If they guy had set the zoom as the same on both then he would have seen the same on both on them... Rather than just seeing the Youtube logo... I have got the HTC Tytn 2 and its amazing the GPS is very quick, and the screen is brilliant for watching family guy on the bus! HTC FTW!
I prefer TyTn II because it's faster, more stable, more apps compatible (qvga not wwga) than G900. Toshiba has got awesome screen but too small (3") for WVGA. Toshiba is too slow for this screen... Opera 9.5 doesn't working in landscape and many apps/games doesn't working (also with WVGAfix). My old XDA II was faster than toshiba... :(
I have got toshiba g900 and i'm not HTC fanboy... but HTC is better.
I admit the resolution of the Toshiba is a big up on the HTC. Elsewise, its still good old Windows Mobile. Unless they were witty enough to put a 3.5mm headphone jack on it, and maybe TV-out (which i wouldnt know if it did). I see it as just about identical to the HTC.
Still, I love how much of the YouTube page you could see. Thats what the HTC lack defenitively.
Stop making me realise theres better than my HTC :P
HTC TyTN II disadvantages showed in this video are not a big problem. Comparising TyTN II and G900 OS stability and reaction speed to commands, for me TyTN II is much more better
I am sorry to offer this opinion on the Toshiba G900, but it is in all honesty.
The G900 was basically an absolute waste of time. Battery life was no good for more than one day on a full charge and OS stability was non-existent due to numerous freezes where I had to take out the battery to reset it. In addition to the freezes there was also the vibrate problem where one vibration would continue endlessly for minutes until I took out the battery. Screen blackouts were another major problem.
The G900 speaker was not sufficient for playback of adequate sound and produced horrible distortion in upper levels. The only saving grace was the qwerty which provided sizable buttons with a rounded surface that could allow me to use my fingertips instead of my nails for quick, accurate typing. The camera isn't even worth mentioning and video playback onscreen was okay even though the sound suffered. In my opinion, this and the SE P990 are the only phones that I would rate as far below average.
Signal strength was adequate and no different than the other devices I have owned, but call quality was hampered by low volume and occasional static. Toshiba=good laptops, bad smartphones.
I wish you the best of luck and hope that the firmware has at least been updated since I had last owned the device. I guess the G900 just wasn't the device for me after all. Feel free to let me know your findings once you start using it.
Have you thought about looking at the Toshiba G910 model instead?
Hi! Well, wich version of firmware was installed, do you know?
All articles about G900 I have read are different: some users report similar problems, some of them tell that's great device, lab reviews are in agreement that it is rather good than bad.
Usability wise, the Tilt is a much better choice, smaller forms, better keyboard, 3rd party TouchFlo software, Quacomm 400MHz Dual Core CPU. Best of all, Tilt fits into your pocket and G900 have nowhere to go...
If this is Toshiba's screen resulution, then what will the graphic performance be like? I heard many who complain of HTC's poor graphic performance... Plus, I have a question. Does the screen resolution (e.g. 480 x 800 WVGA 65k) mean that some specific software will be compatable with it, and no where else?) I heard some people saying this is true.
100% Vote for the HTC Tytn 2. I purchased one of these a week ago and id certainly class it so far as unbeatable. You can only experience the true quality in the palm of your hand rather than guessing from youtube videos :)
Can You tell me how works the mode of recognizing hand typing in sms? Does G900 have such a thing? That's a bit interesting. How abut the CPU? I heard that Kaiser have problems with speed (e.g. in TCMP), what about G900?
The point in G900 800 pixels wide resolution is you CAN browse the web or read a pdf document.
800 pixels wide is more than twice the TYTN resolution. On the other hand, the speed of the video in the G900 is slower because it have 5 Times more pixels than the TYTN
Heh, abt the pixeled fonts - Start->Settings->System->Screen->ClearType->Enable... Bought a Kaiser a week ago, sold the G900. G is no match for a Kaiser.
Too much concentration on the graphics. WHO CARES how "pretty" the graphics are. I need a phone that will function anywhere cell service is available. The 900 is a triband, making it useless in many countries. TyTN it is.
Random freezing which was rare. The main problem was when the screen would go to sleep and not come back on. The backlight would come on, but the graphics would not.
The sleeping screen situation and freezing still took place after a reset. I even had trouble with the vibrate feature continuing constantly for minutes at a time. I don't believe I owned the device long to install any software, especially since Opera was pre-installed.

I've just bought a G900 for a very reasonable price and am waiting for it to arrive: Absolon3, what do you think of the G900?
I already own a TyTn 2 and think it is nothing special. My main concerns with the G900 are
1 - that Opera Mobile 9.5 works ok.
2 - that I can install the Touch Diamond keypad.
3 - that I Coreplayer works
4 - that signal strength and battery life are not as poor as some have commented.
Does anyone have any info here before it arrives???

Thanx Great review.
BTW the TYTN II is 240 x 320, not 240 x 620

The pixeled fonts on TyTN is the smallest problem. Big problem is a Kaiser's poor graphic preformance.

Thanks for this great demo.
I'm buying the G900 in Japan very soon (x01t)
It will be with the Japanese Windows though.
Is it possible in Windows Mobile to rename many of the menu options?
If so - I'll rename as many Japanese words to English as I can. Thanks.

May be its due to software that you might have installed. Did you experience freezing after fresh hard reset?

The sleeping screen situation and freezing still took place after a reset. I even had trouble with the vibrate feature continuing constantly for minutes at a time. I don't believe I owned the device long to install any software, especially since Opera was pre-installed.

It seems that the Toshiba wins in your video. The only thing I can see so far wrong with the Toshiba is that it doesn't have GPS. Or does it?
rafa1215 4 years ago
No GPS. I am still keeping my TyTN II and returning the G900 due to glitches that have come up recently in the midst of my testing.
absolon3 4 years ago
No GPS. Despite the amazing screen resolution there are some OS stability and glitch issues. I am returning the G900 soon.
