Monfils didnt deserve to win this match...I´m argentine, I really like France, but this was like a football match in which a team defends 90 minutes and makes a goal in the only chance it has.
@devilemperor123 Only difference is tennis you have to actually reach a certian score in order to win. How to get to that score before your opponent is up to the players :P.
@Swordsman808 Oh my god ..... Gay sports? what do you prefer? lets- chase- him- and- jump- onto- his fac-e till -he -suffocates- rugby? or maybe the even meaningless one , baseball? stupid stupid people , so sad that europe didnt send some teachers with the colonies back then , maybe you couldve learnt something , and not act like that today....
The thing about Monfils is that if you want to beat him, you have to keep a long rally going, don't try anything tricky because he'll just make you look stupid, and eventually he'll make an error. He's so athletic and fast that your chances of getting a winner or getting a drop shot he can't get to are similar to Halley's Comet odds. The only way he is beaten is from his errors, because he's so damn good at getting to everything that you'd be more than lucky to get double digit winners.
Nalbandian is a shotmaker but Monfils is just insane. this guy is like a counterpuncher but you gotta feel for him since he goes for EVERYTHING. diving here. splits there. what an entertainer!!
Nalbandians made a career out of rolling guys off the court, then hitting the winner once they are out of position. He is an artist and a master at this. But guys who get everything back like Monfils and Djokovic are a nightmare matchup for him. Those short angle rollers without much pace don't phase players who can run them down and turn defense to offense.
so good to see Nalby getting back to form...agaisnt someone slower he had the game to win....are we going to see Nalby swansong in 2011? maybe a GS semi??? we know he has it in him to beat any of the top 4
(ps. monfils will probably roll/break his ankle of these days with all that high speed sliding on hard courts)

I saw the entire game and Nalbandian was really good !!! But Monfils was in an higher level this time, he defended like he always do, running from left to right back to front on every single ball even if it meens jumping to it !! (as 2 times in those highlights)
:( Nalbandian doesn't look like he did too bad from these highlights... so I guess Monfils must have been playing masterfully. Wish I caught the actual match because it's hard to tell how the whole match went from just highlights!
@asdfuogh Nalbandian had clear the best classic shots, but Monfils I think ran even more than Nadal 4 sets would do. And Monfils won his service games with Aces and service winners mostly, hardly giving Nalbandian a chance, and Nalbandian's first and second serves were poor again like in US Open 3. Round where he lost against Verdasco.
wathcing monfils flop on the ground never gets old 3:20

3;00 "...you dont want to make monfils run to the ball."
wtf you want him to do then, hit the ball to him so he can attack you. What a retarded comment from a professional commentator.

not bad, for a pusher like Monfils
He is fast, has great anticipation and ... jumping skills :-)
but he is too patient! he should go for a "winner" more often

Nalby has devastating ground strokes, I'll bet he was invincible as a junior player

Monfils' performance reminds the Phillipoussis' performance in the victories in Davis Cup 1999 final versus France.
