  • Nice fish i just caught one that was 10 foot out at astoria oregon last weekend and it took 25 mins to pull in

  • Ya load em in your truck take them home , chop them up, put em in the freezer. Feed the guts to the cat.

  • Hey guys, I have to say, pretty nice handling of the fish, it is rare these days to find such videos on YouTube or any other site. About a minute to take measurements of the fish without really touching the fish nor getting it out of the water (Even though it is pretty darn hard to get such a huge fish out of the water! Haha).

Good job guys, hope you catch more fish like that, you deserve it.

    Francis.

  • why do people even want to eat sturgeon? especially old ass big ones

  • @cooldude3001 because "old ass big ones" have more meat than the "young ass small ones"

Besides if you knew anything you would know that Sturgeon(the pallid) is an endangered species fish because of its spawning and reproduction. Males dont mature for 15 years and females take 8 to 12 years. Not to mention all the daming of the missouri river preventing them from swimming up stream as far as they would like. You pull a pallid sturgeon out of the water you can get a giant fine.

  • @Meleemaker well the older the meat, the more fishy it tastes, and in my opinion thats bad. You just proved my point more, its endangered, why would people want to eat it? I'm sure the meat isn't that great compared to pickerel, perch, or crappie, and i'm able to catch many of those in and around the ottawa river, there is sturgeon in the ottawa, but its rare, and they can get big, if i ever hook one by accident i'm not going to eat it thats for sure.

  • Thats a huge fish 0.0

Nice catch, and thanks for actually letting him go. :)

I hooked one of these on the snake river once, I was using a regular WORM, and one got a hold of it... while reeling him in, my hat got stuck in the line, I bent over to get it, the sturgeon got the slack, jumped up, and did a barrel roll with my line.

  • i so want to fish for stergeon. but i only course for carp tench catfish. sometimes pike barbel along rivers. whats the fight in a stergeon compared to? Anything like a cat fish ? and what tackle would you use like t/c rod , pound line etc Lol.

  • THANK YOU FOR LETTING HIM GO .

  • wow damn i didn't know they wil get thet big

  • i cant help it, but thats totally what she said

  • hahahaha nicely done.

  • @carppike1 They can get up to 20.

  • what baitfish was that?????????????? Grammas kisses look at that vid it is helly hilarious

  • like a sturgeon... for the very first time

  • that's a big White Sturgeon

  • watever

  • Funny how people always try to top each in who catchs a bigger fish. yet they dont have a video of it.

  • its still weak shit

  • that's a bunch a bull.

  • no its not its the truth

  • I've heard that one before, you got a video of it.

  • We went fishing today and the fish were hitting like crazzayy!!!!

  • oh snap?!?! really?!?!?!?!

  • is them types of fish in columbus ohio you know

  • say what?!?!?!

  • a live shad as bait i c

  • nice heh...

  • Holy Shit That's a HUGE! FISH!

  • i think the best sturgeon fishing is in the columbia river..we caught 24 of them,, all catch-and release the biggest 9 foot,,in oregon thay have a slot limit is 48 to 60inches,, thay are good to eat but we let them all go

  • Good man you are then.

  • it is illegal to eat sturgeon because they are so endangered

  • that's huge. just imagine swimming in a lake or river and having that brush up against your leg.

  • reminds me of swimming in the mississippi river!

  • omfg i wanna eat it!! why is it illegal?

  • on a boat yes but on land doesnt matter

  • buddy said "it's a baby"... the biggest i ever saw was 19 lbs.... nice catch!

  • I thought it was only illegal if you pulled it into the boat, If you cut the line it aint.

  • yeah it is illegal but did you something like this could ne mistaken for lochness monster

  • That bait is a good catch for me lol

  • that's bait for me man!

  • Yeah, good job Forest. Thank your stupid ass friend for posting this video. I hope you get fined.

  • im not into sturgeon fishing, mostly steelhead. why would he be fined?

  • it is illegle in some states like mass.

  • Amazing fish, cheers for posting the vid.

  • It's huge!

  • HOLY SHIT!

  • caught a few of those bad boyz catch n release :)

  • whatever

  • their bodies looked like sharks. that's scary

  • You`re losing it. The biggest fish caught in the fraser was nearly 2200 pounds dude...

and no, no one can keep them. They are endangered. It takes them 25 years to reproduce.

  • yes you can keep them. you can kill them and eat them. they taste very good. nearly 2000 are speared on Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin every year

  • and...i bet the biggest fish you caught was like 5 inches rite?

  • thats right

  • not ALL of them are endangered. There is like 1 species of sturgeon that aren't endangered that you are definitely allowed to eat.

  • They spawn all the time by the hundreds of thousands if I am not mistaken and not just once like a salmon...

  • holy crap!

  • the rule is u can not take it out of the water so u have to get to shore to hold it

and no u cant take it home with u

  • i hope they know that touching thos kind of fish is illegil.

  • keeping them is illegal

  • who told you that? Its not illegal. Where do you think caviar comes from?

  • Although the retention of white sturgeon in Canada is illegal, the ancient fish are a tempting target for poachers that can sell both the meat and eggs (caviar) on the black market. Convicted offenders can face high fines and jail time.

Thats in Canada dumb ass do your research

  • are you just talking to yourself?

  • i was talking to you

  • I dont live in canada. I live in california where only green sturgeon are illegal...

  • thats cool i live in canada where all sturgeons are illegal

  • holy crap, thatd fead a family for weeks

  • lol

  • @qwerty999110 it could but best not to eat them now cuz theyre endangered in the US

  • @qwerty999110 but they do taste good smoked cuz you can find them at some restuarante

  • Where are these guys fishing off of?

  • hurray they freed him :)

  • Thats a nice fish from the columbia. and no they are not bigger in the fraser.. the fish are WAY smaller on average.... the columbia is and will always be the best sturgeon river in the world

  • a so little that is the breaffast for my betta splendens from 8 cm this fish is only 9 feet long my fish eat him :P

  • 'Let's show them who the boss is' - What a dick. Yes master, I will do as you say!

  • it's a shame to put in all that effort to reel it in just to have to release it. they have to be within a few inches of 5 feet (I can't remember exact measurements) in order to keep them. fun experience though I gues

  • you'd better guess... catch and release buster

  • I know right... I'd eat it

  • bigger in BC

  • Holy fishcakes!! Thats a biggun, would they atteck humans?

  • No dude, those things only have a mouth as big as a man's arm I think. Just go along the bottom and suck stuff up.

  • dude, i use that fish for BAIT!

  • what do u catch blue wales?

  • ive seen some big ones on the columbia river in washington...fuckin amazing

  • omg naice fish!

  • 9 foot fish wo

  • big

  • hey i would be glad to have caught that fish that you guys where using for bait lol nice fish

  • dang

  • i bet that fish will be a bit more weary the next time is sees some floating fish before if eats them

  • nice freshwater shark you got there

  • wow

  • jesus christ that thing is big.............

  • jesus christ that thing is big.............

  • they don't even act surised

  • jesus.. huge

  • where's all this action at???

  • nice fish..one of the best one i see..

  • Good Job!! The catching but more than anything, the release! Bravo!

  • ive seen people have arms broken when those things shake.... aslo when you fish em' in the la area they jump 5 feet out of the water.

  • Nice to see that the fish is released. Too often, the fish are caught for nothing more than show....a sad waste of a majestic fish...

  • r them fish eatable? if so any good? we dont have them down here in Australia. would be lota fun to catch.

  • that is on ugly lookin fish lol

if i caught that i would release it as well

but if it was like a 9 foot flatty or marlin or tuna or something no way i would throw it away

  • way to c@r

  • Fantastic fish! Happy that it was set free afterwards.

  • what a great vocabulary you have, all those years of education down the pan...lol...I love your enthusiasm for your cause... it takes brains to call some one names. Shame I dont have a dog maybe you could gut my teddy bear he's called Mohammed. Now that would be worth filming and putting on you tube. Give the muslims something to think about.lol pmsl. chill.

  • I kinda agree with him though even if his vocabulary isn't the highest quality.

  • man i hope i catch one we have them in tn.

  • haha its like i shark :D beautiful fish

  • dude why do people kill sturgeon, caviar is horrible! sturgeon are awsome tho rite who doesnt love em

  • its food and I happen to love eating sturgeon.

  • wow guys that was beautiful. Its nice to see people enjoying these prehistoric beasts. That was great to watch

  • That thing is freakin huge How could he get that in! Wow!!!!!

  • jesus...thats freak'n big..

  • sturgon comes from the ocean right then in to the rivers?? rite?

  • No.. they live in the river.

  • yes.. there are also landlocked sturgeon that live in lakes exclusively.

  • The white and green sturgeon on the west coast regularly go back and forth between the ocean and various rivers and estuaries. They're considered anadromous like salmon, steelhead, lamprey, and stripers, but they have quite a unique life cycle/style in comparison to those.

  • Well, when i'm catching fish, I usually eat them if I don't release them... ESPECIALLY PIKE and or muskie. It's just silly when people keep 'em and mount them though

  • fishingontheebro dot com ????????????????

  • its not dead most fish wont die even if they're out of the water for a few minutes. but i agree that iff you do kill it at least eat it

  • * Is it illegal? I've never heard that. I'm planning a trip and haven't heard about it being illegal.

  • Yes it's illegal

  • sturgeon are tough fish and 55% of them dont die

the majority of them die from indian fishing nets

  • btw trudi is right wtf hang it pn the wall we cant all be jesus. i would have that fish head on me doorbell and give the rest to my cat free food for a year to the poor cat:D mohaha

  • It's called sport fishing. Go read a book about it, if you can.

  • Are sturgen from the U.S. found in warm ir cold waters??

  • Beautiful Fish. Nice catch. And good on ya for letting it go.

  • u cant keep a fucking sturgeon enyway its illegal

  • um letting the bigger fish go is the smart thing to do, duhh. The bigger fish are extremely important to breeding and the continuation of quality fishing on that body of water. Keeping the larger fish simply to stick it on the wall is exactly the reason so many of the worlds waters have been fished almost clean.

  • a BABY???

  • i heard there are rly big Sturgeons down at Redding CA in there lake since they said under the lake used to be a city so now they also said BIG Sturgeons live there like rly big!

  • well duh a sturgon grows till it dies all its life i think like catfish

  • where is this?

  • They use whole fish like dat for bait. All i use is a couple grass shrimp on a hook and i catch a 7 footer on a peir in ocean to.

  • Sturgeon is delicious

  • I'm trying to imagine the pain of a man pulling a hook caught in my mouth.

  • I went fishing on a place called Pitt River....I was aiming for some Lake Trout(dunno how it got in a river) and White Fish, but who knew I'd hook a 9-foot Sturgeon? I thought it was a log, but Logs don't fight back and don't jump outta' the water. Anyways, some other fishermen hooked the same guy, but this time brought him ashore.

Anyways, that must've been some fight for you guys. It usually takes 30 minutes to bring Sturgeon on shore ^^

  • i went to the Veddar river for a fishing trip too, some large fish bent my hook straight as door nail and got away

  • haha. but ouch for the fish though. "fish... i feel ur pain... NOT!"

  • poor baby that must hurt

  • dude the biggest sturgeon in the world is the chinese sturgeon it gets to be 4 meters long and can way over 1000lbs and if u dont no how much 4 meters is it is 13 feets and its the biggest out of all 27 sturgeons

  • that is completely incorrect. the beluga sturgeon can reach 5 meters and 2000lbs. look it up.

  • True. People don't seem to understand just how big they can be. There are rumors of Beluga sturgeon 26 feet long and weighing 7,000 pounds—bigger than a Great White Shark.

  • If I was swimming in a lake and saw one of those next to me, I'd probably $h!t myself!!

  • ditto for me, in fact I hate seeing anything that isn't a human in the water when i'm swimming. even seewead

  • hahaha, same here XD

  • What is the record for sturgeon

  • Record:168 pounds,Nattawasaga Lake, Ontario, 1982

a larger sturgeon was caught in Burnett county wisconsin, in yellow lake that weighd 170 pounds, 10 ounces but is not registered as a north american record. They historically reached over 200 pounds.

  • good lord! that sucker was huge, great job guys.

  • was that a shark lmfao wata kak

  • That looked like a good 200-300 lber. I am glad you let it go. The biggest sturgeon I have seen is a 1500 lb Beluga sturgeon.

  • OMFG! That is one huge Sturgeon

  • what kind of line were you using there/bait

  • is that a fresh water shark? cuz it looks like a shark....

  • no its a fucking sturgeon what the hell do you think?

  • Wow that's a big fish. Didn't know they were so big. nice job man!

  • vary nice.

  • i love to see a grand old fish like that released

  • way to go. i love to catch em,,tho none like him. but i also release. how old do you reckon he wouldda been?

  • try kenora ontario for sturgeon, its great fun

  • Excellent clip. I got a couple of sturgeon clips in my channel as well, but the fish are not as big as this. ;)

  • nice fish

  • mate, that is an awesome catch. even though you have to release them. Do you reckon that you could even get that 9 footer in the boat if you wanted to?

  • This fish probaby weighed over 300lbs so I don't think I would want to try and get it in the boat. Thanks

  • is it edible?

  • Sturgeon are very good eating this one would be illegal to keep in my state because it was too big. the big ones are the breed stock so it's important to let them go. But they are a hardy fish and are a challenge to catch!

  • lol yah same here

  • i think that bait is bigger then most the fish i catch

  • nice catch

  • wow.that sure is a whopper.can you eat them?what do they taste like?

  • Small sturgeon are very good to eat. anything under 4 ft and over 6ft and you have to let them go. this was a white sturgeon from the Columbia River in Wa State

  • far out.are they common? im from way down in new zealand and theres nothing like that here

  • I wouldn't say that they are common but when the shad come in the large ones are much easier to catch. Big bait = big sturgeon
