why spend 300 dollars on this, when in reality, you could go it without it. My graphics card supports 3 monitors, and has 3 ports, and it alone wasnt 300..
I can speak for you, but for me it's ALWAYS about options. This product isn't for somebody who has a desktop with a multi-monitor graphics card. It's for those who can't install a graphics card, or those with a laptop, or with any number of other devices where the "single monitor signal" feature of the Matrox multi-monitor products come in handy.
Bottom line, it may not be for you, but I can guarantee that there's somebody who needs the option.
Thank you guys so much yu have just answered all the questions that i have been looking for all over the web. You guys are awesome keep doing what you guys do so well!!!
so lets say i had an insane gaming computer with a dual monitor card built in, and i had two of these boxes. in retrospect could i run 6 different monitors at once?
My graphics cards can have 2 monitors, i just bought dualhead2go, And I am trying to get 3 monitors working, 1 monitor on g-card 2 other on dualhead. 2 of the monitors are just cloning eachother what do i do please.
I am assuming that the two monitors that are cloning each other are the ones connected to the DualHead2Go -- If that's the case, then you need to increase the resolution on the video port that is feeding the DualHead2Go.
It should be within the settings for that particular port. (i.e. in Windows, it's under "Settings" in "Display Properties") There is a slider to increasing or descreasing the resolution of a particular "monitor" (in this case, the monitor is actually the DualHead2Go -- Your computer sees it as a single monitor.)
What i wanna know... what if i bought 3 of the triple..... would that give me 7...... one from the computer into the first TH2G (triple head 2 go), then in that 1st triple head..... 2 of the outputs used for 2 more triple heads??? makeing 3 + 3 + 1(left over on the first th2g)... or even... thinking about it... 9 monitors.... using 4 th2g's is this possible????
Technically this would be possible since the adapters are transparent to the computer. However, you would be limited by the resolution of the first adapter in the chain. --- In other words, you will always be limited to 3840 x 1024 --- you can slice this resolution into smaller pieces using additional adapters, but I'm not sure if that's what you really want to do.
Sounds honest.... My mind wanders though.... now im thinking SLi, 4 dvi's on your PC.... 4 Triple head 2 Go's one out of each dvi.... surely the computer see's 4 monitors at 3840x1024.... when in actual fact its 12 monitors.... the prob with that would be makeing games spred across all 12 monitors.... ??? possible but difficult....
Luke, I do indeed apologize for offending your uberGeek sensibilities. If you are using a NVIDIA solution, then SLI is most definitely Scalable Link Interface ---
However, I'm a bit of an old-school geek and I have this habit of calling it by its original name "Scan Line Interleave" (developed by 3DFX) which was the grandaddy of the NVIDIA SLI and ATI Crossfire systems.
The current gen is MUCH better, but I still prefer the old name because it works for both brandings.
lol fair enough, i am an up to date person, so go by watever it is at present, i accept ur reasoning tho! say both from the future or something at least! laters
i like it for gaming. dual head is still better for editing as far as my software is concerned. i can only take advantage of 2 screens. but for gaming, i like what i've seen so far

without changing the 2nd graphics card port?

Dude... you are INSANE!!! (I mean that in the nice way!) :)

At that price, who in their right mind would buy the analog versions? Especially since the triple head has both analog and digital.

I definitely would have messed up that sentence with all the resolutions, inches and monitors X-D *bow in awe*
Are you going to do a review of the art.lebedev Optimus Maximus? (or have you already done one and I missed it?)

PBHK, I would love to review the Optimux Maximus, but they are so backordered for review that I wouldn't hold out hope. Peace, Fr. Robert

I was just about to write a reply to Luke when I saw gadgettts reply.
Scan Line Interleave is actually a description for what both NVIDIA does with their SLI (Scalable Link Interface) and ATI does with crossfire.
So.... both of you are huge geeks!!! :) (I mean that in a good way!)

Lol, my graphics card would just explode trying to run something of that resolution on a game. I might get one when I get a new computer though.
