I think you will find that pagansim is very different from most religions seeing as worshipers do not prey to an idol but of the sun and the seasons, big difference. @retepvosnul apart from the fact that the fact that religious texts have no historical or factual truth hasn't been proven, and is therefore not classed as a fact. and certain peices from diffferent religious texts fit together, even though the people who wrote them have different (not by much though) interpretations of events potrayed and described in these religious texts.

Well, the tombs were desacrated, the articles were stolen, and in fact sold in open market places in Egypt or to collectors. Some of the artefacts have found their way to museums and private colections, from where researchers gather their data.
I know PSNmaster's comment is old, but he (she?) should brush up on ancient languages. Coptic is a script comprised of Greek letters and demotic consonants. It does in fact preserve some sounds of ancient Egyptian because it is the last vestige of the ancient Egyptian language, but it's true we don't know how a lot of the vocabulary sounded. The issue is that hieroglyphs, hieratic, and demotic did not use vowels; as close as we come are weak consonants.

The question is Why did the Egyptians, Mayans and others build costly pyramids?

Second, Islam says that the pyramids must be protected, as they offer proof of the story of the Jews and the Pharaohs. Just look at their movies and how women seldom wear a hijab, but put a lot of make-up in them. Your media tells you a different story, and only show women with a burqa on. I think you will find that pagansim is very different from most religions seeing as worshipers do not prey to an idol but of the sun and the seasons, big difference. Preying to the sun at alter stones within stone circles at certain time sof the year, ie sumer and winter solstace's would, in pagans eyes, make for a productive crop. So paganism is more to do with the balance of nature and subsistance as apposed to one god or prophet. A much more sensible religion for farmers at the time i think

@retepvosnul apart from the fact that the fact that religious texts have no historical or factual truth hasn't been proven, and is therefore not classed as a fact. and certain peices from diffferent religious texts fit together, even though the people who wrote them have different (not by much though) interpretations of events potrayed and described in these religious texts.

@Killtor448 Whatever gave you that idea ? That in itself is interpretation. Look, the sources are unreliable AT BEST, most are contradictory, our anthropological understanding of the origins of ancient storytelling is quite clear. It is a lot of fantasy and distortion at most based on a single insignificant, semi-related, event. A lot of sources can never be established as reliable, but evidence does indicate if they could be or not, and scripture is bogus squared. No morals, truth or fact,nada!

@Killtor448 That said, Seeing as it has not been proven a proper source and having all the circumstantial and indirect evidence (&common sense) against it, tells you it should simply not be used as a source. If you do want to use it as such, first properly research it yourself, which you can not, because proofing something that probably is not true in a scientific manner is hard to do without committing fraud. Any claim you make based from scripture is as low is value as the scripture is itself.

This is true. The early pashas were more interested in modernizing Egypt than preserving monuments. In fact, the masonry of some monuments was removed to make lime, factories, and buildings. Villagers excelled at looting tombs, but only because they were very poor and could make good money selling antiquities to Westerners. Still, let's be honest: no one exploited Egypt more thoroughly than Europeans, my own ancestors.

Remember, also, that Egypt has been under Islam's control for more than 10 centuries. Islam does not consider these places sacred and for many centuries they were just abandoned. When, those areas came under British control, the interest in arqueology and Egyptology was allowd to resurface and many discoveries and studies were done. The poor Egyptian did not see a problem in robbing those monuments or disrupting them because, again, they were coming from a very different worldview, Islam.

We tend to think that the past is more advanced, but is it? Look where we are in science today. Scinece has build on the past, and then Eureka, it appears out of nowhere, not based on previous knowledge. Good read is The structure of Scientific Revolutions.

You think science is more advanced today? Scientists spend lifetimes trying to figure out how the ancients done things. All science, philosphy, religion etc came from this part of the world. We are just remembering the things our ancestors already knew. For example it is the only place where a stone building exists that is perfectly aligned with truth north. Modern architects have tried to do this and failed. All pyramids and burial chambers are 100% symmetrical. We are just playing catch up

Yes.But Egyptians no telegraphs, the locomotive, airplanes, cell phone, electricity, etc. Knowledge about one aspect of science doesn't mean more advancement, but jusadvancement. This reminds me of my fahter's statement : "All I know is that unless the heart of people is changed, free of envy, jealousy, strife, etc., there will be no real change." but we, nor the Egyptians had, the strength to change ~ heart and education alone has not done it either. "Advanced:" heart or works?

Air champers were used as a sort of ancient air conditionind. Probably worked just as well as modern a/c units but i bet that there was a constant breeze throught the whole construction at one time.
I have a theiry that the Largest of the three pyramids in Egypt(kafre i think) act as a sort of powerhouse. The kings chamber was made of solid granite. THere were also chambers reaching to the nile river underground today of course, but that crazy stuff too. also hear that there were tunnels

No one to this day knows the real purpose of the shafts, I'll give you that. Two of the shafts were blocked off because the chamber from which they branched off was not used as the burial chamber.
I think you've stumbled across a lot of fringe, alternative historical, and other dubious information, DIVERSITYRECESSION3. A lot better and more reliable information is out there.

Finished granite was used throughout the King's Chamber, also in the Grand Gallery and in the relieving chambers. So?
Why is the sarcophagus so tiny?
It's not tiny. It's a very typical style of sarcophagus for Dynasty 4.
Why no hieroglyphics?
Royal and private tombs were not decorated until the next dynasty. That was the norm.

There's no proof they did. We couldn't possibly know. Early Islamic people removed almost all of the limestone casing.

Homo sapiens did not exist 1.8 million years ago. There is debate as to our origins but at most it was 400,000 years ago. You're thinking of other, earlier hominid species. Plato's Atlantis is a myth, an allegory. There's no proof of it. He writes that Egyptian priests told Solon of it, but I can assure you there is no extant text or record in Egypt that even mentions Atlantis. It is purely a Greek morality tale in origin.

Well, the tombs were desacrated, the articles were stolen, and in fact sold in open market places in Egypt or to collectors. Some of the artefacts have found their way to museums and private colections, from where researchers gather their data.

I know PSNmaster's comment is old, but he (she?) should brush up on ancient languages. Coptic is a script comprised of Greek letters and demotic consonants. It does in fact preserve some sounds of ancient Egyptian because it is the last vestige of the ancient Egyptian language, but it's true we don't know how a lot of the vocabulary sounded. The issue is that hieroglyphs, hieratic, and demotic did not use vowels; as close as we come are weak consonants.

The pyramids were made 10,000 years ago. The three main ones anyway. Orion Constellation. No where in hieroglyphics does it show how or even when the pyramids were built. The ancient Egyptians just used what there predecessors left them. Strange thing is I think there are time travelers around.(500,000 year old spark plug)

Look up the 500,000 year old spark plug, or the archeological evidence of pottery in strata dated millions of years ago. There are even foot prints of humans next to dinosaur foot prints. If you look at the stars 10,000 years ago you can see the Pyramids in Egypt line up exactly with the constellation Orion. Some shred.

The shafts in the Great Pyramid line up to celestial objects in the sky from about 4,500 years ago and mesh perfectly with the state religion of Dynasty 4. Shred? Shredded.
