*puzzled disconcerted face* *jaw drop* Hahah, WOW! I have seen some pretty crazy looking sign names(given by Deaf/HOH)..seems my area, don't really follow the "rules" hardly at all. Like sign names are not suppose to have any real significance is that right? Like my first name was "a" wavy hair(for the record i have never had wavy hair) and the second one was "a" happy, cuz of my personality. however, I've been given a new 1 to match the rules "a" tapped twice mid chest. Do you know the "rules"?
Okay cool. A friend of mine in Indianapolis said the Deaf community is much more strict and I'm looking to move there, so a Deaf friend gave me the new sign name. Maybe it's not mid chest..upper chest I suppose, where you would sign "happy" so the old sign name was like happy only with an "a", the new one is just tap tap in the same locale.
My question is: Are many Deaf unaware that there are rules to sign names? Examples: one handed w/"k" like basketball or "e" harmony(peace)??there's so many!
cont. or is it that the rules have changed, are changing, or, I suppose that's getting into linguistics? Maybe there is a simple answer, or is it deeper? Just like hearing people make up nick names or even making up names by changing spellings that look weird? You get what I'm saying..I'm just curious.. Thanks for any info!
Same with my partner's name sign is strange, SEE...but my best friend gave him. Now, he's stuck with it because everyone already called him. My best friend is Deaf, but why!?! Now I can't stop it...actually signing 'doctor' with "K" handshape. Now I am pretty used to it, ha ha
Thats a funny sign name. A strange one at that too! I am a hearing person and I got my sign name from one of my deaf friends and I thought mine was strange until now! LOL!
LMAO!!!! Whoa!!! No, it's not the ridiculously sign name, it's your face expression that make me laughing. Haha! Anyway, I find it hard to believe that it was a deaf person gave her the sign name. Typically, that kind of sign name would be expected to be created by a hearie person. Funny vlog! lOL

Smiles... well I do know the rules of name signs. Your name signs that tapped twice mid chest is appropriate. :)

For clarification: Deaf person DID NOT give her sign name, it's the person who invented her own sign name. :)
