@originaldriver thanks...the LS stuff is awesome. Its about time GM went to a ford style head :) Im actually considering doing a CTS-V turbo combo next. No need to cross brands though, I can make good power with what ever I have.
@vossperformance You're doing a CTS-V turbo? Sounds nice. Im currently swapping a 5.3l LM7 chevy into a third gen with my buddy. We managed to score a t88/to4 turbo with a 50mm wg and a air/air intercooler for dirt cheap. Im building a megasquirt with 2 peak/hold injector driver boards and wasted-spark COP control. It ought to be pretty fun.
@jplumber100 i know you posted the comment 3 weeks ago, but how exactly is he been a dick about his car? is it because he took pictures of th build, posted it on youtube therefor it leads you to think he's bragging or something? personally i think he was just proud of his car and wanted to do a video of the build with pics. nothing wrong with that is there.
@turbomoore Edelbrock performers and some nice stainless eBay headers. Plug clearance was just like factory...if you think about it the heads don't know the headers are on backwards because the heads them selves can be used on either side.
@DiEGO2DaBAY Great thats what I like to hear. If it inspires you to build something of your own I invite you to document the build on TheFabForums. Its a great place to get ideas also.
@shishisha11 Start to finish I think it was around 3500....I think there is a break down on the forum. If not ask the question and i will get it posted. Thanks
Dude really good job! I just did a deal that if i take out the 5.7L out of a 2001 cobra R i cna keep the car, all the guy wants is the engine, tranny, and the differencial. Im going to keep the shell till i decide what to do, any recomendations with the engine, tranny and differencial i should put?
@vossperformance Yeah i am going to try to keep it stock, after all only 300 cobra R were made, im going to be one of them! Shyt man i am 19 years old and i am so exited about owing a cobra, btw is a 2000 cobra R not 2001, sorry
@iPurexBoost i have an idea. something i have never seen before. i think you should run a procharged Ls1 in a cobra. i mean think about it you can pick up a used motor with harness and tranny for around 3500 and and with very little mods you can hit 500hp and then throw a procharger on it and your lookin at 600hp to 700hp depending on what blower and psi you use for cheaper than you could pick up a good stock cobra motor and it would be holy shit your pants fast.
@primeredstang thats a good question...I thought about using an electric fan. It would have actually been much easier. There was two reasons...1. I didnt want to have to count on an electric fan. If I wanted to go cruise at the beach, rod run, super long drives, I knew as long as I had a belt I was good to go. If it broke I could get another one anywhere for little money. Not so with a electric fan if it were to quit. 2. I tried to see how cheap I could build a real quality turbo car.
I made the inyake my self...i actually have a vid of one i made with carbon fiber, also finishe another steel one.

WHO did the intake? You or is it a hogan's?

Very nice!! Going with electronic radiator fan would have freed up 8-14hp?
MacDaddySupreme69 2 months ago
was it cheeper for you to do this custom setup as to buying a kit?
snickel6824 3 months ago
@snickel6824 Yea it was much cheaper for me...plus I couldnt find a kit I liked that had the turbo located on the driver side.
vossperformance 3 months ago
As many of these car are receiving Chevy LS swaps, its actually becoming rarer to see a Ford powerplant under the hood.
In any case, nice build.
