@karlbridge oSwiss Hawker Hunter is always without recording of the jet sound. You just hear the Pilot and the Co-Pilot/customer talk together. But the music was not my choice. I prefer rock to a jet fighter flights :)

Geographically, Mont Blanc is in France, very close to the Swiss border. I believe, though, that one could include it in the term Swiss Alps, albeit in a much broader context. It is certainly part of the Alps and in no way detracts from the beauty of this video.

i once saw two f/a-18 doing stunts in switzerland above zermatt. when they were doing dogfights they weren't flying any 100ft above ground. i felt pretty owned when those jets were flying towards me o0 xD

That makes me wonder what angle of attack a hunter can maintain in a climb.

@flyinDPOD this hasn't much to do with Angle of Attack (AoA). A plane can be flying vertically and still have the same AoA that it has in sustained straight and level flight. The wing doesn't see the airflows any differently in either case. But I think I know that what you are wondering about is the wonderful climb up the face of the Matterhorn! In all of this flying, entries to manoeuvres are smooth, the AoA is nowhere near stall angle, and the stresses on the airframe are low. Cheers.

Unlike todays fighters, which have more thrust than weight, the hunter could not maintain a vertical climb before stalling, so I wonder what angle, relative to the vertical, that a hunter at full throttle needed to assume to maintain a constant climb to max altitude. THAT is what In was wondering.

they go through over 4 ears of college, 4 years of aireonautical school, 4 years in swiss army pilot, then they can rank up and they are the best commercial airline pilots in the world. i was born in bex, switzerland in the alps. every september there is a flying show (idk how u call it) america was invited, but refused because of the narrow valley it was located in. :)

My late father was the RAF's last Cheif Technician on the Hunter

As a young boy (61 now) I spend many hours on an airbase nearby to watch Hunters (mk 4,6 and 7). Later I joined the RNLAF for a short period (4 years). The Hunterdays were over then. The historical flight of the RNLAF has two Hunters (MK 8) in flying condition at airbase Leeuwarden (EHLW) in the nothern part of Holland. The Swiss Airforce was one of the last European Airforces flying operational with this beautiful aircraft, and how: see the video.
