I know all these people, been to all these houses..I remember flying in these planes, Aero commanders they call them, it use to be like flying in a fuckin HEARSE LOL! beautiful island but managed by the most fucked up most prejudiced company. Maybe things has changed since then for the better now with people like Steven Joachim running the show.
@Immaculite .....Puros comentarios estupidos. Mustique es una "isla Hotel" muy, pero muy privada. quienes digan que trabajaron ahi mienten. aAmenos que sea en el hotel.
I lived and worked on the island for 6 years (almost 20 years ago). At times it was stressful but overall loved the Vincy spirit and quit lifestyle. I loved to hike the south-east part of the island which didn't have much development - and the bat cave!
Mustique is what u make of it. I just came off the island after a short stay.Where else can you stay rich or poor like me without the bother of being harassed . its not a hyper island but mor of total relaxiation privacy and absolute luxury. As for the politics ,want no part of it. the racism if you go looking for it u will find it like anywhere else , my only critism is that there are too many houses now .
Didn't really enjoy mustique to be honest. We stayed in Blue Moon a few years back and the whole island seemed a bit run down. They were digging up a lot of the 'roads' and the beach at the cotton house was a mess to be quite honest. Great to get away from it all, but not much going on and some of the cotton house crowd were self obsessed pretentious plonkers. At least the cats at the Firefly were friendly.
Mustique IS the most prejudice racist and corrupt island in the Grenadines. this iz concealed from the tourists but behind the scenes are the big under worked over paid employees of the Mustique Co. whilst the locals and other workers which makes up for most of the work force are looked down on and treated like shit. tucked away on parts of the island where you cant imagine the living conditions of the rooms and facilities.
Mustique is Paradise. I spent time at the Cotton House Hotel and it was wonderful. Firefly and Basil's, walks on the beach, horse-riding, tennis, star gazing... it really was bliss. It won't be your thing if you like loads of parties etc. It is tiny and tranquil. The only thing I didn't like was where most of the locals live - really terrible conditions and tucked away.
My advice is not to go. It is the most racist, corrupt & badly managed place we have ever stayed. There is NOTHING to do there apart from ride a horse and go to one of 2 bars. Go for one to two days, but not 15. You will be bored stupid.....
Wats corrupt about it? mustique provides a lot of jobs for inhabitants of st.vincent. Have u seen the living conditions there? all locals feels privileged to work on mustique, its good pay for when they go back. There's a lot of parties, you just got to know where they are. You're obviously not very sociable
I lived & worked there for 2 years. Corrupt is how it is managed by the 'Security' who are racist against whites and how the Company takes backhanders but gives meagre tips to the Vincentian staff of which we ran a house of 15. Disorganised - don't start me. I knew where the parties were - I preferred to party with the staff rather than the Tuesday night Cotton House BS. Does that answer your question??? 'Obviously not very sociable'. Give me a break? You get that from my 3 line comment...
Riiighttttt........of course that was the problem......I didn't want to hang out with self-obsessed hangers on...or racist locals. Yeah. Totally my bad.
The Mustique Co. is too busy screwing money out of the homeowners to see what goes on, the Security are too busy trying to get white workers/managers kicked off ( I left by choice) to do their job, the Vincentians work their butts off for around 600-800usd per month, any white females in authority are despised automatically by the locals and the Must. Co for bettering the systems in place which do not work, but they don't care as the locals are dispensable to them. Its an island of gossips too
Could you give me informations about tourism in Mustique? I intend to spend 15 days in the island, in one of the villas, with 6 other friends (we are 4 couples). Thank you.
I really enjoyed this. Especially the lack of narration. Everyone can form their own opinions.

Stayed a few times in les jolies eaux- fab house!
My Dad and step mum got married out there, it was fantastic (I was his best man).
I love the Island and can't wait to get back! If your thinking of a chilled out break -
It does'nt get better than this, If you go soak it up - enjoy and have a rum punch in Basil's bar for me, Cheers

Appears to be another Port Douglas on a lesser scale. I suppose the celebs like it as it is so secluded, but for a family holiday? forget it...
The light planes are a bit of a risk as well.

Cheers!

How much did that trip cost? I thought Mustique was for the super-rich only. Then again maybe you are super-rich.
