  • in the video, it seems like he applied the mat over 2 decent size holes and didn't cut through it. is that right?

  • This installation method is incorrect; certainly "inadequate" at best. I came to this video, having fully installed dynamat in my first of 2 vehicles, hoping there's an easier way for the second. But, problems I see here:

Like mentioned before, if you install it this way, you are blocking off access to the window mechanisms. THIS IS BAD. There is room, with the window rolled up, to attach dynamat to the metal body of the door (the inside surface of the exterior metal). You have to work (cont'd)

  • the dynamat through holes in your door frame (such as the speaker hole). To do so, carefully roll up a sheet (say 12" x 12"), work it through the speaker hole, and use your hands to guide it to the uncovered portion of your door's metal body.

Like mentioned in this video, the heating mechanism (hair dryer, whatever) is a must. If you don't use it, the installation can get sloppy fast.

BUT, going against this video, dynamat xtreme is the way to go. It's a much better product than the

  • original. You can buy bulk packs off ebay for much cheaper

It's probably going to take about 20 hours to do a thorough install, but it is worth every minute of a free weekend. I installed dynamat xtreme on my coupe on the doors, under the seats, on the side walls of the car, and around all sides of the trunk. On a scale of 1-10, the sound quality and reduction and road noise is probably 9/10, and that's in a honda prelude - not exactly what one would consider to be a quiet vehicle

  • nice shirt

  • w praktyce to inaczej wygląda

  • do you need to dynamat your entire car? or can i just do my trunk where my subs are

  • @AwwesomePossumm The More the better. Primarily the areas around the speakers/subs are the way to go. If you can dynamat your entire vehicle; It's gonna be amazing. What I've done with one of my cars is the front door panels, the trunk lid and the trunk floor (around the spare tire hole ofcourse as well).

  • In Soviet Russia, Dynamat installs you!

  • just bought 50 square feet for 14$. Woo clearance!

  • @lukasduchaine what website?

  • @mndigo I work at a retailer that carries it, just bought it from the store.

  • they covered the holes so that you cant replace the window regulater or other things.

  • we have a 74 bug too

    feature=mhum

  • What would you do about dash vibrations?

  • @djtj1216 Get a higher quality vehicle or a smoother subwoofer.

  • @djtj1216 Putting a "wedge" between the dash and metal will add pressure and sometimes eliminates rattle. Trying just holding down the dash with your hand as a test while your system is playing and see if that helps.

  • Secondskin is better, and cheaper...FTW.

  • LMAO that looks like a pain in the ass

  • what about if the window mechanism need replace?

  • @Tetzas Then as they say in France: You're Fucked.

  • @ATCRyderX i agree with that :)

  • @Tetzas from most of the cars I've seen, they don't put it where they do in the video, they put it on inside of the door, aka behind the door frame, instead of on the door frame. also, dynamat can be peeled off, so if your window motor goes, no biggy, just make sure YOU take it off, not the shop.

  • @Tetzas don't bother putting dynacrap on the doors. Most of the noise will come from the floor.

  • not even usen extreme

  • dynomat is a big rip off monney grab a 17 dollars a square foot

  • @mitteey Forgetting cost - Its wonderful shit.

  • @mitteey where ever you bought it was a rip off, i bought 2 sheets of 10x10 inch for 9.99$

  • @1993TMAXX in canada

  • @mitteey im in canada...

  • this stuff is a bitch and a half to install, esp if u wanna do your full car...

  • Can you use this inside your sub box?

  • Theres no reason for that

  • @dnwndls

    Yes and you should

Trust me alot of people who has mega hitting subs have alot of rattling and distortion, throw this joker down on it and MAJORITY of that noise is gone

  • @dnwndls yes they make a kit for sub boxes but i wouldnt waste your money

  • @dnwndls LOL

  • I really need to put this in my escort. As you would know, they have a lot of road noise. Mainly coming through the doors.

  • Peel & Seal!!!!! same exact thing as dynamat, just a whole lot cheaper. find it at lowe's in the roofing section.

  • Dynomat = Overpriced and overhyped...

    Secondskin FTW!!!

  • changing that broken window or door lock is gonna be a PITA after this stuff is applied.

  • if i only have 2 subwoofers in the trunk, do i need to put dynamat anywhere else other than the trunk? im thinking about putting 1 p2 door speaker in each door. any suggestions

  • Depends on the subs/the amount of vibration & distortion you're geting. The more Dynamat the better.

  • does dynamat also quiet the outside noise from entering the cabin or no?

  • yeah it does

  • @linkedscorpion, It does to a degree.. For such a thing, it is best to use vibration mats with other things on top of it like mass loaded vinyl, and/or closed cell foam.

  • Comment removed

  • @nnpp99ww thats true...I think people should only put it where its rattling the most such as the trunk...and shit, in my case the gas door too lmao....

  • If anyone's looking for a cheap alternative to dynamat just go to a hardware store and buy some peel and seal. Its used for roofing but I just installed some on my doors and most of the vibration is gone.

  • @DoubleAG1, I used peel and seal years ago. That Asphalt based crap melts, stinks, etc. I dont care what anybody else says. Its a very bad move.. It WILL come off eventually, and WILL destroy your cars interior.

  • @xazax632 Lol well that sucks. Oh well there's nothing I can do about it now right since that stuff doesn't come of easily? Or maybe I could use a heat gun to melt it off myself. I guess you get what you pay for.

  • is r-blox any good? its way cheaper.

  • Really couldn't tell ya. I was under the impression DynaMat was really the only name in the game for good stuff. Reading some of the comments on here, apparently there are cheaper alternatives but I've never seen anyone do a comparison for this type of stuff.

  • @8320884 I just installed some off brand dynamat from meijer in my truck about 15 minutes ago and it works amazing. plus it's only like 1/8 of the price of dynamat. although they only sell it with 2 10 x10 inch pieces.

  • @pepsivanilla93 where can i get it what is the site???

  • @8320884 sorry I havent found it on the internet. i bought it at meijer. hopefully youve found some yourself by now

  • Got a couple question, 1, where can you buy this and how much does it cost for enought to do the 2 doors. 2-Is there any cheaper alternatives to dynamat?

  • I buy mine off eBay. Search ofr DynaMat on there. Better prices than the stereo shops offer. Is there a cheaper alternative? Probably. But remember just like with Car Audio Electronics of any sort: You get what you pay for and Expensive 9 out of 10 times means superior. I know WalMart has some "similar" product but far as I've seem its they only sell it in small cuts and even though its the same type of product; its completely differant (if that makes any sense).

  • 4 videos down on the right side is a cheaper alternative(second skin). the cheapest would be EDEAD. Lastly Stinger. Your going to be doing this yourself so do your own research or take it to a audio shop and tell them to hook u up !

  • go on e-bay and look up R-Blox its about 89.99 and u get 100 square feet and compared to dynomat u save a lot and works just like it hope this helps in anyway

  • DynOmat? :p Lol.

  • Thats there so people who aren't sure how to spell it can still find this video. Adurr.

  • i just ordered 25 square feet of this stuff. Its comming monday :)

  • That wasnt cheap!

  • lol, 310 bucks. I have a saturn which has dent resistant side panels so EVERYTHING rattles.

  • DAMN and DAMN! =)

  • Just out of curiousity, y would you install the dynamat and re install the stock speaker? i am aware it is an instructional video, but if u were installing to reduce noise/increase sound then wouldnt there be a much better alternative ti the STOCK speaker to create a more pleasing experience?

  • Thats true and pretty damn funny now that I think about it. =)

  • they make it look like it takes 5 minutes takes so much longer... blah hate working with this crap

  • now lets see a dynamat xtreme removal tutorial!!!! >:( gah i hate that crap.

  • Removal!? hah! You're on your own, man! =)

  • @SLiguykyle use a chisle

  • @1993TMAXX LOL!!!!!!! not even close. i tried dry-ice, i tried chisles, i tried everything. the only thing i found that works the best if pull off as much as you can, and use the sticky part as a dabber and stick it to itself and pull it off. it's a pain in the ass.... i managed to get about 8 sheets off before i gave up and sold the car. the guy who bought it is still going at it. LOL

  • @SLiguykyle Not even close?? wow, must not be strong.. i took all mine off in the rear where my speakers are with a chisle and hammer.

  • Dynamat has asphalt in it. Thats why you have to use a heat gun. If you don't do it right it will peel and fall off. Dynamat Extreme is a butyl based product that is pretty much peel and stick as long as its room temperature or above.

Damplifier Pro has taken it a step further by having a butyl product that isn't a gooey mess and has thicker aluminum for better performance.

  • you are wrong as hell buddy...dynamat is butyl based as well. fatmat is asphalt based

  • Tmac go ask the manufacturer then. Get your facts straight.

  • They make it look so easy. It's a pain in the ass to get it molded perfectly. I spent more time using my thumbs than the roller. At least with the Dynamat X-treame kits.

  • Yep. Couldn't agree with ya more on both those statements. 1. they do make it look VERY simple (slap, stick, roll!) and even though it is simple, its time consuming and has to be done right. 2. DynoMat Xtreme (I have that in my trunk myself) is much thicker than regular DynaMat since its made for body panels.
