  • yeah, easy for you to say, your pen goes smootly over the paper. But my pen (read: my school's pen) is like this: you dip it in the ink then you put it on the paper, one big smudgy stripe, and then you have to dip it in ink again, cause it won't give any ink anymore... -.-'

  • women u waste my time.

  • @oj771 Just saying: She was talking about the space inside the letters, not between them, so it's called "Shot glass of kool-aid", not kerning XDDD

  • Italic is one of the easiest alphabets in calligraphy (others are for example uncial, round hand/foundational)

  • Which tipe of pen are you using?

I REALLY NEED TO KNOW THAT!

I WANT TO TRY TO DO CALLIGRAPHY AND I HAVE TO DO WITH A COMMON PENCIL, SO I HAVE TO FILL THE SPACE, AND IT IS VERY DIFICULT

  • erm ...computers?

  • LMFAO "a shot glass of kool-aid"

  • kool aid used to be called fruit smackers!

  • Where the heck did "a shot glass of Kool-Aid" come from?

  • @tommyv331992

I'm guessing that it's her failed way of trying to make shot glass sound more family friendly...that or she's a Jehova's Whitness.

  • @Supertomiman Yeah but regarding the spacing of the letters, I can just not imagine "a shot of Kool-Aid" and imagine a recognizable measurement as a pencil width instead... a shot of Kool-Aid...?

  • Kool-Aid....

  • haters gona hate

  • Well, now tell us How to Master the Calligraphy Style.. I don't think any of us cares that much about your Zebra Logo or that you could tighten up the space between letters =/

  • @Haxxtt

in order to "master" calligraphy, you need to know about spacing and more importsnt about lines. i wrote dozens of papers with just that stroke, before going to letters

  • Haha! Id prefer fresh squeezed juice, but to eaches own!

    thanks for the tip!

  • Easy does it ;)

  • that pen could be fantastic for writing chinese characters

    Type that in Youtube

    Sniper One Handstyles 2009

  • In our contry that pen/nib is called a speedball. I'm wondering if that name is really used elsewhere. If you go into a bookstore and say nib pen they'll wonder what it is and then say "ah you mean a speedball". So, my question is, do other countries use that name for that pen?

  • Easy Does it- Eazy E ^_^

  • Yeah... I can't feel the pen or the paper. =/

  • Where can I buy a calligraphic pen like that - please?

  • @PureAlbanianSoul Michaels

  • omg, i thought the same thing. "wtf, who takes shots of NONALCOHOLIC koolaid?"

  • apparently someone whose logo is a zebra's ass

  • Wow it would just be easier to have someone do it for me professionally. I'm just going to order labels from Bachcroft because it's thrifty, stylish and I can't mess them up.

  • I have a different calligraphy pen

  • i really want to be able to do it properly!

  • This fascinates me. Love of language + aesthetics. :-)

  • ur a cutie i love ur zebra too

  • This are Art Pen from Rotring

  • @maisszabo I use Brause nibs.

  • I'm learning that in my art class at school.

  • lol koolaid!!! crackup who says that

  • whatc cool aid

  • lol shot of koolaid

  • "IBRINGDOOM", I know what you mean I am left handed too. I wanted to learn this and my pen ripped up the paper as well. It's hard being left handed! But dont forget that Gerald Ford and Leonardo Da Vinci were both left handed, and they both wrote a lot. Da Vinci was a painter and inventor. Lot of hand strokes in his life. Ford was the president signing lots of bills and letters.

  • I'm left handed and the pen jams into the paper sometimes, should I write backwards(from right to left)

  • try to change your hand's position, put them upside when you write

  • better put it downside

  • im left handed all i do is just write upside down

  • I want a shot of Kool-Aid batch!

  • @StuyMunger Boy, these responders make a big deal of the Kool-Aid metaphor. I think I'm actually copping that from one of my first teachers, Denny Taipale. The image we want is one of color. like you'd see in an illuminated manuscript. Give the negative space its due weight by pouring, in your mind's eye, that certain volume between and within the letterforms--and make it colored to help you really see it. Is it the same volume in each case?

  • @StuyMunger what is the name of the pencil the old lady is using?

  • Bamboo boar hair brushes are more commonly used for true Chinese Calligraphy. However, Pens are a good way to start out. Later you can move on to the brushes, which are a bit more difficult to use.

  • can these pens be used to do chinese calligraphy ?

  • this video didnt help me..

  • Writing or drawing cannot be learned from someone else, but learn it from yourself.

    That's my kind of opinion.

  • common sence to me and im 13

  • Lol same here.

  • this video was no help to me whatsoever.

    common sense...

  • can someone help me...

how much does these pens ussually cost??

and where do i buy them...

i'm kinda forced to learn calligraphy...

    and i kinda need information...

    please someone help me...

    thx...

  • go to like borders or something and the have it for like 15 bucks but if your talking about a actual pen prob about 40- 60 dollars

  • Pens can go for about 12 to higher amounts based on how pro you want them.........go to michaels and i sugest to buy a quill and ink. they work well and help you learn faster......and dont feel like you are being forced...its fun when you get the hang of it

  • hhhwhite

  • DfieOne that is how americans pronounce the word white...

  • haha im not american

  • does regard the "im not american" comment ... how come some pronounce it hhhhhwhite and some prounce it white i saw it on family guy once and didnt understand it

  • Some people in the South pronounce it "hhhhwhite", although I'm not sure where exactly this is common. Most Americans say "white". Hope this helps.

  • Some people aspirate the "w" when followed by an "h" in certain words.

White and wheel would thus be pronounced with breath.

Most English speakers no longer make this distinction, but some still do depending on their age and region.

  • She's so hiigh..

  • cracktober, What? how is she high?

  • "start to see the white and black patterns.. " "it's important to start seeing them and sensing them as a real weight, you wanna work on spacing, pretend you're pouring a little shot of.. Kool-Aid or something between each letter"

  • Thanks!!!!

  • Where can I buy these pens

  • The brand name is Brause. I bought a set that went from .5mm to 5 mm wide. I used to get them in Salt Lake City, UT and Missoula, MT. Now I don't live in a city with art supply stores and would need to google and mail-order them.

  • just bye a ARTLINE Calligraphy pen from any newsagent

  • can you use a felt tip pen to write/draw calligraphy?

  • Yes, they do make "calligraphy" felt tip pens. They have the canted chisel tip. They do not have the crispness of a steel pen, but they are great fun more informal work like addressing envelopes, etc.

  • same as above

  • i dont have a pen like that, i have a one with a pointed edge not a brush-like edge like u. I often have a hard time getting it to write. can u help

  • Maybe your pen is clogged. Use an old toothbrush and water or pen-cleaning solvent to scrub it and clean it.
