I find that when I pray and actually thank my Heavenly Father for each thing or blessing around me, I am filled with joy and love. I appreciate it more when I tell Him exactly what I appreciate. It also makes me appreciate Him so much more. I was once in deep depression. After sitting and looking at all the things around me that I didn't really care a whit about, saying thankyou for them, I awoke the next day feeling happy! It was such a miracle. Gratitude is at the root of happiness!

How fantastic!!! I never knew why I felt so uncomfortable or out of touch with gratitude, I was never given the chance to FEEL it! Moms mean well, but now I see the correct perspective. Thanks for this one, Brad. Made me very emotional for one reason or another.

An interesting thing you bring up about being forced into "acting" grateful as a child. That's one of the main reasons I've often resisted the "Feel grateful!' mantra of many of the current LOA & abundance "gurus", because it felt like just another obligation or "the right thing to do". It seldom felt like a genuine feeling to me.
