I never passed through Chicago. I passed through Columbus, OH then Indianapolis, IN then St. Louis, MO then Tulsa, OK then Oklahoma City, OK then Amarillo, TX then Albuquerque, NM then Flagstaff, AZ then to Los Angeles.

I was going to go thru Colorado/Denver but I guess the way you took is better? Please feel free to give me any advice that would be helpful (i will be driving alone)
ro7477, thanks for the comments! If you are going from Cleveland to LA, I would recommend taking the same route I took in these videos. Start out by taking I-71 south to Columbus, where you can get on I-70 west. From there, the rest is the same as in my videos. I would advise you to avoid Colorado at all costs at this time of year. You can run into more snow west of Denver than you ever wanted to see!
I went back to PA from LA through UT and CO, and I must say, it took me much much longer. So I would definitely recommend the route I took in these videos, especially during this time of year (and the next few months). If you will be driving alone like I was, take some snacks/water/gatorade along with you, stop every 2 or 3 hours for a break, and just have fun and enjoy seeing America! Be safe, don't get in a hurry.
Also, a few more tips about hotels. Motel 6 seems to have the best rates. I stayed at one in Fenton, MO (SW of St. Louis off I-44) the first night, an Econo Lodge in Shamrock, TX the second night, a Motel 6 in Williams, AZ the third night, then went from there. Check out Motel 6's website to see where they are located along the route and see if you can hit a few of them along the way, they are usually pretty cheap and will save you some money.
