • Im feeling sleepy...

  • I have a videotape of this season (Stacy Cleans Up), in which after the program is done, there's still one more segment -- Schemer Presents.

  • i like the old thomas insteed the new

  • This page is dedicated to my favorite Beatle, Ringo Starr reminds me of Thirteen/ WNET New York 1993-1999 logo, Bloodenator.

  • this is the one that I watched bc i remember george carlin bieng the conductor, not ringo starr

  • i agree to the max.

  • That was the 844 in the backround (well she was called 8444 at that time)

  • I am 20 yrs old and i got some of the tapes of STS for Xmas of '08. Every time I hear the intro theme or see the intro sequence, I have tears in my eyes...

  • I became a fan of George Carlin because of this show...lol

  • so...did...i....T.T

    *sniffles*

    R.I.P. George Carlin...u were a good conductor...

  • I loved this show back when I was little.

  • Wow, this is nostalgia at its finest.

  • They should show reruns of this show.

  • my little brother was watching a new Thomas recently and it lost all it's charm by getting rid of the funny little puppet people and static faces for cgi

  • this has got to be the best theme song for a kids show so far!!!!!! GREAT JOB!

  • I loved this show when I was little, I'm 17 now... I found an old VHS tape that has a full eppisode of this from YTV & I was overcome with joy I never even knew I had the tape :) & now Thomas is different, my little nephews like to watch it, but it's not even close to being the same :(

  • yeah, your totally rite. i mean, thomas was great for a while, even after shining time.then HIT entertainment took over and completely ruined it! i heard they are completely digitally animating the show next season!! grrrrr!!

  • @darthgallion i agree w/ u

  • Man im 16 years old and still love the show shinning tine station. I loved thomas the tank engine and of course Mr. Conductor.

  • Thank u! I'm 24, and I say that shows today are CRAP! and something else I noticed was that today they've brought back and begun to market Thomas The Tank Engine's character and the other trains by making toys, coloring books, etc. with Thomas' name, but I've NEVER seen any references given to the show from which these characters were created! That's really unfair to the creators! It seems that they've swept Shining Time Station Under the rug. That ain't right! It should be brought back to tv!!!

  • I'm 20 and my younger days were revolved around Shiny Time Station, LOVED it. Then I seen the new Thomas the Tank Engine and was amazed how they totally scraped almost everything that was good about it. No Shiny Time, no Mr. Conductor, or even the Juke Box Band. There was just a bland Thomas with a boring narrator. I guess kids won't get to experience quality shows like we had when we were little, which is kind of a shame...

  • you forgot to add in the most funniest man of all no schemer

  • @MizzSeastrunk totally agree!

  • YES!!!

  • Man they don't make it like this anymore. :(

This generation is TOO materialistic and sad thing is television is aiding in that sick effort. What the heck happened to shows that actually had some sort of Aesop "moral of the story" ending. Most (not all) entertainment today is trash in my opinion.

  • This was my favorite TV show as a child. with the island of sodor and thomas the tank engine, i will always remember this show well

  • Another difference is that Brian O'Connor is credited last, instead of Ari Magder.

  • Does that sign say population 5,006 or 8,006?

  • 5006

  • someone post an mp3 of this song

  • I miss Shining Time!! :(

  • I MISS IT TOO!!!

  • This song brings me back. I remember watching these, especially this season. There was nothing like watching these (as these had been taped) on a summer day with no worries. Makes me miss my childhood.

  • This show was absolutely timeless.

  • agreed

  • just hearing this theme makes me miss my childhood... ah good times...

  • ah, same here

  • wasn't shining time recently used in the magic railroad movie if so would the old dude in the movie be one of the young guys in the seires and on that point stacy's let herself go since the seires she looks well old in the movie

  • If you mean 2000 was recent, heh, but yes, they used Shining Time in Thomas and the Magic Railroad.

  • I remember watching it in theaters when I was a kid. I now own the DVD. Got it for $10.

  • @Bloodenator I'd just wish there was a music video to Atomic Kitten's Version of the Locomotion.

  • @Bloodenator but they didnt used Up 844 in the movie thou

  • The locomotive shown in this shows credits is Union Pacific FEF-3 Class 4-8-4 Northern type #844. When this was filmed, the 844 had been numbered 8444 to make room for EMD GP30 UP #844 on the UP's Roster. The 844 is stull running today and is based at the Union Pacific Steam Shop in Cheyenne, WY. She is the only steam locomotive in North America to have never been retired.

  • i think if i ever see that train, im gonna cry from the memories...

  • me too

  • I remember this show, and I miss it. Now PBS has "lame" shows such as Teletubbies and Boohbah

  • ha ha So true

  • Agreed. Back in the 90's, PBS had awesome shows for kids. Lamb Chop, This, Carmen Sandiego, Barney (It's debatable, but yes he's a classic too) and many others.

  • i hear you when it comes to Barney...UGH

  • teletubbies was in the 90s. they still play the reruns?

  • Love this show, the theme song has followed with me all these years. RIP Mr. Carlin.

  • Carlin was an awesome conductor and he will be missed...

  • I used to love this show I think this show went off the air in 1998 this show started airing on the year I was 1989
