When Pavlik first came up, I noticed he is a fighter very much like Tito Trinidad. All power, very little boxing/defensive skills. Their strategy depends on having their opponents let themselves get hit. To be honest though, I seriously thought Pavlik would win... instead, we got Hopkins-Trinidad all over again 7 years later. Wow.

I like Pavlik, I think he a great guy but you must remember he a great puncher at middleweight. When he fought taylor at a heavier weight the result turned out different.
Roy jones was like a tyson in the light heavyweight division, jones was knocking out top fighter with just 1 punch, Foreman felt that jones wil ko everyone in the heavyweight divisioon in the same fashion.

Joe Calzaghe easily won his fight over Bernard Hopkins! The first round was Calzaghe's only bad round. Otherwise he had Hopkins running around the ring the rest of the fight.

Hopkins hasn't stopped anyone since De La Hoya; he is going to be too cautious to try and go after a big guy like Pavlik, just as he was too cautious to go after Tarver, who he probably could have stopped if he wanted to. Hopkins strategy is going to be to win rounds, conserve energy and get the decision..same as always.
I respectfully disagree, I think Hopkins will go after Pavlik, Hopkins is a legend already and has nothing left to prove. He is still fighting because he loves it, he still has it, and the money. He has nothing to lose a win over an undefeated KO artist in the prime of his career will be a fitting cap to a briliant career. I think hopkins will play his game for the first 8,9 rounds then go for a KO. Even if he loses it will not be by KO. This is no disrespect to Pavlic he is a great fighter.

And Benn was great KO artist but still he took longer than a round when he started fighting average oponents. Collins i dont rate at all now he really is over rated in the history books. benn when his early career started was knocking out most opponents inside a round, but obviously when he stepped up in class found that harder to do, he also wanted to learn more and hone his skills after the defeat to watson

Lacy is slower than Xmas. One of the only very good named fighters Joe has faced in his prime was Kessler. Joe beat him. Hop was old, Eubank was old, Lacy is slow and how big of a name is Lacy? Tayor will beat Lacy easy. Eubank and Hop was great fighters but old when Joe faced them. Joe will never fight Kelly. Enzo will not allow it. Kelly will stop Hop, something Joe couldn't do. Kelly win win in 6 by tko. Hopkins has also been a great champion but he is 43 years old now.
Yeah, Pavlik does seem a little worried, but I don't think he ever saw himself fighting Hopkins because he's so young. Also, he might be worried about Hopkins' dirty tactics and making Pavlik look bad. But I think Pavlik has a lot of legnth and will be able to keep Hopkins at reach. Pavlik should be able to hurt Hopkins if he lands. If not, he will win unanamously!
If Kelly can be physical with Hopkins when the old man clinches with him then he can wear down Hopkins and win the fight. Kelly's strong point in this fight is his youth, and he should make Hopkins feel it every second of every round. If he can do that he just may stop the old man.

He out boxed Taylor the second time around. That was the point -- if the knockout comes, which it didn't, then so be it. In Taylor, he actually out boxed a better boxer already though. The point is...Kelly can either pressure OR out box effectively. Sure, he's not as good as he can be, but he can do both.

When Pavlik first came up, I noticed he is a fighter very much like Tito Trinidad. All power, very little boxing/defensive skills. Their strategy depends on having their opponents let themselves get hit. To be honest though, I seriously thought Pavlik would win... instead, we got Hopkins-Trinidad all over again 7 years later. CALZAGHE does not hit harder than pavlik but he hits accurate and throws more punches from ackward angles ! if calzaghe v pavlik happens then you would have to say pavlik will be outboxed like jeff lacy was !

Lacy is slower than Xmas. One of the only very good named fighters Joe has faced in his prime was Kessler. Joe beat him. Hop was old, Eubank was old, Lacy is slow and how big of a name is Lacy? Tayor will beat Lacy easy. Eubank and Hop was great fighters but old when Joe faced them. Joe will never fight Kelly. Enzo will not allow it. Kelly will stop Hop, something Joe couldn't do. Kelly win win in 6 by tko. Hopkins has also been a great champion but he is 43 years old now.

Yeah, Pavlik does seem a little worried, but I don't think he ever saw himself fighting Hopkins because he's so young. Also, he might be worried about Hopkins' dirty tactics and making Pavlik look bad. But I think Pavlik has a lot of legnth and will be able to keep Hopkins at reach. Pavlik should be able to hurt Hopkins if he lands. If not, he will win unanamously!

If Kelly can be physical with Hopkins when the old man clinches with him then he can wear down Hopkins and win the fight. Kelly's strong point in this fight is his youth, and he should make Hopkins feel it every second of every round. If he can do that he just may stop the old man.

you saw him give calzaghe a great fight ? in the one i saw hopkins was constantly holding , using his head , faking low blows to grab breathers and being really negative.
that was about as far away from a great fight as you can get really. i really cant understand why kelly is taking this fight its a lose lose situation , and hopkins has the perfect style to beat kelly. he kod de la hoya and trinadad and wasted tarver , what is kelly going to do that thay couldnt , you need more than power .

if your going to use pressure to defeat hopkins , why couldnt you do it decisively to taylor in the 2nd fight , taylor stands and trades and comes to fight hopkins wont , he makes everyone look bad . you knew you could hurt taylor but in the 2nd fight he was slightly more elusive which rendered your power useless , i think hopkins will be a big wake up call for kelly.

He out boxed Taylor the second time around. That was the point -- if the knockout comes, which it didn't, then so be it. In Taylor, he actually out boxed a better boxer already though. The point is...Kelly can either pressure OR out box effectively. Sure, he's not as good as he can be, but he can do both.

For sure,Kelly outpointed Taylor especially with his Jab in the rematch and was near to koed him again in the last rounds...
Personnaly,
I think Bernard will land few good counter punches in the first rounds and just one by round after,Pavlik still coming forward and landing his jab,beginning to land this muderer right hand,the unactive B Hop will slow down again in the last rounds and have really big troubles in these last rounds...

dont want to shatter your illusions kelly but there are a lot more differences between you and calzaghe apart from your power , joe has hand speed , 21 title defences , unified his division ,draws 50`000 fans at home , has great footwork , a brilliant boxing brain, and is top 2 pfp . I THINK YOUR STARRTING TO BELIEVE YOUR OWN HYPE. your one dimensional and have no real footwork or head movement . when taylor boxed instead of brawling you couldnt ko him even thougt you knew you had the power.

no other opponent ? there is a video on you tube of an interview at pavlik v taylor post fight with mikkel kessler , two time and current world s-middle champ who said he was over there trying to get a fight with pavlik or taylor , so what happened to that . hopkins is so negative and at light heavy , kessler comes to fight , has great footwork and is young and still hungry , there are another 5-6 fighters at middle and s-middle that i would rather see him fight so why hopkins ?
