there is a plaque on the beach road for those who where lost in the tsunami. i was there in october 8 months after it all happened and couldnt wait to go back, so i went for the boxing day rememberance. very sad. the people in phuket are so friendly and welcoming considering what happenend and i think this shows the mentality of the thai people.

I just got back from Patong Beach and you can barely tell this ever happened. There is some construction still going on, but not unlike any other resort town. I never saw a plaque or memorial or anything to pay respect to the massive loss of lives. As I learned from locals, information is better on the internet all around the world than at the scene of the tragedy. I think that is pretty sad.
