If you use Excel 2007, this is really easy. In Coditional Formatting (after selecting the range of cells) you choose a "Number Filter" - on the drop-down menu, there is a selection for Above Average (also below average) this is a really great new feature in Excel 2007!
What if you want to see how many cells are selected by conditional formatting, for example to find out how many values are above the mean or median? Thanks.
