That's not entirely correct. We're not currently sure whether or not the universe is actually still accelerating. However, the theory described in the song: "The Big Crunch" is one of several possible and mathematically likely scenarios for the end of this universe. Of course, like the song says, it'll only cause an even bigger bang - and then expansion started, wait... etc.

We actually know that it is expanding with an increasing acceleration. So "The Big Rip" is one of the most likely scenarios and not 'The Big Crunch." Still a great song.

well, the big bang theory is based off the fact that there was a dense collection of energy in the center of the universe before it began expanding. i'm not exactly sure how you can believe that energy got there without some being creating it. saying "it just is" isn't quite an argument either.
