  • Oh she's just so adorable! I'm obsessed

  • alarm clOCkk..

  • What does she say at the beggining? I like to hear "I know I can do this", but I don't know if that's actualy what she says or not haha.

  • @JuliansuSaganias I think she's saying "I wonder if i can play this song" but i don't know for sure

  • lmfaoo i just started listening to joni and dieddd when i hear this regins song! love youu regggii <3

  • I love this song :)

The recording that I downloaded off Respektonline sounds exactly like this one but isn't cut off.

  • sounds weired but i kinda like how it gets cut off at the end, makes it very Regina - in my opinion x

  • I heard she was pretty heavily influenced by Joni. It makes sense because they both have offbeat lyrics.

  • ZOMG! Joni Mitchell reference!!!

  • is there any way to upload the full song with the ending? this song is so powerful and incredible!

  • This really is a beautiful song.

I go to a Christian Evangelical university. We have a show coming up next semester, and I would love to perform this song for it. This is the only place where I've ever seen it; I can't find it anywhere else. If you could find another version, or a complete version (with the ending, for ideas on that end) I would greatly appreciate it.

  • Regina Spektor is so beautiful and talented <3

  • Top class. Regina Spektor is the most talented singer in this world. I have no words to describe this woman. This song. This voice. THIS VOICE.

When I die, whenever that is, I hope to God that I die listening to her music, because I would die smiling and completely at peace with this world and the next and the next and the next.

  • Everytime I come to listen to a song I suscribe only to find out I have already suscribed, lol. :D

  • In-laws.

    New York accent.

    :)

  • Yeah, in an interview she said sometimes she takes up a New York accent b/c she loves NY and it's culture. :) I love her, lol.

  • the songs meaning is kinda confusing but i think its a beautiful and thought provoking song :)

  • i love this song :D

this lyrics arent bleak people just dont spent enough time and brain power to figure it out. they just see the surface meaning and take it as an insult without taking time to see what underneath

  • Exactament mon brave! :D

  • Completly missed the point of the song.

Devil is the master of disguise so Jesus could (theoreticly) be the devil pretending to be God's son - using cheap tricks like turning water into wine.

That's just one take on it. It could also mean that (organised) religion can lead to more darkness than light(ness).

  • That is exactly what I got from this song. She is calling Jesus the devil but I really am not suprised that she thinks this way considering many Jews think this but are too afraid to admit it. Really only the ebionite jews view jesus in a good light.

  • I hardly think that she is calling jesus the devil. I think she is just trying to make a point that we are all human.

  • @justforthesparks I'm not even gonna claim to know Jesus'es full story (nobody can, really, but I dont even know the parts we're all supposed to :p) but seeing how all saints go trough a phase of temptation where the devil comes and tempts them, I think there must have been a moment where Jesus harbored demons.

  • @xxdiogenescynicxx That's not true.. Most Jews see Jesus as a prophet.. We all believe he was human, which is what Regina is saying. And that there is good and bad in everything, and everyone.

  • People worry so much about mocking. Honestly, if God exists, then he/she/it (or however you percieve God) will decide who Regina's mocking, and it's not your job to do that. She just saying what she thinks, and there's nothing wrong with that. She never said she was singing to praise God, I think she was only ever singing to sing.

  • I think this song is beautiful because everyone is portrayed as ordinary.

Though that is probably what can bother people.

I think the song is more about defining or labeling things - good/bad, dark/light - and how you really can't.

It's not about religion. Or mocking it.

  • Love how she even sings "sittin in a park in Paris France" how joni sings it. Top song again. Thanks for posting spektography.

  • The pleasure is ours :)

  • exactly my thought. i love how she always experiments and samples from other great artists

  • love the allusion to joni mitchell's song 'california' (if you don' know it, look it up--she's also great)

  • This is my fav Regina Spektor song.

  • Beautifull x

Thank you for putting all of these together:)

Your the only one that's put enough care in to do as much as you can.

    x

  • I'm sorry that I have overlooked your comment, thank you so kindly for your words :)
