It is much as a good as any good. I have the option to prepare for my future or not. If I don't want healthcare insurance then why should I be forced to?

The system is an public based insurance under Healthnet open to public market competition differing state by state and you yourself pay a co-pay (stupid). My prediction: If there is a public option in health care, many employers will be dropping private insurance benefits like a hot potato. Why pay to provide health care for employees when the government will do it for free, More corporate profits.

That makes no sense. Private plans have competition from each other. When you give forced customers or public subsidies to some companies you SHIELD them from competition.

If people want affordable health care, they need to get the government out of it altogether. That way, companies can't run for bailouts or forced demand but will have to lower their prices to compete.

Thank you for posting this so quickly! I was at the town hall meeting and I was impressed with the fact that many of us "brainwashed conservatives" listened to Specter and even applauded some of his points. Most people that I spoke with went in and listened to Specter and gave him a chance to speak.
